I washed mine about a month ago... I would have put it off till later, but Hubby was getting antsy

I still have loads of things to wash as we got some great usable baby clothes as presents, but I figure bub has enough to keep her going for now.

I wouldn't wash stuff until 3-4 weeks beforehand. That way it's nice and fresh :)

As for washing, I read in a few books that it's fine to use your normal powder, but only use 1/2 of the recommended amount. Same with fabric softener. I did change to a powder for sensitive skin though. Haven't had any reactions or anything, so it's working for us :xmas:

Have fun! I enjoyed setting up our nursery. Another thing to do is take a photo of all the clothes on the line. It's very cute to see them all out!!

HI SpecialKbaby, are you in our May baby thread?

I did my babies clothes a few months before I was due. I'd packed my hospital bag very early because I was excited, then I unpacked it in april and washed the clothes and re packed. :)

I wanted the 1st clothes to be worn, as fesh as possible, but after that all the clothes I'd washed were fine. They didn't smell musty or give baby any rashes.

Same here. Washed DS's baby clothes about a month before and used Lux soap flakes. Reminds me I will need to buy it again and rewash the baby clothes I already have!

I haven't washed anything yet (I'm 38+4).

I don't think it matters when you do it. If you're excited and want to do it now - do it now! You can always wash them again if you think they get musty (or you just feel like it).

I washed my baby clothes about 8 weeks before because I was sure she was coming early - she ended up coming on her due date! I didn't re-wash them, but they were fine after sitting in the drawers for 8 weeks. I was glad I did wash them early because I was too exhausted in the last 3 weeks to do anything.

I wash my clothes and all baby's clothes in Earth Choice Laundry Liquid. I use it because it doesn't make me sneeze like most other liquids and powders as it is mild. Since it is phosphate free and all that jazz, I figure it is fine for babies too and I have had no probs using for my kids.

Glad you liked the tip - my sister gave it to me!

Yep. I washed everything. You never know what has happened to the fabric during production/packaging etc!

I didn't want to wash bub's clothes too early as I didn't want them to get musky or a smell to them. I did my first wash mid November and I'm due in January. I took one day out and I just washed everything we'd purchased & had been given including wraps, cot sheets, mittens and all that stuff. In fact, I washed all the MCNs first because you really need a day to do that if you wash them 6 consecutive times like I did.

You are not due till May so I wouldn't wash anything until mid - late March... (unless you want to redo them again later if they smell or if they get dirty because you keep playing with them! Hmmm, I didn't touch bub's clothes all the time did I???)

HTH. :santa:

Yup you buy the Lux flakes from the washing powder aisle in any shopping centre!
