View Full Version : How do you keep your 5 month old entertained?
For the past couple of weeks I feel like I have my 5 month old DD strapped to my hip! Whenever she is up she constantly wants to be held. She only lasts for very short periods in her rocker, swing, highchair or play mat. It's making getting the housework done tougher and tougher because even if I take her with me in the highchair she cries. So how do you keep your little ones entertained? Any suggestions or advice much appreciated!

I know this may seem obvious but can you afford to buy a sling/baby carrier?. My bub is the same age and has just started to get clingy when he's awake. I put him in my baba sling and carry him around with me while I do the chores.
Thanks Angiepop, I do have a Baby Bjorn however she's a big bub, when I had her weighed at 4 months she was 8kg so she'd be more than that by now, so putting her in the baby carrier kills my back. What to do!
I haven't tried the Jolly Jumper yet, can't remember at what age they can start that, but obviously that's not something she can be in a great deal anyway. Hmmm...
My baby is even bigger than yours and I love the ergo baby carrier, everything else made my back ache. That said I don't find it convenient using it while doing chores with all the bending etc.

I have the same problem... i know this probably sounds awful but i find the television works a treat for a little while anyway. DD likes the backyardigans on Nic Jnr.
The rest of the day i try to get her to play on her mat or carry her around the house in her rocker. If all else fails i walk around the house singing nursery rhymes to her... i may sound like an idiot but she likes it and as long as im singing shes normally contented enough to let me do stuff for 5 - 10 minutes
Ive tried the baby carrier aswell but actually find it more difficult for the same reasons as lilli.
