Hi,

I have just discovered that I am pg and have my Dr's appt on Tuesday. I presume then that I will have to choose which hospital I intend to give birth in. I have been to the Gold Coast hospital a couple of times for other things and the parking round there is a nightmare not to mention expensive.

My rather silly question is when you went into labour was it just pot luck if you got a parking space or is there alternative parking for those in labour. Whilst I am in labour, I do not want my husband having to leave every few hours to feed the meter. Sounds a silly question I know, but one that is bugging me.

What did you do???

It really depends what time you go into labor as for a parking spot lol.

I would recommend getting dropped off, and not keeping your car near the hospital. When your partner comes to visit, he could park at Australia Fair where you get 4 hours free parking.

So I would try to arrange to have someone come pick up your car perhaps while your in labour. Because the parking is a joke.

when you are in labour and first arrive at the hospital, you can park at the top of the hospital until your partner takes you to the labour ward...if your going to give birth within 30mins-1hr they let you leave your car there so your partner can be with you.

Otherwise he will need to move the car (loads of parking space accross from the uni hospital and down in the side streets if you can't get anything out the front-i have never had a problem)

During labour he won't need to go down and put money in as the hospital will give you a letter for the GCCC to waiver the parking fine if you get one! - so he won't have to leave during the birth!!!

Plus, the Gold coast hospital has a really good antenatel class. (have been told that Tweed doesn't do them or you have to pay for them)
Everyone i have spoken to has said that GC hospital is great. Also, if there is something wrong with the baby, they will send you up the Gold Coast hospital anyway!

I think parking is only 50 cents an hour or something - so its not too bad.

As you can see, i havn't given birth yet...but got this information from the antenatel classes we attended and from friends that have giving birth there within the past year!

Hope this info helps you! :)

By the way...CONGRATULATIONS!
