Our animals are lifetime registered in NSW, once we are posted to Victoria (or elsewhere in Australia) will we need to register with each council area we move to? Our animals are desexed and microchipped.
Different Victorian councils seem to have different limits on how many animals you can have, is this the case or am I misreading. We have 2 dogs and 1 cat.
Thanks for your help.
Sorry this might be too late. Yep you have to register your pets wherever you live. Our 3 cats / and our late dog were all microchipped and lifetime registered in NSW. Moved to Darwin and although the micrcochip data is still active, we had to register the dog in Darwin.
Yes you need to abide by council regulations. Here we can only have 2 cats but we have 3 .. one is 14yo and inside and honestly the neighbours only see 2 of the 3.
With our WA rules you can apply to have more than the regulation amount. I would say that would be the case with other councils. There's no way a council would say 'no you can only have 1 dog and you have to get rid of the other. iykwim.
cheers
Anna
I think (I'm not certain) that most Vic councils will allow 2 dogs & a cat (possibly even more).

When I moved I interstate i had to register my dog with the relevant Council each time.
Also, rather than only having her registered with the NSW companion animal register (not all pounds will contact all states) I registered her with Central animal records.
From memory it was $16.95 and I received a certificate and also a tag.

HTH :)
My cats and dog are also registered on the lost dogs home website .. and got tags.
As long as the microchip is picked up by the scanner you should be fine as some chips were made for different scanners some years ago so hopefully that's been rectified.
Wherever we moved I update our details at the Companion Animal Registry in NSW. Always make sure you get confirmation it's been updated via email or via snail mail cos one time they didn't update our new address.
