Lallas' Mum

Just a question to throw out there to parents of two or more kids or those who know families with two or more.
My first son is a chatterbox. He talks all day long, has a million and one sayings and a very extensive vocabulary. He started using words in context before his first birthday and surprise his daycare teachers with his use of words when he started in care at around 14 months of age.
My DS2 is almost an exact opposite. He understands what is being said to him and can follow instructions very well. He can also mimic words very clearly but only if he wants too. He'll say the word once and never again. He usually points, grunts or whinges. He is nearly 15 months old and is only just starting to use some words.
I am far from worried about his development as I think he is doing fine. It just seems that everyone I speak to except for my Mum says that their first was a chatterbox and spoke for the second born who never seemed interested in uttering a word.
Does everyone one else agree or disagree that this is just what happens with the second born child?
