Hi girls
Im currently using Avent bottles (the small ones) with the #2 flow for my 8mo DD. She's starting to want more than the 120mls she's been having so I need to get some larger bottles. I've tried the Nuk First choice and she didn't like them at all. Im wondering whether to buy some larger Avent bottles or try another brand. Ive just found sometimes when mixing the formula that the Avent bottles leak - has anyone else had this? What other brands would be good to try for a bub who still has a relatively slow flow teat?

If the Avent bottles are leaking it's because you are cross-threading when screwing the lid thingy on. I hope this helps. Goodluck :fingerscrossed:

Yeah certainly I would say that the lid is not on properly.

Just remove the lid and put it on again.

I also found with the Avent that if you're screwing the lid on too tight they will leak. Once we worked that out we never had a problem anymore.

if you've always used avent bottles and theres never been a problem with them besides the leaking which like many people have already said is usually due to them being too tight, have a go with not tightening them so much and if they dont continue to leak id say definatly go for the bigger avent bottles!

My DD2 is 10weeks and she's on the 260ml Avent bottles and having 150mls per feed..
I know there's another slightly bigger bottle after 260mls but it's pointless seeing as though feeds only go up to 240mls.

May i ask why your 8month old DD is having 120ml bottles

Hi girls and thanks. Not sure what cross-threading is? I thinkthey're leaking from the lid not the teat but i'll check. I'll also try not tightening them so much n see if that helps. Re her only having 120mls - that's all she's wanted so far. Although having said that for the last few days she's wanted more, hence my question about buying new/larger bottles. She just had a 1.30 feed and had 150mls so i'll start offering her that much for now n see how she goes.
thanks

Cross-threading is when you're not putting the lid on properly hence it leaking. Goodluck

I use the Pidgeon wide-necked bottles with Peristaltic Teats. They're really good...and can fit 300mL in them. They're about $10-$15 a bottle...depending on where you get them...

I wonder if they're leaking cos I use hot/warm water instead of cold water??

 it's deffinatly because you're not screwing it on properly. Unless you got a dodgy batch of bottles which i highly doubt. Have a look in the cap.. you see threads then have a look at the neck of the bottle.. the threads on cap thingy (the white bit where the teat goes into) have to fit perfectly inbetween the one's on the neck of the bottle and if you don't screw it on properly (which is called cross threading) it will leak. i hope this makes sense. im sorry if it doesn't. i just wish i would be able to show you in person because then you could see what i was talking about:laughing: i use to have the same problem when i started out with avent until a day later i worked out what was going on.

I use avent too and never had problems with them leaking except when the water is too hot as someone else has already mentioned!

They're brilliant!
