hi all
wasnt excatly sure where to post this so please move it if its needed

well my daughter is 8 months old every week she was putting on aroung 200 grs which was quite a lot about 6 weeks ago she had bronchiolitis and lost her apitite shes usually very good with food before she was sick she weighed 8510grms then 3 weeks later after being off her food her weight went down to 8050 which was understandable due to hosp stay

so now i have been back to get her weighed 2 weeks later and shes now 7970grms but she eats heaps and drinks around 650 mls milk a day, she is quite active and has quite a few snacks through the day, i am just wondering if i should be giving her more snacks and food, or what???

on average what does your 8 month old have as meals and snacks through the day??

Thanks

This will be okay, she will eat what she needs to compensate. One of the boys I look after at our care has lost quite a bit of weight due to illness lately. 3-4 weeks on he is now gaining it again, - due to what you ahve mentioned- a VERY HEALTHY APETITE!! The kids aren't like us, they KNOW when they're hungry... just keep monitoring her and keep feeding her when she wants it until she's had enough. 8 months old that I know eat-

one bottle in morning

cereal (half weetbix mixed with 4 teaspoons oats or rice cereal)

couple bite sized pieces of fruit (or mush!)

Lunch 1- 2 ikea sized bowls of vegies with a bit of meat/pasta/rice with water to drink. If she has started on yoghurt i'd also offer 1/4 bowl yoghurt with 2 teaspoons rice cereal mixed in as dessert

After afternoon sleep, sandwiches, two quarters - vegemite and water/bottle as desired.

Dinner, 1-2 bowls of veggies/meat/pasta/rice, plus dessert of fruit/yoghurt etc

Bottle ...

Bed!

hope this helps!
