Hi,

I really need some help with activities and meal plans for an 9 month old. It currently feels like groundhog day at our house.

I'm running out of ideas for what to do all day. DD wakes up between 6-7am and goes down to bed at 7:30pm. She also naps for 4hrs during the day. There is still sooo much time to fill in though and I feel like we do the same thing everyday.

We play inside with the ball pit, duplo, assorted toys. We play outside in the paddle pool and on the swing. We have story time and music time. We go for 2x 25 min walks/ day. But there still seems to be heaps of time left, and I think I rely too much on the tv.

DD also gets quite similar meals everyday. She has a piece of toast and a bowl of cereal, yoghurt and fruit every day for breakfast. At lunch she has a sandwich with avocado and cheese or banana (both on multigrain) with a piece of fruit or salad sticks. For dinner she had either beef, chicken or tuna, with vegies and pasta (all home made) and yoghurt for dessert. Breakfast and dinner are a mix of fingerfood and spoon feeding and lunch is always finger food.

What do you do/ have done with your 9 month old? And what do you/ did you feed them (particularly sandwich fillings!)

Thanks :)

We don't do half what you do in a day and never use the TV at all, so don't despair.

I leae DS to potter arou
nd the house while I'm doing hosuework etc and he is happy as long as he can follow me around. We don't have structured activities and I tend to play each day as it comes.

A least once or twice a day I'll drop to the floor and give him complete 100% attention and we roll around, play chase, dance around etc. He spends a lot of his time in the high chair eating (loves his finger foods), and he only naps for one 90 minute - 2hr stretch in the morning.

We probably go to the mall 2 or three times a week (usually just the small local shops) and it gives him new things to see and a break from the heat at home.

When it's not holidays, he goes to Crazy Crawlers once a week for 45 minutes.

I think you're doing a fantastic job!! If some kids got half the attention and great food that you're giving they'd be more than happy :0)

I let my DS play on the floor with toys while i'm pottering around too, so she has learnt to entertain herself and not rely 100% on me for entertainment. When i'm in the kitchen i give her bits and pieces out of the drawers (safe stuff) for her to bang and put in and out of the saucepan etc. We also go to the local shopping centre, just for a wander around a few times a week, she's always loved that.

I also have the tv on a lot, but she will just glance at it and carry on playing - unless its In The Night Garden, then she becomes mesmorised! lol A little bit of tv is not going to hurt atall.

You do way more than my all most 8 month olds do. Im also very limited in what i can with them because of their delays & that their is 3 of them.

Their awake time is spent on the floor rolling around & bashing each other. We do go for a walk on an afternoon when DF gets home.
They eat what we do in a simpler version.
