I took DS2 to the dr's yesterday as he is very snuffly and the dr notice a weird lump moving around in his tummy. It bigger than a golf ball. He asked me if he is using his bowels and I told him that he is. He does 2 plus poos a day. Whenever the lump starts moving he starts squirming around and sometimes starts crying. I think it could be wind but he burps really well. So I have no idea what it is. I am taking him to his peadatrician today for his 6 week check so hopefully he will be able to tell me what it is. Does anyone know what it might be? Could it be his formula? He is on karicare.

I haven't heard of it before but then again I'm no Doctor. Hopefully the paediatrician can shed some light on it for you today.:hugs: :fingerscrossed:

I have tried giving him the brauer's colic relief thinking that it is colic, but everytime I give it to him he power spews everywhere. So I am no longer giving it to him.
I know I shouldn't of given it to him but last night so he could sleep with no pain I gave him some panadol. It wasn't a full dose just a half dose.

I'm not trying to scare you, but this is what friends of mine had in their little boy.

He had a hernia.

A quick little operation and he is all fixed....Happy cheerful little man is back in the house!

He was fussing over his food as well.

Their Dr said its quiet common for babies to get a hernia, as the lining of their tummy is so thin...

Fingers crossed its nothing serious like that!!! XXOO :hugs:

the first thing that came to mind for me was a hernia also. As Mischief said, if it is fairly straightforward op. I have heard they can be quite common also. Good luck with the paed, I hope they can solve the mystery for you. :hugs:

It doesn't scare me. I had a friend who's baby had a hernia. If he does have a hernia then I can't complain. He will be my first child to have an operation so young.

Yep I'm thinking hernia as well - gas wouldn't cause something like that.
Good luck at the ped! :fingerscrossed:

Is your baby vomiting after every feed? There is a condition called Pyloric stenosis which is where the muscle at the bottom of the stomach closes a few weeks after birth. Projectile vomiting is the first sign but often a Dr can feel a lump where the muscle has closed. My DS had this and although he need an operation to fix it he has been fine ever since.

Hope all goes well at his check today and you get some anwsers

Well we went and saw the pead and he said that it is just wind caught in his intestines(sp?). That it is just colic. Sounds weird to me. If it is still there in a few days I will be getting a second opinion.

He is not power spewing all the time, just when I gave him the colic relief.

Fingers crossed that is all it is.....seems a weird diagnosis, but the pead should know what he's talking about!
