Okay first of all i rent.
I have insurance for everything ie car insurance, home contents insurance and even portable insurance (ie for my gps because not many people know that you are not covered for your gps if it is taken from your car in any event).

About a week ago, my stereo started doing odd things, and eventually died. Then my dvd player pretty much the same thing (kept turning itself of).

My tv kept turning itself of and died (today) the stereo and dvd player died the same day.

First i rang nrma and told them what had happened they said if it is fusion i am covered, me not knowing what it is said i didnt know. Advised to take it in to get a quote.

So i take it into the repair shop (which of course is closing for this holiday season) where i am told i have to pay fifty dollars each just to get a look at it (and so not having the cash on me arrange to leave it with them until the 11th when they reopen as they wont look at it until then and until i pay).

Today the tv kept turning itself of i have changed power cords, even ended up putting the extension cord to another power point in the loungeroom in a vain effort to save my tv.

Next thing i know it has now blown up. I ring the rental people and am advised to call the electricity company and they will send someone out to find out whats going on.

So the electricity company person comes looks at the powerpoint and the electricity box and cannot find anything at all wrong but agrees it must have been some kind of surge ie due to a lightning strike. I know we have had bad weather here but i am not sure how this follows given that there is a space of a few days in between the stereo/dvd and tv blowing up.

Was told by the insurer they would not cover anything if there had been work on the lines or fault in the line as that would be the electricity companys problem.

As the electricity person has said this isnt the case as far as he can see it must have been an lightning strike.

So now i have rang insurer up and basically told them the above. Has anyone else been in this situation.

All i want is my things to be working/ or replaced and i dont see how i am going to do this anytime soon if not approved.
