View Full Version : Grinding Teeth..?
My almost 11 month old has four teeth... two up two down.
As they are getting bigger, he has started grinding them together ( makes the hair on my neck stand on end! errghhh!)
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I may stop him from doing this?
I'm worried he's going to chip them!
(I have thought about going to the Dentist to ask... but thought you clever bubhub chicks will prob know! )

My DS did that too when he got him top and bottom front teeth... Was starting to get worried and then he stopped doing it... Maybe its just them gettin guse to having teeth in their mouth... The other bubs in my mothers group did t he same thing...

My DS did exactly the same thing when he got his two top and two bottom, It went on for a month or so and now he very rarely does it. I think they are just curious what these teeth are and are exploring! its sounds horrible though doesnt it!!!

Hi Kooy,
I hate to tell you this...but there is nothing you can do until he is older:thumbsdown: ...I use to be a dental assistant, and until he is grown up enough..maybe 5-6years you can't do anything.
We saw this all the time in young ones. When he is older a dentist can make him a clear plastic device called a "Splint", this will make him grind againest the plastic not his own teeth.
If he is doing this through the day you can try distracting him and telling him "no" this is wrong, but at night time is the worst, as he maybe doing it in his sleep...
Alot of adults have splints...in fact I wear one at night because hubby hears me grinding...it's done in your sub conscious so you are unaware you are doing it....
Hope this helps:thumbsup:

Just a pity post here, MJ does the same thing. I can hear her doing it from another room
I can't say that I have heard him from another room...
but I'm hoping that it is just a phase and once he gets used to his chompers he'll stop :fingerscrossed:
It is good to know he is not the only crazy bubba out there who does it :D

That was always when I wished my DS would take a dummy. At least if the others did it I could stick the dummy in and distract them.
