Ok.. I maaaay get shot down for what I did but I felt it was the right thing to do...

Ok, I was at my local mall and I can hear this guy SCREAMING - Eff you, you doggg, come here i'll stab ya!..Nothing out of the ordinary in good ol blacktown...Aaaaaaanyway..

I can see a small child(boy about 8) behind him dragging him away from the GUY HE IS TRYING TO FIGHT!!!!!!!!!..
Then he comes over to ME and says "Hey you got a hot a$$) I wasnt with dd thank god or I would have decked him...Anyway, he keeps walking and tells the boy to wait 'there'. A stair case near the entry to the mall. About 20metres away from me, He goes into a small car park which I am only guessing to either take drugs or buy some. This car park is infamously known as a drug spot.

Anway about 10mins later he still hasnt returned I couldnt bare to leave I was just standing by watching the boy...So another 5-8min go by, so I call the police and they were there in literally 1min. They took the boy which was yelling at them "Let go of me you dogs, I want my effing dad)..I felt so bad for doing that to him, but I know I did the right thing...right?

I know its not my business but before I knew it I was saying.."Hi police please, I have a possibly abandon child":gloomy:

I don't know, you see these horrible things in the news and I can't help but wonder if they could sometimes be prevented if we all involved ourselves more and tried to intervene when we saw children in potential danger.

Perhaps a talking to from the police will make this man have a think about things.

Unfortunately it would have been very scary for the child.

It would be a really hard decision to make. What a creep that father is :barf:.

I think you did do the right thing, I mean if the father was off to 'get high' at least the son didn't have to deal with him afterwards.

I know what you mean though I just want to cry for kids and families in situations like these :crying:, but there is only so much any of us can do.... Good on you for calling the police though as a lot of people probably would have just kept walking by and not worried about the boy.

Oh and after that, I saw a baby girl her mum told me she was 1 tomorrow, who had dermatitis on her feet it was bleeding all over the pram, then her mum let her out and the pour thing was rubbing her little foot on the gravel, I think it was itchy. Half her big toe was missing coz it had scabbed and just fell off...

I said do you wash her foot, take her too the doctors..she said she does, but i don't believe her...:gloomy:

Her name was Kalani..I hope her little feet get better..:fingerscrossed:

Of course you did the right thing. Who knows if you didn't call maybe they would have had a missing child on their hands. Just spoke to DH, they're looking for a missing child who has disappeared from Carindale shopping center. Scary, they haven't found him :(. What if someone had of rang the police or whatever if they noticed him missing or someone dragging him away, maybe he'd be found by now.

You did the right thing. That child should not have been left alone. If it was for a legitimate reason (highly unlikely given the story) it won't be a big deal, but more likely it has highlighted a young boy in need. I hope he gets the help he needs.

As for the little girl with the dermatitis. My ds had shocking legs and he'd seen a paed. Sometimes it's not simple to fix.

poor boy...

I don't know what i would do, in all honesty I probably wouldn't have called the police but I think you were very brave to do it. I think situations like this often need someone to bite the bullet and do something.

You did the right thing

i no blacktown and the type of person u talk about wont change.... been at it to long to change.

:iagree:

Its ingrained into them from their parents & grandparents.
Redfern & places here are just the same.

Someone needs to break the cycle for things to change.

I agree with everyone else. You definately made the right decision. Hopefully there will be intervention for child protection and something good may come of this.

 Absolutely you did the right thing, even if the dad wasnt off taking drugs what kind of person leaves their 8 year old boy in a car park alone that is notorious for being a drug spot and 5 minuets beforehand threatened to stab someone, what happens if the man he threatened saw the boy alone

Wow- yes, I think you did the right thing. But unfortunately it seems that some kids lives are planned out in front of them before they are even born just because of their parents/role models. It's sad that these kids rarely stand a chance.:(
