View Full Version : what to mix with avacado?

hi there, Brodie has been on very basic solids (apple, farex, pear, banana, pumpkin, potato etc..) for about a month now. my chn told me that avacado was good for bubbies, and as i cant stand it i have no idea what to mix it with for it to taste nice.

i mixed some with pureed apple and he reluctently ate that, is there anything else it goes with???

my ds never really liked it so I have never tried this, but lots of mums I know mix it with banana and apparently that is a big hit!! Failing that, you could try it on toast with lots of salt and pepper.........lol! yum - for mums!!

I have read of it mixed with banana or with some natural yoghurt.

why didnt i think of banana :confused:
he has gobbled up all the avarcardo and banana and is now chewing my wrist as i type :rolleyes:

Avacado & Banana's is a hit with DS...
It just a shame banana's are so expensive and not very tasty at the moment...

Yup, avocado and banana was a hit with DD1 too. :yes: Silly me hasn't even tried it with DD2 yet....must try.

bananas and avocado, mashed together is a sure hit :) You can also mix it with milk. And maybe when bub's a little older, you can give him a tuna salad with avocado? My DS loves it! And remember avocado turns brown quickly so serve it right away and never freeze it. :) Have fun in the kitchen!

My little boy just eats straight avocado... about half a one per day... he LOVES it!

Just make sure you get Hass avocados, shepherd avocados blow. I hate it when shepherds are in season. :thumbsdown:

Hehehe Hass are the nice plump ones with purple skin when ripe. They are creamier, have a more subtle taste and mash really well. Im pretty sure they are only out of season for a month or two.

Shepherd are the skinnier smoother green skinned ones. They taste more peanuty and are harder to mash n stuff. I hate them!!

this sounds off, but my gran in QLD use to put this on our toast when we were kids and i give it to ej and have it on my toast most mornings is avacado mashed with promite to taste it,s yummo, ej has it on toast now but when he was younger he would eat it of the spoon, have a try you will be suprised all my bubby,s have loved it:thumbsup:
