We have been living in Leichhardt for 2 mths now and I am feeling quite lost. I need some ADULT company. I have 2 boys aged 4yrs and 11wks and altough I love them to bits and they keep me on my toes, I am so bored. If there is anyone out there in Ipswich area PLEASE SAVE ME!!! :p
I'm moving to Ipswich in the new year! I don't have any of my own kiddies yet - I'm a teacher that stubbled across the hub and got addicted! :o:D
But I won't know anyone and would love to meet up!

I did get a Nanny job! But it was only for the holiday period while I was looking for something more permanent! :)
This job came completely out of the blue! I applied thinking I wouldnt even be considered (as NO private schools have considered me before) and then I was shocked when I got an interview and even MORE shocked when they offered me the job!
We are looking at a place to rent in Brassall...is that a nice suburb???

It looks like a nice suburb (I take DD to music lessons there) but I don't know alot about it.
You would be very close to most things though.

Thats just on the other side of the Air base from us.
Miss N, Good luck with the house hunting. I hope you get the one you want. I always believed Ipswich was a crap place from what I had heard but now I live here I love it....apart from being lonely.

Thanks Florence! I sure will! We have booked the truck hire so we better get the unit!
Might go look at places in Rosewood too! I am really not sure about which suburbs to avoid! Any tips?

Im really glad we are in a nice area because we bought the house which means we will be here for a fair few years. lol
when we were house hunting, we looked in a few suburbs in Ipswich and Leichhardt seemed to be one of the good ones. The best idea is to go for a drive through some of the area in the times it would be the busiest, being xmas holidays now would be a good time to go.
I am thinking about starting a bit of a mums social group. Im thinking the Queens park would be a great place to take the kids where we can have coffee and they can play. The problem is not knowing anyone to do that with. lol.

Sammie there is an Ipswich thread floating around somewhere....not sure if they met or meet regularly but I do know a meeting in Queens park was mentioned somewhere.
Miss N I am more rural than Ipswich and am about 25 minutes from there....Rosewood is quite a small town...population is about 6000.
We love it here though :goodvibes:
Hey Guys,
I'm REALLY REALLY close to all of you guys. We've just moved back to Walloon! So Florence... you're only like a 5 min drive from me! Have you lived in Rosewood a long time??
Amy! I can't believe you got to WMAC! (that's where i went to highschool and my 12 yr old cousin still goes there)... That's awesome... congrats! Last time i was talking to you, you were deciding whether or not to leave your ed qld job. What class did you get?? Brassall's nice. There's a bit of a dodgy part near the shopping centre but it's not too bad.
I've always lived in ipswich (except for a teaching stint out in central qld) so I know most areas around here. So... I'm always up for new friends! I'd be up for a meet :-) :smiliedance:

When did you moved back? Had you lived in Walloon long previously?
Can't wait to meet all you ladies!

What does everyone think of a meet up in the new year? New year + new friends.... I couldn't think of a better way to kick it off :D
oh and just thought I would ask first....is it ok if I add u all on here? and I was thinking of starting an 'Ipswich Mummy's' group on FB.
Florence - I moved back in the middle of Nov! I grew up in walloon. Which is lovely... downside is that Walloon/Rosewood/Ipswich is so small everyone knows everyone! :-) Glad you like it here tho!
Amy - I got a transfer back to Ipswich... they haven't given me a school yet cuz I go off maternity leave next nov. So i'm doing Relief stuff (but still on permanent) till the end of 2010 and then I'll be appointed a school start of 2011! Yay! So exciting cuz we were worried that cuz I didn't do 3 yrs out west, they wouldn't let me transfer! And yep... Gotcha on FB!
Sammie - Sounds like a plan to me...

We tend to stick to ourselves out here. So that, coupled with being very new to the area, sees that we aren't 'known' or 'know' anyone LOL.
My neighbours have lived here forever and they are very well known and respected in the area. They are a wealth of knowledge....anytime I need to know something about anything in general or someone I just ask them
Yes, I think saying that I am 23 works well for me....
A meeting in the new year sounds great to me....not sure I am keen for Queens park though (part of the reason I didn't go to the Queens park meet up) but there are lots of other parks around and because we are scattered about, but still close in distance, maybe we could change the venue each time if all goes well the first time?

:iagree: It gets to boring with the same thing everytime. There are so many parks around here. There is one 3 houses away from us, then another about 8 houses away then one in the next street over and a big one on the main st which is 10min walk away.:)

Awww. any sign of labour yet or is she to comfortable in there?? DS1 was born on his due date but DS2 made me wait an extra 5 days. It was the longest 5 days of my life. I tried everything to bring him on but he wasn't budging. lol

That is SO good! I'm really happy for you! I have heard that leave is still counted towards your country service so maybe thats why you got your transfer as at the beginning of 2011 you would of technically done your 3 years!
I was on a 12 month contract and at the end of the day they chose to give next years contract to someone else...but thats a WHOLE other story that I am happy to share - just not on here! :)
So I felt really disheartened after giving up SO much of my personal life to ensure my career was going somewhere and after all that I felt like I was left with nothing! I applied for the WMAC job along with TONNES of others at private schools and didnt think I would even get a look in! I was SOOOOO happy when they offered me the job at WMAC!!! I feel like its a foot in the door so to speak!

We have only been there once and quite liked it, they have a nice restaurant there and the Nerima gardens are so beautiful we are considering it as a possible cerimony venue when we get married next year. I guess being a local you would have been there alot more though and seen alot more.

also on queenspark, i have never had an issue there other than it being such a huge space so very easy for a child to run if anyone has that kind of child. (like one of mine)

There sure are. There is one that meets the corner of our yard then another a few houses away, one in the next street over then the Leichhardt/One Mile park not far away and a few more in walking distance. I love it here. There is so much for a young family to do
