Do you think the federal government should take over from the state governments and have full responsibility of the health system???

Nothing (well, lots of things) but I just think that if the federal government had the responsibility of health then there would be no more blaming and passing the buck

The federal government, IMO, should be responsible. Clearly, leaving it up to individual states isn't working, and I do think there should be no difference in healthcare between states. Wherever you live in Australia, you should recieve the same care.

I agree, and chose yes it should. However, we then risk whoever is in charge privatising it like they have everything else, particularly with a liberal government.

I don't really know that it would make any difference. Perhaps they should take the reigns but let me first ask: What would the federal government do differently? Are they GOING to FIX it? Or just keep talking about fixing it for several more years. It's hard to tell.

Our fabulous public system we USED to have not so long ago, crumbled because GP's wanted a full $50 govt subsidy per 15 minute consultation but the government was only willing to subsidise them $35 per 15 minutes- not enough for money hungry Drs, & so the majority of GP's have rejected bulk billing and charge the patient whatever they like.

And this in turn has clogged the entire public system as people seek help for the common cold within public emergency rooms whilst others lay there needing more urgent care.
The government, regardless of whether it's state or federal will still be faced with finding a solution to the same old problem.
They could build some new hospitals to unclog the system or pay the Drs what they want. Or a combination of both. But WILL they?
