View Full Version : Diet during ms gone bad
Hi Ladies,
I've read thru the ms thread which I'm constantly having nausea during the day & dry reaching around 10pm every 2nd night.
My concern is, I keep reading that I should have a good diet but I'm feeling guilty for my growing bub that I cannot give s/he the good food they require.
Now pregnant @12.5 weeks I use to love Salmon but just the smell makes me vomit. I loved to eat healthy (lentils, fish, salads, nuts etc) but once I was 6 weeks pregnant everything changed.
My diet now consists of:
tom & cheese toasted sandwich,
icecream,
ginger beer,
mash potatoes
oj
wheetbix with milk
crisp chips, crisp and craving more crisps.
These foods I generally dont eat except my wheetbix with milk. I'm a porridge gal but cant even stomach that anymore.
I havent cooked dinner for about 6 weeks due to my ms. All foods during the cooking stage makes me vomit.
Is anyone else in the similar boat to me and still had a healthy baby.
Awww honey dont stress. I think the only thing your diet is going to do is give you a big bum...lol
Are you on a pregnancy multivitamin? There a god send for the days you dont feel like eating or decide to eat some crap.
sure am on the multi-vitamins & minerals.
Yeh, I dont need a bigger bum...LOL

Things should settle down soon. In the first trimester with both my kids all i could eat was carbs. Pasta, hot chips, crackers and ham and cheese toasted sandwiches.

Well should I say until the MS pretty much stopped and that was about 16/17 weeks with both.
can u eat ham????
I've been craving ham but wasnt sure if u can eat. I get so confused on what is safe to eat.
thanks for the responses, it helps me realise all is ok and normal for me to go thru this bad diet. I shouldnt say diet, I mean bad eating habits. lol

If it's heated in a toasted sandwich, it is fine.

Your diet sounds good compared to my pregnancy diet for my 2 girls. I lived off popcorn with both of them. It was about all i could stomach and didn't have much taste when it came back up again:laughing::barf:. Bub takes what it needs anyway and hopefully things settle for you soon.
I can totally relate - I spent a lot of time when pregnant with DS worrying that my diet was rubbish. Looking back, I wish I could tell myself to just chill - eat what feels right and don't beat yourself up about it. DS was perfect in every way even though I spent weeks just eating vegemite on toast and weet-bix!

I was the same in that I ate fairly healthily pre-pregnancy but morning sickness made it impossible
My favourite food for lunch sushi was off limits for a start
And just the smell of vegetables made me :barf:
I had so much difficulty keeping anything down when I did find a couple of things, ice cream and cheese twisties, that I could keep down that's all I ate
Problem was when the morning sickness subsided I didn't change my bad eating habits
I did put on alot of extra weight 20+ kilos after baby
Try and keep the crisps out of your diet and make an effort to switch back to healthy eating once you're over the worst of the morning sickness
I wish someone had got on my back about eating so badly instead of saying "Oh that's ok you're eating for two"

It was a real comfort to read this, as I have really been struggling with my diet too. I am only 7 weeks with my first child and have read all about the healthy foods i should be eating...meanwhile all I can seem to eat is crumpets, crackers and hot junk food!
I am taking Elevit, but does anyone know what the best time of the day to take it is? I have been having it at night before bed with a glass of milk which I have to force down!
FirstTimeForMe - I'm taking Elevit after my morning breakfast with oj.
My OB told me on Wednesday that I had gained 1 1/2 kilos & that I should be counting calories. Well 1stly, your a MAN & until you can get pregnant or have a baby....&^%^%$ off, well that is what I said in my head to myself.
During my ms which is still going on at 16 weeks. On ny's day I threw up :barf:in front of my mother at 4pm but spent the day earlier feeling sick...then the day after I threw up at 10pm:barf:. My sickness is ALL over the place.
Back to my diet, I'm now trying to do what MumNeedsCoffee said.....while I feel ok parts of the day thats when I will try & eat better. I'm now craving peatnut butter with vanilla icecream....oh with crisps...yummm......
16 weeks pregnant & still have morning, afternoon & night sickness....when will it ever STOP!!!!! I'm so over it..LOL..
Awww honey dont stress. I think the only thing your diet is going to do is give you a big bum...lol

:iagree:
My m/s diet consisted of alot of the same things as you,
When m/s went away at around 10 weeks all I was left with was fat thighs.
I used medicine to stop me feeling sick and it was the best thing,
I wouldnt worry to much about eating some crap food for a few months, its better than throwing up healthy food.
