View Full Version : Black spot on gum!
HELP! I have just realised a darkish bruise colored spot on my dds gum..she is 13mnths. Im thinking it might be a tooth coming through and then she has chomped on something and caused a bleed inside the gum..What do you think? Has anyone else seen this with their bubs?

I haven't seen it on gums, but a few weeks ago, matthew fell in the hallway and his mouth landed on one of his trucks. He had a huge black/red lump come up on his top lip, it looked really gross for about 2-3 days.
If it doesn't look any better in a couple of days, it might be worth while having someone check her out.

I haven't had anything like this yet, but if I did the first place I would head would be to the baby nurse at my local chemist. I visit Terry White here on the Gold Coast and see the RN that goes there 3 times a week (she goes there, not me ::o ). I have been taking bub there usually fortnightly since 4 weeks old and she is BRILLIANT!!! She has helped so much with teething and introducing solids, and always helps out with any problems.
Do you have anything like that near you?
It is a totally free service, and she even updates bubs health record and weighs and measures him for me.
Can't recommend this service highly enough!
Good luck.

We had exactly the same thing a few weeks ago and I completely freaked out till a friend suggested it was like a little bruise where the tooth was coming through. Two days later - the tooth came through.
My thought were only of decay and I was devastated. If it's not causing discomfort / illness I'd wait a few days and see what happens.

DS had a similar thing recently, teh first thing I thought was that the tooth was going to come through black:eek: When I calmed down a bit I had another look and it king of loked like a vein under the surface - like theta dark bluey/purple colour.......am I making any sense?? In the end, a tooth popped through in a couple of days and all was fine! I'd say that is probably all it is, but if you are concerned, maybe get your gp or health nurse to have a look.
