Hi and congratulations on your new baby!

I remember when my bub was that young I thought her 'routine' wasn't great, but according to my Child health nurse anything from ten poos a day to one poo every ten days is normal.

But if you are worried speak to your CHN or GP.

Goodluck (and I hope you are getting some sleep!)

Hi there.

Formula can cause constipation, but unless the poo is hard dark pebbles, that's not it.

Perhaps you could try giving him a small amount of cooled boiled water - say 20ml? And make sure you are mixing the formula exactly right - don't add more powder than it says. One poo a day for a formula fed baby is a minimum.

Good luck!

Jo

:p

Congratulations on your new bub!

I remember giving my DS Jake a little bit of brown sugar dissolved in a bottle of warm water to gently loosen poo's.

But for such a newbie, its prob best to check first.

Congratulations on your new little man.

That is normal for him to be pooing like that. Unless his poos start feeling like rocks there is no need to worry. But if you are concerned contact your early childhood nurse.

As the others have said it is perfectly normal to poo once a day. Constipation has to do with the consistancy (hard, dry) and if they are straining to poo.
Sometimes it a matter of trying a few formulas before you find the one that works best for your baby. S26 made DD constipated, Hinez mad DS constipated, for they Karicare workd best.

Good luck and enjoy you beautiful newborn
