its not something you can get installed

all it is is all brakes on prams now have to bed red

its illegal to sell a pram that doesnt have a red brake!
it doesnt comply to australian safety standards

i'd be reporting the ebay listing

Hi there,

Its got the strap for it thats about it. I didnt know you couldnt get them installed. Thats why i asked on here. Ill get her to report the listing. The only reason i asked is because they are wanting $700.00 for the pram.. She said to me if she could get it way cheaper then $700.00 then she would take it but for $700.00 and doesnt meet australian standards geee...

Even if it wasn't something legally needed, you definetaly want a pram with a break, otherwise you'll find it rolled down the street. I did that once, I was getting the baby out the car, forgot to put the brake on, it rolled away at a carpark and people were running for it thinking there was a baby in there (I felt so stupid and embaressed) It was very dangerous too.:o

The pram i say does have brakes but not the new red brake system. I have a bugaboo and there brakes are white and i always forget to put them on because i cant seem to see them where as i have seen the red ones and they stand out..

Alot of people tho dont know the new laws for prams and thats why they are still selling them for a fair wack of money when they aint worth it in my eyes.

Maybe contact the seller to let them know its illegal before you report them, I wasn't aware of the new laws re the red brakes and straps til I read a thread on here a couple of days ago.

If it has working brakes, its still safe, if I had a good pram from before the laws came in, I'd still use it. Its just so they stand out and people will be more likely to use them. So technically the pram is 'still worth it', it will still work just as well, its just illegal now to sell it.

Thats what she has done she emailed to lady to let her know.
I was just talking to my SIL on the phone and she did state that she did go look at it and the breaks are a little hard to put down on the pram. Which is a worry as she does a lot of walking so she going to need to get them fixed aswell.. I see it as not worth it tho as a few things need to be fixed on it plus its 3 to 4 years old.. Shes not fussy with prams like i am tho haha

In all honesty, if the pram was exactly what I wanted then i'd still buy it.

The laws were changed after the incidents with people not putting brakes on/brakes failing/handstraps not being used or not on prams. I have looked at the version of our P&T sports in the shops with the 'new' red brake system.....they have taken a can of red spray paint and painted the exact same brake red. The actual brake itself is NO safer than before, BUT it will be more useful (and therefore safer in use) as anyone can see now exactly where the brake is and be reminded to use it because being red it sticks out. Same as the brake on our Valco twin - it's the same brake as the one in the shops, but the plastic thing your foot operates is black on ours, and red in the shops.

If your SIL really wants that pram and can get it for a good price, she can paint the brake red herself and make it just as safe as the ones that are sold with red brakes.

Thanks for your reply. I didnt know much about the red brake. thats why i posted on here.
She did state to me on the phone is will buy it if its a good price because of the age and because she needs to take it to baby bunting to get a few other things fitted to it as the people that have it now have broken clips etc off it. She did however get a quote to get them clips etc fixed from baby bunting and they said she would be up for around $150.00 not including labour.. So in all thought how much should she offer for the pram?? seems it needs to be fixed up a little
