Hi all

my baby is 2 and 1/2 weeks old and over the last week has started to bring up milk after each feed - it is just the milk and there is no gagging whatsoever but when it comes up it is projectile.

he also makes alot of noise (sounds like he is clearing a bubble in his throat when feeding...)

he has also started to gag the last 2 days while I am burping him...

I had to have soy milk when I was a baby and am wondering if it sounds to you guys that he may be lactose intolerant or possibly suffer reflux or something.

I have called my pead but she is away for the next few weeks so I have to wait until the 6 week check up to see her...

I wouldn't wait until your pead is back I would get your little boy checked over by your GP. Vomiting, especialy projectile in babies between 3 and 6 weeks needs to be checked by a Dr. A dr can check for lactose intolerance with a symple poo sample but they will also need to rule out other conditions suce as pyloric stenosis(a blockage at the bottem of the stomach). My Ds had this condition so if you want any more detail just let me know.

Hi my bubs was a vomiter and is slowly growing out of it - it was a simple reflux issue. He would vomit on breastmilk as well. I started giving him a lesser amount at a time and it seemed to help. But once he started solids at 5 months, it slowly reduced.

If it is a lactose intolerance issue - your bub would be very restless and be in pain and be hard to settle.

Connor had reflux but he wasn't in any pain. DR prescribe infant gaviscon but i found this didn't really have an affect as he wasn't in pain. MCHN told me to put thickener in his bottle - but this gave him constipation. So in the end Dh & I agreed that we would put up with the vomiting - and called the happy little chucker as it didn't bother him.

We had this with DD too and it turns out she IS lactose intolerant... She also had runny poo's and a rash on her belly... We took her to our GP before we changed formula though. Good luck- :fingerscrossed: you figure it out- such a difficult time!!

We had similar problems with our boys. We tried soy formula and it just made things worse, also gave DS1 terrible wind so we put him onto Goat formula (DH had to have goat milk as a baby also) and after that he was 100% better. So we tired DS2 with Karicare Gold at first and after the first tin put him straight onto Karicare Goat formula as well.

I have been really slack not getting back on to give you guys an update, he still seems to throw up alot after some bottles so I am trying to feed him more upright and stop him for burping and not giving him any more bottle until he does burp...

it seems to be working - I just seem to be feeding him more but if it stops him throwing up half his bottle then I am happy with that!!!

I am starting to think half his issue was constipation because once he went tp the toilet he seemed to settled alot better

I am still thinking of changing his formula so am off to see someone about it this week

Thanks for all your help
