View Full Version : Waiting to O worse than the 2 week wait???

Just wondering if any of you out there with irregular or long cycles sometimes find waiting to O can be worse than the TWW?

Vent and rant start:
Maybe because it's CD21 and I'm really not sure that I have ovulated or are soon, all my usual signs are missing and I'm going away tomorrow for a week with out DP and if I don't O soon that's another chance gone :banghead: and also means this maybe another cycle longer than 35d just when I thought they might be getting shorter . . . . :banghead: and BD every day or second day just in case I O for nearly two weeks with no real end in sight (except that I'm going away) is starting to get a little mechanical for the first time. AHHHHHHHHHHH
:Vent and rant finish -

Sorry for the rant, I feel a little better now

Still for a change, right now I'd give anything to be in the TWW and at least have a little hope that somethings being going on.

Of course as a woman I reserve the right to change my mind as soon as I am in the TWW and moan about it too

Bolli, I have now discovered I ovulate on CD30 (a 43 day cycle). This is my first month of charting. For the last 2 months we have BD at the start of the cycle, thinking that is when I would ovulate. But I have since discovered I actually ovulate quite later. I know how you feel waiting for that egg. Now I am in the TWW. Will test this week. The waiting never stops does it. Then, to top it all off, we have to wait for another 8 months or so. Grrhhh :banghead: .

All the best for you and :fingerscrossed: you catch the eggie.

It definately is! I wish I had even experianced a TWW!

I have not ovulated in nearly 5 months after coming off the pill in March, I may have PCOS and am seeing a specialist soon. It is very frustrating when you are TTC but technically dont have the chance to try at all because you are not ovulating! Im sure long O cycles are almost as bad to.... to think you have one chance every month is bad enough but for it to be longer between real chances is annoying! :banghead:

I'm with you Bolli. The wait to O involves SOO much more. Watching what you eat, how you sit, checking cm, checking cervical position, doing this after sex or not doing that after sex :ecomcity:

At least in the TWW all you are waiting for is either a BFP or AF. Just thinking about it all has me exhausted! :)

Yeah Bolli - I'll join this club.... This is definately worse... esp when you know you have missed your chance and AF takes FOREVER to show up! I'm on CD45 and still no sign of AF.

Edited: to change to CD45... Just re-counted.. opps! :o

I kinda almost feel like I'm overeacting a little now - my last cycle was 35 days, I should really be glad its not worse.

Len :fingerscrossed: Af shows up for you soon- do you know if you've O'd I had 44 day cycle, turns out I O'd on CD30

:hugs: Nicole, that's a real stinker not O'ing in 4 months. I really hope the fertility specialist can sort you out soon

MMB - that's just like me, I worked out from charting last cycle I wasn't timing it right - Here's to us both getting the timing right this time

Pink Lady - Wow - I don't actually do anything special waiting to O, if anything I let loose a little since I know I'm not PG and watch the booze and stuff in the TWW - What do you watch in your diet? And please feel me in on this watch how you sit - I've always had bad posture but didn't think it could affect TTC . . .

Bolli - No I don't... I'm going to start temping and vitex. I was thinking I should wait to start both next cycle? Or does anyone reckon I should start both or one or the other now????

TJ
24-07-2006, 21:14
yes sign me up for this one!!!

For the past 4 cycles, i havent been O'ing when i thought i was, so my 2ww had turned into a 3ww + wait.
If only i knew what was going on with my body i would have realised it was a 3ww wait for O, and a 2ww for AF. SO now that i have that sorted out, this month i might be spot on the money!!!
SO bring on O day!!!

FF is good though hey? How long have u been using it for?

mel79
24-07-2006, 21:42
Len - I would start now - but that might just be me - I'm a bit impatient! :smiliedance:

TJ
25-07-2006, 07:11
Len - at least start the Vitex now - it can take up to 12 weeks to kick in! So get right onto it.

Hmm i suppose it doesnt matter too much about temping - if it were me, i wouldnt be able to hold out and i would be starting now.

Waitning to O when you have long cycles is ahundred times worse than the TWW.

At least with the TWW you have a finish date you can focus on.

With irrecgular cycles you worry about yoru body not being normal and doing what it is supposed to. Your DP gets sick of hearing "i think i may be ovulating every third day.

I didn't ovulate till day 48 and day 52 for my two TTC cycles.

BTW, NicoleE, i've often looked at your cycle and don't know how you manage to do it without ever complaining. I hope your specialist sorts it out for you and you have an O soon. Good luck.

But.. don't give up hope, just because you don't ovulate as often doesn't mean you are less fertile each time you do ovulate. It took me two goes to get UTD.

Totally agree - I would love to have a crack at a 2WW! My last cycle was 120 days+ (I stopped counting lol), and this time I am on CD25 with no sign of o yet.

I posted this somewhere else - but trying to BD every day or every two days is just not possible for months on end! I would LOVE to be able to know we were actually doing it at the right time.

And of course, there is always the worry that you are not ovulating at all. I've had the tests for PCOS and everything looks normal, so it's just the waiting game. Patience is my least favourite virtue!

Awww, thanks guys :hugs: I gave up on fertility friend to some extent, I didnt renew my (paid) membership with them but seem to have reverted to the standard 'free' one at this stage. It doesnt even show my whole 'cycle' anymore, cant fit it all on the screen so it starts from day 14!. I have a chart I draw on at home and I update FF every now and then. My acupuncturist (if thats a word!) likes me to use the manual one. I have an appointment at Repromed on the 4th August so am just waiting to see what happens there. I am really impatient though, I just want clomid/drugs ASAP to get me to ovulate so I can have a baby! :D (both my sisters have PCOS so to some extent I know what I might be in for)

I try to keep my mind of it all with buying a few magazines (and nto buying Pregnancy ones, I already have 8 of them! lol)..... or reading a novel. I did try to not check this site for a while but I couldnt help coming back! I thought I might take up knitting or something and found... a cute 'baby's first teddy' which is a flat chrocet teddy made out of the chrochet squares, so its likd of like a blanky-teddy.... (http://www.angelfire.com/va/thevelvetpumpkin/Bear.html) Now I just have to learn how and learn how to understand the pattern instructions! lol Thank god for the internet! :p

Stay away from those baby magazines!!

NicoleE - just had a loko at your chart, you seem to have same prob as me with random ferning on your maybe baby - do you pay any attention to it?

Hey Gals! I'm with you!! Waiting for O is definitely worse than the TWW!! My last cycle was 9 weeks long and am now having acupuncture and taking chinese herbs, so hopefully this cycle will be shorter. Although now that I don't know how long or short it will be - we have started bd'ing every second day from CD9. The problem is how long can we keep going with doing that?? I've given up on the Maybe Baby - and can never figure out my CM. Oh the joy!!! Bring on the TWW!!

I think its more of around the time that I am actually due to O that I do those things... when AF shows her face I'm more than happy to have a few drinks and have my soft cheese etc, but when I'm due to O I stay away from the naughty stuff.

Oh and how I sit. I guess when I'm about to O I really concentrate on my posture and making sure that I dont slouch and 'squash' the egg - lol. Crazy now I think about it. Quite absurd

Jules16

I guess I really should cut back on the coffee. Is anyone else doing that? I only have one cup a day though.

No, I dont really pay attention to it at the moment. Infact lately I am not even using it. I probably wont even use it until I know I am going to ovulate in a cycle, either if/when I am put on Clomid or if I start to have regular cycles and know when to expect O.

"Oh and how I sit. I guess when I'm about to O I really concentrate on my posture and making sure that I dont slouch and 'squash' the egg - lol. Crazy now I think about it. Quite absurd"

Oh Pink Lady - nothing is absurd when your TCC, but you've sure made me smile:laughing:.

MJ - I thought about cutting back on coffee, but I only have 1 or 2 a day ever and looking at the supposed safe limits its well within it.

I've given up on Maybe Baby since it shows nothing, and CM is just as inconclusive. Yesterday I took an OPK for the first time and NOTHING only the control line, the faint test line (its only positive when dark according to the pack) that was supposed to show was missing - am I destined to never see 2 lines on a test???? My last cycle the temps were pretty good so I'll stick to that.

Despite all that I think I may have O'd in the last few days, For stupid reasons really. I usually take my temp when I get in to bed, just for fun, and its usually about 0.2 higher than the morning one I record and last night it was finally up at 36.95, this morning though it was still the usual low . . . and tonight I'm going away to a different time zone and cooler place so who knows what effect that will have. So maybe even my temps won't be reliable anymore . . .

sooooo I decided to have a go at feeling my CP "eekkk: I think it was high yesterday, not that I really have anyting to go on and today it seems to have dropped a little . . . . .

sure does suck if you don't even know if your in the TWW :gloomy: still its only been 3 or so weeks so I'm not doing bad compared to some of you.

big O dust to us all!

Bolli - I've read some stuff on a couple of forums about ovulation tests (BTW you can get really cheap ones from fertility naturopath and lullaby conceptions- about $10 for 20!- i used them last cycle and they do work ) and apparently some people get a short and fast rise of LH, so the naturopath recommends that once you get a faint line, to start testing 2-3 times a day so that you can catch the peak of the surge. Hope this makes sense.
So you might have just ov'd or be just about to! Looking at your chart - 'that weird crampy/pee feeling' is probly a good sign that you are about to/or just have ovulated - i got that feeling the day for 4 days in my last cycle, the feeling becoming most intense on the same day i got a BFP on my ov predictor test!
Hope you've been having fun with the bd'ing.
Best of luck,
sending O AND babydust your way,
:D Mel

That's really interesting Mel. Will look out for the faint line and then perhaps start testing two to three times a day. :fingerscrossed: I don't have another 9 week cycle - am only at CD11!! I can't wait forever.

Thanks for the info Mel!

I didn't even get a faint line so fingers crossed it was because it was all over and done with - only time will tell. I think I'll try them properly next cycle.

Yeah I added in the crampy/pee feeling to the chart, because its not quite a cramp but sort of is. I've been getting it on and off so thought I might make some notes to see if it means anything. The first few cycles I got definant unmistakable O cramps, but the last two nothing! Lets hope your right and I have already O'd

Got my :fingerscrossed: for a short or 9 month long cycle for you MJ!

oh my god, I actually got a positive on my ovulation test!! It's actuualy happening. I was so surprised to see the second line that I almost fell off the toilet! I was beginning to think I would never see it.

I was so excited I told two people at work - I am hopeless at keeping my own secrets, imagine how bad I will be if I ever get two lines on a HPT!

Of course I am interstate today, so we missed out on yesterday, but I am getting the next plane I can back!

I got a faint line on my OPK last night - but find it difficult to POAS at work. What's the secret? I can't really take a little container into the toilet here - there is only one toilet and it's might in the middle of the office. :banghead: Lots of bd tonight anyway. How does everyone else feel when they O - any different?

mel79
27-07-2006, 16:48
I have been getting O pain - mild crampy feeling on one side, around where I would normally get AF cramps, but only on one side. I also get slightly tender bbs about 2 days before i O.
What time do u normally finish work? - cos u could cut out your liquids for the last 2 hrs of work and then POAS as soon as u leave -(maybe pinch a plastic cup if they have them at work and go to a public loo if theres still others at work?)
Have fun with the bding!
:fingerscrossed: for you! Here's hoping this will be your month! :D

Jules16

Done your test yet today?

kitty1kat
28-07-2006, 08:35
I hide the plastic cup in my bra, carry my notebook in which I hide the test strip and pretend I am off to a meeting or outside, then duck into the toilet. Sounds very over the top when I write it down, but desparate times....

In my excitement yesterday I left the plastic cup in the loo (empty lol!) - luckily one of the girls at work who I had told went in there after me and found it!

Jules16
28-07-2006, 09:18
Oops!! Very funny!! I might have to start carrying a kit with me. Although my temps went up slightly this morning so am very confused!! I was expecting to get a big O dip very soon. And OPK came up with a BFN last night!!

bad luck with the BFN, it's terrible it all being so confusing.

kitty1kat
28-07-2006, 09:26
well, sounds mildy promising?

I ahve never had a cramp or sore boobs or sickness or any sign of anything to do with AF in my life, so if I get any twinge of anything in the next month I will be beside myself with anxiety and excitement!

Hi Girls,

Which OPK's are best or are they all pretty much the same?

Lullaby have 20 for $35 + $2 postage
Fert Nat have 20 for $14 + 7 postage

(I reckon I would need at LEAST 20)

I haven't priced any at the chemists yet, but I imagine they would be dearer.

Ta... :)

Sorry Len - that is one long cycle. My last cycle was 9 weeks long and I didn't O ten days before AF - by that time I'd given up the bd - big mistake. This cycle just gotta keep up the bd now until AF shows up I think. Do you know if you've O'd yet?

Julie, Your 9 week cycle is keeping me from falling apart. It is nice to know there are others in the same boat!! :hugs:
I haven't been testing, but I'm pretty sure I did at the end of June. I too had given up the BDing... But, it makes no difference now though... I've just dropped DP off at the airport. He's gone to the other side of the country for work.. Just another obstical each month!! :)

I think I'm going to be obsessed with OPK's when I get them though!! :D

I can totally relate. I am on 38 to 40 day cycle right now. I have gone without a period for 2 years before I concieved my son and then they were regular up until about Dec. of last year. I have had a 30 day, 44day, and two 37 day cycles, and now I am on cd1 of a 40 day cycle. I don't chart temps. but have been reading about it and may start doing it. I have been going by cervical mucus and ordered opks online, but haven't gotten them yet, but will use them this month. It is so fustrating!:banghead:

Hi Girls

:hugs: to everyone still waiting to O.

I'm feel silly for worrying about it all, my cycles really aren't that long in comparison to some . . . . I think I may have O'd. FF has prediced I O'd on CD 23, but I'm just not sure this time. I've been travelling a bit so I'm not that confident in my temp . . . on the plus side I'm not stressing about being in the TWW . . . just waiting for something that might confirm anything . . . .

:fingerscrossed: we all O soon and frequently!
