finding it difficult to clean penis

Hi everyone,

My 4mth old son was circumcised at 2 weeks & the doc said he has a lot of puppy fat on his penis, & therefore when Alex is cold his penis disapear in the skin & looks uncircumcised. He has a little bit of extra skin & i am finding it difficult to clean his penis. The doc said the extra skin will go once he starts running around & as he grows but in the meantime how do i keep it clean?

Hi

I'd just be making sure it had a good swishing around (for want of a better expression!!!) in the bath. Its just the same as all the other bits of the body that are hard to clean - like the folds of skin that you need to get into on their legs etc.

I have the same problem with DS - just had him circumcised and has the puppy fat problem - my doc said to keep pulling it back gently so it doesn't re-adhere to the glans and to make sure i clean out the leftover smegma ("cheese") underneath because it hangs over. He didn't say to use anything special - wipe gently I suppose. Is working for me and bub hasn't told me off yet!
