Hi,
My MIL was looking after DD for 2 hours today and she has just left, and I have realised that she gave her 3 scoops of formula in 125ml of water instead of 180ml.

(I put the formula in a premeasured container)

Should I be worried? As I know they state on the container that it is important to measure it correctly as it can make them sick.

I tried calling Wyeth (the formula company) but they are closed.

Is it something that only makes them sick if regulary done?

Thanks!

ahhh...

Just the once should be ok.
If you are woried you could give bubs some water.

You may get some constipation or a tummy ache.

I would give some water...warm boiled water....

I think it will be fine. I couldn't tell you how many times I have probably measured the formula incorrectly in my sleep deprived state lol.

I think it could make her a little backed up or maybe give her a bit of a belly ache but as PP said maybe just give her a drink of water :)

I agree with the pp's as dd was prem she came home on 1/50mls to increase weight gain and the formula was meant to be 1/60mls I think it's more about the calories they will get and obviously on a continuous basis they will suffer weight problems! So I think a once off not much to worry about :) I agree just some water might be the way to go :)

 It's all good. It's not reccomended to do it unless a paed/dr is instructing it as it's a big calorie boost. A friends bub was tube fed until just after his first birthday and they were often advised to 'calorie load' his formula - which was sometimes an extra scoop or 2.
