Hi everyone,

Just wanted to know if anyone has had problems with the skin underneath the head of the penis 're-attaching' itself to the skin after circ? It happened to me before our follow up consultation & the doc gently peel the skin apart  . But it has happened again...& i rang the doc & he said i should be able to peel it apart myself. Both my partner & i have tried to do this but to no avail. I am way to scared that I am going to hurt bubs. They said to come back if we cant do it, but I am interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem? Thanks.

Sorry, but this is quite common, especially with the plastibell method! I cannot really help you, only your doctor. Sometimes it is best to leave alone as nature intended, fully intact!

Just saw your posting today.
I'm sure you've already been back to your Dr. by now.
A little bit of advice that I found quite useful was to keep up the betadine ointment well after the bell falls off just to help heal the raw edges quicker and to eliminate any chance of infection. Smother the foreskin and the gland (gets quite messy as I recall ) and whilst doing this just gently retract the remaining foreskin a couple of mm's just to let a bit of the ointment sit between the foreskin and the underside of the gland.
It's only natural that the skin will try to reattach whilst the edges are still raw so keep this up until you see the next stage of the healing process.
Your Dr. should have explained this to you.
Good Luck! Persevere just a little longer! You are almost there!

I see christyc is full of useful information once again?
This is only common if parents of the children having the procedure have not followed the post op. advice from their Dr. or maybe haven't been given the information in the first place.
The plastibell method is the safest and the most humane circumcision procedure available.

Hi alone&pregnant - my response is a bit late too but I would also suggest going back to the doctor if you are worried about hurting bub. my doc also discussed this happening with my DS and told me to keep pulling the remainder back to stop this happening. Good luck with it!

myf - just wondering what the doc told you about making sure the glans didn't reattach? if you received similar advice did he say anything about pulling the remaining foreskin back and if so, how often?

Hi Girls,

I had my son circ in March i was totally scared but we didn't have any problems with it i just kept to betadine up on the raw skin after to plasti bell fell off and now its looks really good. We had our son done down at Dr Russell at Mcgregor he was really great and would refer anyone there in the future.

If ur worried id suggest to take him back to the Dr that did it and have it cheacked out.
