I'd do a poll but I don't even know what ranges are within the realm of normal.
DS just turned 8 months and he's nowhere near double his birthweight yet.
Hmm thats a good question. Im off to check his red book.

DD has just doubled her birth weight at 4 months, she is FF if that makes a difference.
I think my DD was around 6 or 7 months.
I thought they were supposed to double their birthweight at 6 months?
DD was 4.11kg at birth and 8 kg just after 6 months. Now at 18 months, she is 13kg.
I've been a bit lax at keeping records.
i think it was by 8 or 9 months. But I'm not entirely sure.
He was a little over 4kg at birth, but he weighs less than 10kg at 14 months. He's a skinny little thing, like his father.

I've been weighing him every 1 - 2 weeks just to make sure he's still gaining, however small the actual gain might be, and I figured I'll stop once he's doubled his birthweigt and can finally relax a little... but since he was born he's only put on 2.8kg.
This is a kid who's on three meals a day, and snacks, and has added formla to his cereal, as well as breastfeeding several times a day. He must have hollow legs! LOL

DS1 was 2mths and 1 week when he doubled his weight
(he was only 1705gms born so it wasn't hard) 3410gms
DS2 was 10wks old (he was 2133gms born) 4266gms

uhm.. 4 months i believe.
she was a small bub, though.. 2.85kgs.
i think "they" say bubs should double by 6 months and triple by 12.

my ds was born 3kgs, and is 11kgs now.. FF and 2 meals a day sometimes 3
im pretty sure he doubled his weight by the time he was 4 months

Oh gosh, DD doubled her birth weight really quickly (born 3.6kg), though she was always a chubby baby (and was formula fed) so at a guess, it would have been around 4-5 months? Definitely by 6 months anyway.
But DS on the other hand, was a skinny, slow gainer (and was breastfed) and didn't double his birth weight (born 4.1kg but dropped to 3.5kg) until somewhere between 12-14 months. He was weighed at 6 months and was just a tad over 5kg then the next time he was weighed he was 14 months and was 10.5kg, so he would have easily been at least 1yo before he doubled.
*shrugs* he's quite the heavy weight these days though, not chubby at all, but far out he's solid!

DD2 doubled at 12 months, is 2 1/4 years and hasn't quite tripled yet - She was 4.58kg born, 9kg at 12 months.

Phew! Nice to know there's a few other out there seemingly like DS. LOL He was a hefty 4.05kg born, and he STILL hasn't managed to make it to 7kg, let alone 8!
No 1 double at 7mths
No 2 " 5 mths
No 3 " 10 mths
No 4 " 14mths
No 5 " 16 mths
All breast fed.
DS was 4.41kg born
and at 6mths he weighed 8.40kg so about 6.5mths.
Now he weighs about 13kg at 19mths.

He was 3.8kg born and doubled by 13 weeks
DD was born 3.8 kgs
6months she was roughly 5.5 and now 13months she's roughly 10kgs. She's booby fed

Ds was born 3.8kg came home at 3.5 kg and at 8 weeks was 7.2kg so roughly 2 months, this wasn't formula feeding either I was exclusively bf but stopped after 8 weeks, so he just grew quickly and had an early growth spurt?

my DD was 3.3kg born, and didnt double her birth weight til she was 9 months old. she was fully FF too from 5 weeks old due to reflux and from 5 months found out she was Lactose intolerance so on LF formula til 11months.
she has always been really petite, shes now 18 months old and only just over 9kg.
it differs from every baby, all babies are different... would be pretty boring if they were all the same...
if your worried though, theres no harm in visiting chn, gp or paed :)

Hi Nonny! DS is 8 1/2 months and still hasn't doubled his birthweight. he was born 3.94kg and is only 7.18kg now. Mostly BF, 3 meals a day (doesn't each much).

DS1 was around 14wks
DS2 is now 11wks and has almost doubled BW. 3.4kg born and is about 6kg now.

DD1 was 1056gr at birth & 2.1kg at 7 weeks.
DD2 1124gr at birth & 2.2kg at 7 weeks.
DS 1404gr at birth & 2.6 at 7 weeks. I think he hit 3kg at 8 weeks old.
They didnt weight much at birth & took close to 2 weeks to get back to birth weight. Now weigh 7.2, 6.6 & 6.5kg. So 6 times their birth weight.
Born 2.9, 5.8 at either 3 or 4 mths, can't remember
Fully BF, about 10 times a day!
8.8 at 9 mths, so pretty much tripled now.

dont worry your not alone, my ds was 3.4kg at birth and by 3 months has doubled, he's tripled at 6 months instead of 12 mnths
he's FF.

I love it how they seem to double in weight right after a feed when they're all floppy and relaxed. :goodvibes:
He's already been checked out as AOK... it's just frustrating watching him stretch and stretch and stretch, and yet not gain much weight. Poor boiy is gonna be like his dad methinks. Migt have to start buying shares in the the "Big n Tall" stores (or buy a basketball team) LOL

By the time he was 4 months, he was exclusively breast fed also.
(BW 4kg)
DD born at 3.8kgs, doubled at around 8 months
At 13 months (now) she is about 9.3kgs
about 2 years was 3 kilo born

My DD doubled her BW just after 7 months. She was born 3.86kg. She was just under 7.5kg at 6 months (2xBW is 7.72kg)
She was fully BF, no solids, until 6 months. She is now BF and has solids 3x day (mainly BLW)
My friend's DS is 12months and is only just 8.5kg (He was FF from 4 months.) For a few months the Dr's were sure there "must" be something wrong with him and ran a lot of tests. Turns out he's just small.
DS1 - 3815gm at birth and double that at 3.5 months
DS2 - 3800gm at birth and double that at 4 months
both exclusively bf
