I've heard that brewing fresh marjoram will bring on labour. Has anyone tried this?

I'm thinking of giving it a go at 38 weeks...

What are some tried and tested labour inducers apart from the commonly known ones? The marjoram tea theory comes from the villages of lebanon... it would be interesting to hear what other cultures do.

Hmmm,...be careful of the whole self induction thing,.. I took castor oil with scarlett and she was born within 3 hours,....... but apparently it can be quite dangerous, as it relaxes your baby's bowel muscles aswell as yours, and the baby can end up swallowing meconium,...I didn't know that at the time,.. Let the bubba come when they are ready I reckon!!!

burning clary sage oil apparently makes labour quicker but thats after its already started.

I have a brand new unopened bottle sitting on my coffee table...didn't get time!

if labour has started, as Shed said, Clary Sage is great. You can blend it in a massge oil with a variety of other essential oils. Your health food shop should stock a ready made blend. Also, as you probably are aware of, drinking raspberry leaf tea is a great way to prepare the uterus for birth-thus making labour and birth that bit more smooth. Raspberry leaf tea contains a substance called fragrine which relieves pains by dilating the pelvic muscles.
Good luck!
