Hi all,
Sorry if I sound a little vague...however there is something that is bothering me..... I have been off the pill since Nov 05 and from what I have read, the pill leaves your system within 48hours thats why they tell you to take the morning after pill if you have missed one, however.....from what people have told me, the pill stays in your system. They have all said to me "ahhhh, the pill is still in your system, when it leaves you will fall pg"......yeh thanks.....It's been 8 god damm months now, it must be an overly affectionate pill!!
are they just saying this to be nice to me or what???? is it true? What do you guys think???
Thanks girls,
Jo:)
PS, Just feeling a little down tonight.....Sorry

It took 3 months for hubby and I to fall pregnant after coming off the pill. The doctor told us it would take about 3 months for it to leave my system, and that happened to be the same amount of time that it took to fall pregnant.
So, if you came off in November, then it would have been out of your system by February, so you have technically been 'able' to try for 5 months... If you still haven't had any luck in the next couple of cycles a trip to the doctor may be a good idea...
Best wishes,

Hi Joanne  I hear your frustration. This is our 6th cycle of TTC and now I am starting to feel things like a pre-pill level of libido. :detective:
The old wives tales I heard when I stopped taking the pill was you'd get pg in the first month or it will take you quite a while (6+ months). Obviously that's not completely true.
I think the pill itself leaves your system within 48 hrs, however then your body has to remember how to function without the pill telling it what to do when.. that takes somewhat longer.
I'd be tempted to go to the doctor in the next few months too...
My Dr told me that the pill doesn't stay in your system for more than a day or two...if it did then you wouldn't need to take it every day. She also said that although the pill is no longer in your system it can take a while for some people to get a regular cycle back, making it harder for some people to concieve.
It took 6mths for me to fall preg with my DS, I had never been on the pill before that. When we decided to have #2 (now my 8mth old DD) we were expecting things to take at least that long again. I went off the pill on new years eve 2004 and fell preg in feb 2005. I also know a few people who have fallen preg in the first month off the pill.
Everyone is different, so if you are worried go speak to your Dr...if you don't get any help/reassurance from them, go see another Dr. You can buy kits to tell you when you are ovulating...maybe you could try one of those, I can't name any coz I've never used one.
Good luck :fingerscrossed:

Hi little fish, Ive seen you around and I really hope you and I get our BFP soon hey???:fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:
It is so frustrating! DH has been strange this month, saying that something is different and he thinks this is it, so this month I feeel more excited...1 week to go till AF, but no signs of her yet, but have felt seedy and dry reached once last week, so strange, I think my body is just being weird this month... I dont know:confused:
thanks also CWSmum, your ovualation kit advice is good, I look at them in the chemist, maybe at 1 year of TTC I will buy one.
Jo :hugs:
Hi Joanne555,
Having previously sold the contraceptive pill I can assure you that most Oral contraceptive pills leave your system within 48 hours.
For many women it takes some time for your body to begin ovulating regularly, and that makes falling pregnant really difficult. I am sure you know this already but the best things that you can do in the meantime is ensure that you have a great diet, regular exercise etc. etc. You might also like to monitor your ovulation (there are a billion methods for doing this).
For my story: I had been off the pill for 2 years (about 4 years ago) and didn't fall. I went back on the pill and fell pregnant within 2 weeks of going off it this time.
Good luck and keep your chin up!!!

The pill might leave your body but your hormones have to get back on track themselves and this is what can take time. Some people begin ovulating straight away and some take longer, can even take up to 12 months or more. I think within 6 months is more the norm.
I went off it at the start of March and am yet to ovulate. I was on it for about 13 years though.
Are you traking your cycles using your basal body temp or anything? This may help rule out anovulatory cycles or if you have just been unlucky to not have caught the egg yet.
We got off the pill in Oct because I was tired of taking it and was pregnant in Dec.
I missed taking my pill for like 3-4 days during a move at the last minute and with everything that had gone on didnt take it .. fast forward to a month later when I find out I was pregnant .. lol .. .I guess its like my mother says. . some women only need to smell it and they fall pregnant . .But I wish you all the best. . I know most people that have tried say they usually fell when they stopped trying or least expected it . .so keep your hopes up hunny .. it will happen
