Hi all,

Got a tip via email and thought I would share it with you all as it really does work!

I went and bought two cheap bottles (Happy Baby - 2 for $2.99) from the chemist and filled them with just enough water so when turned upside down, the teat and first cm or so of the bottle filled. I stood the bottle upside down in the freezer and left overnight.

I gave it to our little man (who is teething :( and just cut his second tooth) and he happily chewed and sucked away on it for over half and hour. You could almost see the relief on his little face. Almost instantly, he stopped crying and really really settled. I have just put him into bed and for the first time this week, he is not whimpering in his sleep :smiliedance:.

Thought you guys might like to try it too.....

Hope you have as much success as we did.

I thought you weren't really meant to freeze teething rings (fridge only) etc in case their lips/tougue stuck to plastic since frozen

Yeah...I'm a little worried too...gave it to DD this morning and she bit and made quite sharp pieces of ice in the teat....it was worth a shot though..

I always freeze them and I've given the boys ice when their teething also.
I've also peeled and seeded cucumber, which DS2 loves. That helps too.

I think the plastic is different with the teats than teething rings etc, that is maybe why they are suggested.

We've had no problems with teat sticking to mouth or with any sharp ice bits. I found the cheaper bottles have a softer yet super strong teat. I think that makes the difference. I wouldn't use my avent teats for this purpose though, as I don't think they would do the same job.

I guess it just comes down to what works for your bub doesn't it? This works for us, but something else may work for you.

Good Luck..... whatever you do!

Sarie: Thanks for the tip about the cucumber. How old was bub when you first tried that?

I think he was about 7 or 8 months, he didn't get his first tooth till he was 11 months. Though having said that if I had thought of it earlier 5-6 months I probably would have tried it then too, just made the chunk bigger.
