Hi all,
Does anyone know much about the process of applying for (or trying to get) antenatal care at the RBWH? I've sent a referal through my Dr and he said they would call, but then proceeded to put a wrong phone number on the referral, and I didn't realise until I got back. Anyway I tried calling and the machine said if a referral has been sent to wait for a registration pack in the mail, which hasn't come yet... The referral was sent over 2 weeks ago.
Anyway, does this seem normal procedure?
Thanks :)

yeah thats normal, i applied there when i was 6 weeks and i didnt hear from them till i was 16 weeks, which was just a registration kit in the mail which i had to then fill out and send back and then wait for a phone call but i never did because i ended up going through the mater mothers because they responed quicker, still took them 5 or so weeks to get a letter from them.
good luck
Do keep in mind that we've just come through the holiday season where some administrative offices do shut down for a few days and it tends to delay paperwork getting out somewhat. I think it took about three or four weeks for RBWH to get back to me so not abnormal just yet.
Hang in there - everyone has good and bad stories about every hospital sure - but I had a great time at RBWH (well, as great a time as one can have pushing out a baby!).

Hi there
I am with the Royal at the moment. If you are worried just give the maternity outpatient department a call and let them know that a referral was sent through you haven't heard anything and you just wanted to see where your registration was at..... This happened to me this time and they just told me when my appt was over the phone and I filled out the paperwork there as I never got it in the mail.

Hi :)
Turns out they rejected it because my old address was on it, but never told annybody (i called the dr to check). So I changed my address with the dr, got them to fax a new referral over, phoned the hospi back and thhey confirmed they received it, and yes they'd be in touch.
Finally :)
Thanks again!
I am with the rwbh.... and yes they seem to take there time with everything and no one can really give you a straight answer I have found, and ALL staff do not seem to be on the same page! but anyway that comes with them being soooo busy and christmas people away ect ect
good luck with your pregnancy hope all goes well!:yelclap:
