View Full Version : "Predicting" poos
Hi ladies, this is probably an odd question, but...
For those who use flushable liners or reuseable liners, do you use one for EVERY nappy change of can you kind of predict which nappies will be dirtied (in relation to feeds etc)?
Flushables seem expensive and wasteful if I have to use one for every change, but if its possible to predict which nappies will be soiled then I can see the benefit.
I use washable liners and brought 2mtrs of microfleece that has made around 50 liners. They dry super fast so I use one every nappy change.
However now my boys are older I could mark down the times they poo and then "predict" when they will poo.
I find though with washable liners it also saves any stains (wee or poo) getting onto the nappies and of course I can use bum cream if need be without any worry.
I have never used flushable (well I did for 2 weeks) but found them expensive, wasteful and didn't stop the poo from getting onto the nappy anyway.
I've only recently made my first forray into sewing (part of the nesting urge I think!!) but I guess liners can't be hard to make.
If I just go to spotlight or somewhere and ask for microfleece, they'll know what I'm looking for, right?
I brought mine from a nappy cloth supply shop here in Brisbane. Spotlight didn't know the difference between microfibre and microfleece.
And the best part about them - they require no sewing. Just cut into large oblong and use. They don't frey or anything so no heming needed.
Sounds perfect  - can I ask which shop, as I'm a Brisbane girl too
My DD usually only poos once a day in the morning so i put liners in the 1st nappy or until it comes then stop. Sometimes I miss one but they are pretty solid, not too hard.
I use microfleece but don't quite have enough for every nappy. I really should just stop being lazy and get some more fleece, our local spotlight stocks it.
I can't think of the name right now - and my google is giving me grief but its called something along the lines of The Cloth Nappy Shop and its in Kingston, Logan area. Bek - who owns the shop is really sweet - has heaps of different colours and is super helpful.

If your north side of Brisbane Fairy Fabrics also sells microfleece. You order online and can go pick it up, I believe they are in the Arana hills area.

My boy is nearly six months and is still only breastfed and does a poo couple of times a week. So once he does a poo I won't use liners for a couple of days. When he used to do a poo several times a day then I used it all the time.
Sometimes I get lazy and won't use any regardless. His poos aren't that bad to deal with for me. I just give the nappy a rinse under the tap before chucking it in the bucket.
I bought I think 5 rolls of liners when I moved up to mediums and I think they will last me till he is out of the nappies. I guess it'll depend on what his poos will be like when he starts eating food too.
I use eenie weenies and cut them in half. I wash every second day so wash day I don't bother using liners. =D
Sorry to hijack- but how much does Spotlight charge/metre do you know?
I just looked at the cloth nappy shop online and they charge $10/m for the microfleece...just wondering if it's worth just getting it online to save a trip to our spotlight (bout half hour away from me) so if I could save $$ going into the store.
(im in NSW so no local cloth nappy suppliers near me that i know of)

My local Spotlight charge (at full price) $12 a metre for microfleece. I haven't looked for a little while, but it maybe reduced atm.
The microfleece from The Cloth Nappy Shop is far better quality than Spotlight.

cool thanks might just buy it online then :)
Yeah I would go with the fleece from the cloth nappy shop. She has loads of colours and they are really thick and soft. And like I posted earlier 2mtrs will give you a bundle of liners. And they are great for bum wipes when bubs have nappy rash (soft and don't irritate). Any extra I have used for snot rags - again due to the softness.
