Hi there,

I am looking at buying bottles for bubs and have not been happy with the quality of the Avent bottles I have purchased. For some unknown reason they seem to leak, I don't know whether I purchased a couple of bad bottles. I have left a message for Avent to call me back and they haven't bothered so I have lost my faith in there quality products and service . Any suggestions?

Thanks :santa:

Hi,

My sister used Avent and said the same thing about them leaking but I also know a few people who have used them and haven't had a problem so who knows.

I use tommee tippee closer to nature and we've never had a problem with them.

Good luck! :)

I use avent. Sometimes if the lid isn't on correctly they do leak. I was really cranky when it first happened and was speaking to my sister who used tommee tippee and told her I was thinking of changing but she told me not to bother as she had the same problem with their bottles????

Hi there......

We use Avent bottles, I had problems in the first two weeks with leaking but I eventually got the hang of them.... Basically I figured out that the teats need to be suctioned into the plastic surround..... When you put the teats back in the top give them an extra pull to make sure they are in there properly... Then when warming, unscrew to release the pressure and do back up tightly! This makes sure there is no air in between the teat and the plastic!

Hope it helps!

I used to have the same problem with advent and googled it. If you tighten the tops too much they leak. So I do not do them up too much and they are much better.

Are the Pigeon system ones still sold? They looked great. I've heard good and bad about Tommee Tippee. The other is Nuk, heaps of our parents use those ones and I've found them easy to use and haven't had a problem with leaking.

I use tommee tippee bottles too. Do you have the correct teat on the bottle? It can sometimes leak out when bub is feeding if you have the wrong flow on. Don't ask me why...

as mentioned above it only when the lids aren't on properly, if they are done up properly they are great

Hi all many thanks for your replies.

Hmmm I thought I was screwing the lid on properly and pulling the teat enough into place, I will give it another go...how frustrating so much milk has been coming out.

Thanks again :flowerz:

I tried lots of bottles and teats with DS, the best for us were the skinny Nuk ones with the clear teats

i bought all avent bottles when DS was born i liked them because they were wider necked bottles but i found them really hard to get the milk out of and DS was really having to suck hard. I ended up buying NUK first choice they were heaps better really happy with them his colic was alot better

Pigeon is still sold, but mainly only in chemists, they are usually highly recommended by alot of midwives for breastfed babies. We loved them, as a bf baby DD refused everything else, glad we borrowed to test instead of buying.

We use the Pigeon Peristaltic regular neck bottles as my DD hated the wider Tommee Tippee and Avent ones. We love them!

If you overtighten any bottle they will leak!

I heard Tommee Tippee is good, especially for breast milk.

I had trouble with Avent bottles leaking too until I found this trick. When doing the lid up, twist it clockwise as if you are undoing it until you hear three clicks. Once you've heard the third click, twist the lid counterclockwise until the lid is firm. Since I have been doing this, I haven't had any leaks at all. I'm happy and DD isn't saturated at the end of every feed.
