View Full Version : 1st month off the pill - was your cycle regular?
This is my first month off the pill and I'm currently 2/3 days late with no sign of af coming whatsoever. I don't think I'm pregnant as I was in hospital for the week after ovulation and had so many ultrasounds (external and internal) and bloodtests (all for suspected appendicitis but they checked for pregnancy routinely) that I think they would have picked up something to indicate pregnancy if it was there...although it was probably too early to tell. So just thought I would find out what the 'norm' is when it comes to your first month off the pill so I don't go out and waste my money on pregnancy tests! :p Tell me your story!

My pill cycle was 30days ...this being my first month off it i got af on a 38day cycle so she was a week late...which is quick enough for me as im sure some ladies have waited alot longer for theirs.
I am still waiting - over 110 day cycle so far, so frustrating, hopefully the new year will bring some good news when I go to see a gyne, fingers crossed that your cycle settles quickly and isn't as frustrating as mine.
My first cycle off the pill was 32 days.. Last time i came off the pill before having my baby I think they were about 38 and 36 days.. There's a lot of people on here that are up to like 40, 50 or more days and still no AF... Hope she comes soon!!
There you go.. 110 days! Heyside you must have posted when i was typing.. oops!

My pre-pill cycle was 33 days, pill cycle 28 days. The first 2 months off went 29 then 30 days then I got bfp.
Haven't been on the pill now for 6 months and every month has ben 28/29 days. Not quite sure how, but not complaining as it's lighter!
This thread has actually just made me count my days (which I have been putting off doing in a while) only to find I am actually 121 days tomorrow - definately time for some good news next yr I think
First cycle off for me was 36 days. Don't remember how long my cycles were pre-pill. It was nine years ago and a teenager!
First AF was very light and probably didn't ovulate.
Next cycle was 88 days, followed by 62 days and then down to the 30s, all with ovulation. 12 months down the track and I'm still trying to iron it out but think I'm pretty close now. :)
Wasn't TTC until this last few months so knew during the long cycles that I wasn't PG. Just had to be patient and wait it out. But not hard to do when not TTC!
Wow some of these numbers are crazy...kind of makes you wish you knew about it all when you went on the pill in the first place :dizzy: why don't the doctors tell you about these things!!? I guess I should sit back and wait now - I'm day 31...which doesn't really seem so bad in the scheme of things does it! Hopefully it doesn't end up too late though as I'm sure I will find it hard not to go insane with all the waiting!
I came off the pill 1 year ago and AF did not return! I went to my gp after 4 months, had investigations at 6 months and found i had PCOS. I started clomid at 9 months and took Provera first to bring on my first AF for the year. I am on my 3rd round of clomid now and have still not ovulated!! Still waiting!!
I also wonder why i took the pill at all! I know it didn't cause my PCOS but it certainly hid it from me the past few years! I had regular AF before taking the pill!
But everyone is different! I have decided i won't go on the pill again though!!
I didnt get AF for 11weeks after I stopped the pill.

Agree with you here sezzle - will definately not be going back on the pill either
I hope that you ovulate soon and get your bfp :fingerscrossed:
I need some answers too so that I can begin to deal with any problems I might have :hair:

My first cycle has been 39 days. Pre-pill (about 11 years ago when i was a teen) my cycles were fairly regular at 28 and 29 days.
I won't be going back on the pill if this AF continues headache free... I have the worst migraines when AF arrives on the pill.

I was very irregular in my early years (probably 10 - 13 years old) then I went to a 33 day cycle (I think?). I just got my first AF after the pill and I had to wait 50 days. I have a feeling I won't be regular after this one though, just have a feeling (fingers crossed though).
I had a feeling I was ovulating because I have been monitoring CP and CM and I knew changes were happening.
Good luck everyone :) I'm telling everyone I know to go off the pill earlier than later!!!
Yeah, totally agree. Couldn't pay me enough to get me back on the pill now. I'm literally a different person and am feeling a heck of a lot healthier for it! Just goes to show that nothing beats natural hormones!
Having said that, had I known about all this as a teen, I'm not sure it would have made a difference because I was desperate to escape the excrutiating pain, flooding and clotting that AF used to bring me back then... *shrugs*

I came off the pill in August and had been taking it for 5.5 years. My first cycle off the pill was about 31 days. I am not sure if AF arrived early/late as I was abit of a serial AF skipper while on the pill...
I have to agree with the other ladies who said they feel better since coming off the pill. I was talking to my DH about it this morning and I now have a higher sex drive since coming off the pill... Which is a good thing when TTC a baby!
The only down side I have noticed is that my skin is breaking out around ovulation and when AF is due....

This is my first month off the pill in over 8 years, with the last few years skipping periods up to 3 months at a time. I have no idea when or what this first period is going to be like. I never had a regular cycle before I went on the pill so who knows. I'm dreading the thought of AF coming actually, even though I know it's the first step in getting myself sorted out in preparation to TTC.

My first cycle was just over 100 days, can't remember exactly how many. This was after being on the pill for around 8 years.
I'm now on day 60 of my second cycle. After my last period though on day 28 i had a day of the faintest tinge of red each time i went to the toilet, so i'm not really sure if that was some sort of period or what.
I also have pcos, so had i realised that the pill would have stuffed me up so badly, i would have done more research before going onto it or even had a break on it after the first year or two...
Goodluck, heres to 2010 being the year o f :bfp:

Smack on 28 days for me but I've heard that's unusual for the first month off!
I was on the pill for 12 years and stopped taking it at the end of September last year. Cycles were irregular beforehand (12-15yrs), usually between 3 and 6 weeks.
First cycle was 51 days, on cycle #2 at the moment....currently CD43 and haven't O'd yet.
I had a 28day regular cycle, i went on the depo needle in april, that ran out and i went on the pill middle of august, went off it 2wks later. I had my AF when it was due then my nxt one didnt show up until 42days later (6wks), my next was 28days(MC) then 17days and this one is 29days and counting. The pill may bugger up your cycles for a while yet.
Good Luck.
