Hi everyone,

My 4mth old son constantly has his hands in his mouth & dribbles so much i have to change his clothes regularly. I was just needing to know is it ok to just keep letting him chew & suck on his hands? He has quite a bad teething rash on his cheeks & chin & i dont know what to do to clear it up?
Any suggestions for deterring him from it every now & then just to give his hands & face a break from the saliva? I have teething rings, which he will chew on for a few seconds but then goes back to hes fingers again !
Can anyone offer some advice? He has even gotten to the point of cheekily taking out his dummy to replace it with his fingers. I dont mind him munching away but I am concerned with the redness on his face.

Thanks

Your son sounds so much like mine (even with his bath time!)
He also loves munching on his hands and in a couple of minutes is drenched in drool! At the moment I put a bib on him when he is in a very drooly mood! But I would love to hear other peoples suggestions as well! :D

Hi there
My DS was so like this and i thought it would NEVER END !!

We would use lots of bibs to save constant top changes and whenever possible put some bepanthen or pawpaw cream on his chin and cheeks.
This would work like a barrier to the dribble and help soothe the already red area.

and then it passes :)

If it's any consolation, for my dd it was only the first teething that produced so much dribbling and red cheeks. As they get older the drooling & redness fades, perhaps they're better as swallowing the extra spit (around the 5-6 month mark as with starting solids?).

Hi all,

Have not posted for quite few months now, harun by this age is now 15 months old his latest drama of development I wish to enquire about and get some advise for is his drooling. He drools TOO much that is soaks the front of what ever he is wearing. Is this much drooling normal and how can we get it to leasten or stop all together.
