Oh wow it is exciting indeed. I thought you start to dialate when contractions start. As you can tell all this is very new to me.

Hey all
thanx for answering to this thread.
Well i'd like to welcome u all. Also i 'm so glad to see u all.
Rachelnp- Congratulations! i'm sure that every new minute is making u more n more exciting. So u take care.Being 3 cms dilated ...wow.....soon we'll have a new member in our group .Let us know when it happens!Good luck n have strength.
Tulp-Congratulations to u too about ur pregnancy.When r u due?
That's right -more contractions-more dilatations. But as u nears ur term, the cx tries to prepare itself by starting to dilate.being a first time mom,one starts with contactions early n stretched to a long time, which r always not perceivable. U come to realize that u r in labor when the contractions r quite strong so being 3 cm dilated is good but it might take some time before the bub comes.
Anyways feel free to ask any doubt n give ur views.I'm sure ladies here r quite helpful n experienced.
Ashika-Hi.I like both of ur boy's name.
Please invite ur friends too to join it.
Looking forward to more......replies

Wow - 3cm and not much pain - you are so lucky. I had uncoordinated contraction when DH was born, so really painful, really close together contractions (2-4mins apart, l;asting 2mins) and 0cm!!!
For girls names I like one I saw in movie - Anjali (sp?). My nephe is also Ajay, and nieces are Jagmeet, Harmeet and Loveleen. Did anyone do anything for Rakari? We went to sister in laws and Jai's cousins tied for him. She makes the best chilli pickle- it's too hot for them so they gave it to us. DH is in heaven (he loves heaps of chilli).

:) I'd loveto share but at the rate DH is eating it there wont be much left. It must be hard having no family around you. DH has one sister here, one in Austria, and his brother back in India passed away just before DS was born. That was really hard for DH not being there and not able to go because I was about to go into labour. Wherabouts do you live?

Hi Guys,
I had baby Lara on the 5th of August. We didn't go with Mia since Mia means husband in hindi. Love the name too. Been sooooo busy with her and also a been sick:-(. Hope the next three months go by quickly and it gets much easier so that i can start enjoying my time with lara. It does get easier right? lol
Not sure when I'll have time to pop in and say hello again.

Hi RAchel,
Lara is a nice name - I was almost going to be called Lara but my mum changed her mind. It does get better. I found the first 3 weeks the hardest but by 8weeks you get a bit of a routine. Believe me, it goes sooooo quickly. I still remember bringing DS home from hospital like it was yesterday!

Sorry indianmom, I'm in Sydney! I was wondering what language everyone speaks at home to their bubs? Also for those with older children, at what age did they start eating curries as adults have them , all the spices and that. DH can't wait for DS to start solids but I had to warn him that his first foods wont be curries.

hey Mel
Dont Worry
We'll get the achaar posted to us.If ok with u!
As for Meghna, she started speaking quite late coz of bilingualality.Uptil 18 months she only spoke 2-5 words.Thereafter i started speaking in Englsh at home n hubby started with HIndi. After that she was able to pick up words quite fast n with in a month she started speaking a lot of words.bUT SPOKE TO ME ONLY IN ENGLISH N WITH HER FATHER IN HINDI.
At 2 yrs she started combining two-three words to make a sentence. Now she fluently speaks hindi and has a vocabulary of 200+words in English.wE R STILL CONTINUING WITH THE PATTERN .But sometimes switch also.
I think that's the best way to make them learn both the languages at the same time.

For curries we started Meghna on then when she was 1 years old but her curries only has salt n turmeric. We usually add spices after taking out her share.
Curries r fine for solids from 9 months onwards but take care about the spices
Hope info is useful...

Hi Moms
Good to see so many Indian Moms around.
We are from North India and our little girl Riddhima is 1.5 month old. This is our first baby and I am having a good time feeding and changing diapers  Its not easy being a mom.
I am based in North Sydney.
RachelP : Congratulations:) I can imagine how you must be feeling but trust me you dont have to wait for your little one to be 3 months old to enjoy. After first month only things get settled and you start enjoying motherhood.
All the best :)
Let us all be in touch.:yelclap:

Happy New Year to you all.
I'm new to BH. My name is Sunita and I live in Melbourne. I have 2 boys - Josh aged 5 and Ajay aged 4 months. Would love to chat with other indian moms but have noticed not many messages lately. Guess everybody has been busy with Christmas and New Year festivities. We had a quiet one this year as no family around. Hope you all had a good time. Would love to hear all about it.

Hi indian mom
Thanks for the warm welcome. Great to receive a reply. Well to answer your question, I have been in Aust for nearly 10 years. I am from England and have no family locally. Now that I have my own kids, I miss my parents and the extended family network even more. How do you deal with this?
Hey Sunita

Hey Sunita
i know its really hard without ur family n loved ones.Initially i felt like its not worth living here but then i started integrating with ppl more thru playgroups, group meetingss n all the lovely ladies at BH.Mind u its the best place to talk freely as no one judges u here n proposes all the different approaches to ur probs.
I just love BH.Even though i m working now n doesn't get time to come to BH often still i try to every time i log on to internet
u'll love it too
try making some indian friends as well locally whom u can talk to often
and please keep coming to this thread n involve me as ur friend
All lovely ladies,where r u all?
just come n say hello atleast, long since i've seen anyone

Thanks for the words of wisdom Indian Mom,
Sorry have not been in touch for a while - have been busy socialising and keeping up with the boys. Josh started school last week so we are all getting used to the new routine. So far so good. He seems pretty happy at his new school and is very tired at the end of the day which is good for me! Ajay is getting more and more mobile - almost crawling which is great for him but not so good for me as have to be even more watchful!
Anyway hope all is well with you and you are enjoying being back at work. How is your little girl doing?

Hi Everyone,
Looks like evryone has lost interest in this forum.I am a delhi boy planning to get married my partner of 6 years hopefully next year. I am in sydney from last 3+ years and have not been to dilli since 2008. Dad is not yet ready to accept my partner as she is christian abd from Dilli too.
Planning to visit Delhi this october to sort out things. So once get married i am sure this forum will be very helpful as i want to be a father . Both of us like kids but still get scared when see babies crying all around but we know when actual time comes, everything would be fine.
I read one lady here mentioning about Halwa , Poori in this forum which i have not eaten from so many years. When my mum was there she used to cook on Astami pujan but it's almost six years now as she passed away in 2006.
I did not get chance to stay with Indian family/community in sydney but this looks like nice forum .
Will might come back to this forum to seek some advise from experieced mums in case i fight with my dad.
