Ok af still hasn't shown but I do not believe I am pg so now I am just waiting
for af to show. I am considering taking clomid for my next cycle but I am nervous
about the possible side effects. Could you who have taken it please tell me
your stories and success rate and the side effects you had. I would really
appreciate the info. Thanks.

Hi. I am curious why you want to take clomid if you are having a cycle - clomid is normally prescribed for those of us who don't have cycles as it makes you ovulate. That being said, if it is something you want to do, the side effects I experienced included mood swings, and hot flushes. There is also a significant risk of twins. I also found it very stressful counting days - the days for taking the tablet, the days for blood tests, the days that my period was due. When all the advice is to relax and not think about it, it becomes impossible to not think about it!!

I was just giving it a thought if af did not come back normal again which I was
affraid of but she just showed so I probably will not be doing it. My doc just
gave me that option if I wanted bc we have been trying for awhile with no success but he said it would be better to give it another 6 months before getting
to worried. I knew about the risk of twins and that is a ok with me. I would love
it. The only risk I was worried about was a miscarrage.

I hope that things work out for you without clomid - far less stressful! If you do need to go on it though there are a multitude of success stories out here - my DD1 for a start! (DD2 was a weaning accident - yay!!!)
Good luck!

Hi Ellymay!

As I posted in our TTC thread, I conceived Ryan on clomid (I have PCOS) and I had no side effects.... While the risk of mutiple babies is a risk it isn't as high as everyone seems to think it is....

When taking clomid you have to take from on certain days in your cycle and BD on certain days.... If you are seriously considering it I would have a good chat to your doctor about it!

Good Luck matie!

I talked to him about it a little actually he was the one that suggested it if
I wanted to take it. He told me that for my situation and I don't know what
exactly that means I have a 1 in 10 chance of twins even though most people
it is only 1 in 100. I think I am just going to wait. I am not so worried about
it now that af is back. If for some reason I am still TTC in dec. then yes i will
probably go ahead and take it which is what my doc said I should do. He
said that he thinks I will be pg with in 6 more months. I guess he'd know me
better than me or anyone else huh... LOL.

Hi!
I have tried clomid and from what I understand even if you are having a cycle it doesn't mean you are ovulating. Clomid contains FSH that ensures a follicle develops and therefore ovulation. (Hopefully this helps explain risk of multiple births!) For this purpose if you are attending a clinic in the days leading up to ovulation (determined by blood tests for hormone levels) they may permorm an internal ultrasound to see how many follicles have actually formed.... very interesting to see how it all works!
Good luck with the clomid - my first round I felt menopausal, breaking out in sweats and a bit dizzy etc but consecutive treatments were not so bad. For me no side effects were bad enough to put me off trying it again. Be brave and good luck!!

Thats what I thought too Trish. That you can still have a cycle but not ovulate. I also understand it to be that your periods will be irregular though and sometimes very very heavy.
