Where do your kids toys live?? I mean when they aren't strewn from one end of the house to the other!

DS has way too many toys to begin with (most of which we are NOT responsible for buying!!) so the bulk of them are in his room. However, he has a play area behind the couch where a whole heap more toys(andhis table and chairs) live, some permanently, some I rotate every few days so things actually get looked at! All his books are in the lounge too.
It's not too bad as once he is in bed they are all behind the couch so we don't feel like we live in a toy shop, but sometimes I would love for them all to be in his room and just brought out during the day! Think he would wonder what on earth is going on if I did that though!

Our three have toys boxes in their rooms for their toys. Books are in the loungeroom on the bookshelf and there is also a small table and chair set and kitchen set in the loungeroom too. Outside they have a big box to keep all their outside toys in because I hate seeing them all over the yard.

I think I'm going to have a serious look through and get rid of the stuff they don't play with anymore.

We converted our Formal Dining room into the kids playroom. (we don't do formal dinners!! ) The kids have heaps of the Little People toys, so it is set up like a village. Prams, cooking equipment, babies and change tables are in their rooms. I bought about 6 clear storage boxes - one for dress-ups, barbie dolls, puppets, baby doll clothes, teddies, and bags. I took a photo of them with something from each box and stuck it on, so they know where to put things when packing up.

Sam's toys are in 1 HUGE chest in the lounge and we take out what he can play with during the day and keep them all again once he's had his night time bath. All his books are in his shelf in his room. His scooters are all parked right beside his chest :)

we keep the toys all in his room. many many many are under his double bed in HUGE storage containers (5) under the bed.... he has a bunk ontop of the double so lots up there too... he has a wardrobe for books and puzzels. then ontop of that is stuffed toys ontop of his other wardrobe is more toys and inside the top half of the built in is toys that he wouldnt even remember he has.
then in his room he has a storage unit with those buckets and also 2 HUGE toy bins and a few small storage containers for the toys with lots of pieces. then the rest are just on the floor in corners like the huge tonka trucks and stuff....

and in the lounge room we have books and his enormous thomas the tank engine train sets.

the garage is for bikes and sandpit toys and outdoor toys and trucks.

Most are in the loungeroom, with a few in his bedroom.

I always worry though when he is playing in his room and it suddenly goes quiet, so i like him out where i can see him!

I have these side tables from Ikea

www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15564&catalogId=10103&storeId=18&productId=16119&langId=-26&categoryId=15800&chosenPartNumber=97322800

the top comes completely off so it can't drop on toddlers when they become old enough to use them themselves.I also use them for storing cot linen as the holes let everything breath. The good thing is when bubs is too old they can be used as normal furniture or spare room bed side tables. They can be painted and are really cheap too!

The toys the kids play with are in the loungeroom in their toy box which is right next to my computer desk. There are 2 more plastic tubs full of toys in yds's room and another toy box in ods's room.

i have a shelf in the study just for toys - and even put an old keyboard and mouse with the cables cut off with them so she can "help mummy work" as well as a fabric tubed toybox thingy - its quite a large room tho so more toys then study.

and a toybox in the lounge/dining area as well as her own shelf in the tv cabinet which is a contant fascination for kids - luckily our tv is so high up she cant reach it yet so no peanut butter smears haha

and a special box of toys that are for those days when nothing seems to keep her occupied - these are what we called supervised toys - things she'll prob ruin if we dont play with her :) a leappad, crayons (likes to eat them), bubble blower, playdough, balloons and her good books ie not cardboard

we have far too many toys hey - shes even got a box thats just music toys - but i keep that out of sight for rainy days and another box with old clothes and hats etc - the start of her dressup box which is just stuff out of my wardrobe and old beads and jewellery. these are just old huggies boxes which are a good size and kinda sturdy and the kids dont think theres anything in them but nappies - till i bring them down off the top shelf.

im trying to get rid of toys atm as she turns 2 in a few months! toys toys everywhere... and ive recently started a craft box for when shes older, keeping the cardboard tubes out of gladwrap, etc

We have two smaller baskets in our lounge room that hold most of his toys we dont have too many as we just arent into them especially when he gets bored so easy ! We have blocks, activity cubes, some trucks, phone & a few other bits & pieces but thats it really as he loves playing with containers & even old soft drink bottles i fill with glitter & beads with the lids glued on. These get packed up everynite & i sometimes rotate as i had my nephews old big pine toy/blanket box in his room but thats currently helping store bed linen also but i will paint it up soon cause as he is older all his toys will be in that upstairs so he can bring down what he wants when he feels like it.

We have an 'activity room' between the kids bedrooms, all their toys are in there, or meant to be anyway. There is a viewing window between the playroom and the family room, so I can just chuck toys straight through there into the playroom (great for unexpected visitors :o )
The only problem is their bedrooms are completely bare at the moment, beds and drawers only, really have to buy some stuff to put in there
