The november girls have a thread like this... so i thought i'd add one for October mummies too

Well... i am 26 weeks pregnant, and i have put on 5 kgs. I started at 54kg, and now i am 59kg, but getting close to the 60kg mark now!

At 20 weeks i had put on 2 kgs...

At 22 weeks i had put on 3 kgs...

At 24 weeks i had put on 4 kgs...

Now, at 26 weeks i have put on 5kg...

Mine is going in a pattern... 1kg for every 2 weeks! Though it really feels more like 10kgs a week

I started at 63.5 kg and am currently 29 weeks and have put on 6.0 kg to put me at 69.5 kg. I think my butt has gotten smaller but maybe it just seems that way because my stomach sticks out so far :D .

Took me a while to get started but now my weight seems to be shooting up. Geez...only 11 weeks to go - how much more could I possibly put on?!

I'm guessing I will have around 5 kg to lose afterwards  but have already had a program drawn up at the gym (a friend owns the place). Surprisingly, I'm really looking forward to being able to run and do weights again. I feel like I have lost a lot of muscle tone.

Ummm,,, I didn't really document my weight gain (not a fun thing to do!!) but at around 25 wks I had gained 7kgs. My pre-pregnancy weight was 63kgs.

Now, at 30 wks I have gained 10kgs!!
I really think that it is mosly baby though, because I dont look like I have gained very much in the face, arms etc - maybe a little around the bum area!! I have been doing much more activity than before - I swim 3-4 times a week and do aqua-aerobics. I wonder what weight I will get up to!!!

Okay well i can't be sure cause ever since i have weighed myself over here in Qld, my friends scales are different to my ob's at home.

I started out at 58kg ( I think) and am now 68 - 69kg at almost 30weeks.I have gotten a bigger bum, boobs and thighs and the stomach of course.

So i seem to have gained about 10kgs so far:(

I have absolutely no idea, and am happy to be oblivious about it. I think I'd be in shock if I knew - my thighs and hips have gotten bigger, much to my disgust! I love my belly though (I won't when it goes all soft and flabby  ) As for my boobs - they used to be my pride and joy, but look like they'll never be the same again :crying:

I've never been one for weighing myself - I just go by the clothes I fit into (which isn't too helpful during pregnancy)

I dont feel so bad now, at least a couple of others have put on around 10kg, I havent really been weighing myself (mainly on purpose because i hate the thought of weight gain) but started at 62kg, and about 71kg now at 28 weeks, most of which i think is in my boobs, i am sure they would be about 3kg each (since going from a DD to an F cup).
Yeah for plastic surgery, i hope to get a reduction when i finish having our family!!

I started at about 70kg and am now about 80kg.

I'm totally happy with that though - this time last pregnancy I'd gained about 15kgs and went on to get to a whopping 22kg gain!!!!!:D (Mind you, loved every minute of it...and lost it very quickly!)

I am hoping to only gain a few more kilos over the coming weeks and although I can't walk long distances without back and pelvic pain, I am doing a lot of incidental exercise to keep the metabolism up!

I started at 90 and am 96 now, so 6kg in 30 weeks. I actually started out losing weight, so I'm pretty sure its mostly baby.

A colleague used to work at a family planning centre and says scales weren't always the best way to measure, and prefers to measure the upper arm and thigh (since they dont get bloated) when looking for extra mummy-fat.

Lol well i cant hide how much i've put on.... every appointment i go to i bring my little yellow ob card and the doctors fill out all the details... how many weeks i am, weight gain, position of baby, measurements of tummy etc etc etc....

At my last appointment (27wks) I was up to 58.9kgs from 54kgs. So Ive put on 5kgs or so. Im sure I will hit the 10kg mark very very soon. My pre pregnancy weight was 57kgs but I lost 3kgs from m/s in the first 23wks.

I'm with SamanthaJane. Each OB visit I jump on the scales, so although it hasn't been very regular I do have an update on the KGs being put on.
At my last weigh-in at 26 weeks, I had put on a total of 5kg (2 in the last month). I swear there is 1kg in baby weight, 1kg in increased blood volume etc and 1.5kg in EACH boob! I have gone up to a 14-'H'umungous in the bra size so I'm sure thats where nearly ALL the weight has gone. It will be interesting to see what the next 4 weeks brings.

I have always been a solid person so I was prepared to be completely uncaring about weight gain... but I was 118 before getting pregnant, then dropped to 113 in the first 8 weeks (nausea will do that for you!) I'm now 116... so still lighter than pre-pregnancy! Weird how much my body is complaining considering it's carrying a lighter load than it has for years!:p

30 weeks today and I've put on 8kg, my doc says she's 'very pleased' with my weight gain, whatever that means! Fundus was measuring 34cm today  so it looks like bub is either big or maybe just has a lot of fluid to float around in, so I think (hope) the 8kg is mostly baby and boobs!

I really hope I don't gain too much more weight in the next 10 weeks, not for vanity's sake but because I'm starting to feel really bloated and awkward...have been a bit unwell and have no appetite at all at the moment so maybe it won't be too hard to keep it under control! :fingerscrossed:

with my 3 DD's I only ever put on a couple of kilos and usually in the last 4 weeks. With my first I didn't even get any stretch marks until I hit 40 weeks and those last 2 weeks (born at 42weeks) i put on about 4kgs and got the stretchmarks!!.
This time I have put on about 8kgs already, but the strange thing for me is that my old maternity clothes are too big and I have had to go and downsize (strange I know).

Starting weight - 69kgs

8wks - 68kg
12wks - 68kgs
16wks - 68.5kgs
20 wks - 71kgs

I gained 19kgs with my other ds and am hoping that i keep it around 14-15 this time....but we'll see. lol I gained alot in the last 2 months last time and it was hell to get off again:banghead:

hi girls

my starting weight was 64kgs. Today we went to the OB (I am 30 weeks) and my weight is 71.4kg. But, my arms are the same, and my legs and bum are skinnier, so its definetely all on my belly. I am not very tall so the OB is happy with my gain. My fundal measurement is spot on for 30 weeks- 30cm.

10 weeks to go!!!

Hi All

I started at approx 58 kgs and I am currently sitting at about 66kg - way heavier than I have ever been in my life and hitting the 8kg mark. I am 27 weeks - I am hoping to keep within 14kg but will see how it all goes!

I think most of it is belly but I have put on a bit around my hips and butt. Legs, arms and face appear to be about the same though and boobs have only gone up one size so far so not a huge change.

I did put on a bit when others were losing in the first 13 weeks though I think because I wasn't feeling well and pretty much stopped all exercise which I normally do a bit of.

I am guessing there will be a bit of extra weight after the bubs is born but hope I can get rid of a bit fairly quickly - if I cope OK will be exercising as soon as I can!

I started out at 62.8kg, then went down to 60kg in the first 12 weeks. At 30 weeks I am sitting at 67.7kg so I guess if you count the weight that I lost I am sitting at 7.7kg's all up.

I am hoping to stay around the 12kg gain but either way I am planning on working my butt off to get back into shape after baby is born.

Hello everyone

Is it odd that i have never been weighed at any appointments so far??
I only know what i weighed at 12 weeks coz of a medical thingy at work. Other then that no one has even talked to me about weight gain or how much i weigh.
I feel like a heffer but all clothes fit everywhere ( except belly of course).
Dont own scales and never will!!!!

Well i am sure they would tell me if they thought i was out of control right?
Anyway whats the normal weight gain ???

My dr doesn't weigh me either. I have scales at home because i am a weight loss nazi. lol
At my last drs appointment (24wks) however i jumped on his scales just to see and i told him that i had gained 5.5kgs he said that was ok and then i asked him what is a good amount to gain all up and he said 14kgs.

Claire R

I started porking up straight away and was worried as no-one else seemed to be gaining early. My ob never ever weighed me or asked about weight. I just keep track becuas eI'm a control freak and also I can't exercise hardly at all (chronic lack of hip lining) so I don't have much option for weight loss/control other than try not to eat too much.

However, by now (29 weeks) I've put on 10.5kg so that seems to be OK compared to others by this stage. I started at 58.5kg. I've definitely got an extra layer of fat from neck to knee - at least my wrists and ankles are still somewhat familiar!!!

Like a few others I suspect my boobs are a lot of the weight. I had to go buy new bras a week after I missed my period which set the alarm bells ringing. Now have gone from a 10E to a 14G and still going - it is really uncomfy and makes me look fatter rather than preggers. Why Why Why!! Someone gave us one of those cute figurines you get in the chemist that are carved from wood and it is a pregnant women holding her belly - well I notice she has one bump whereas I have 3!!

I've hit the 10kg mark now, at 34 weeks. Not too bad, my doc says it's great, although I was hoping only to gain 10kg all up, so hopefully I won't gain more than another 3-4kg in the next 6 weeks or so :fingerscrossed:

11kgs now at 35wks  I am pretty happy with that, but was only hoping to gain 10-12kgs over the whole pregnancy... (I was at the top of my healthy weight range before I fell pregnant). Just started to get a couple of stretchies on my lower belly too :( Oh well, they are there from my baby! I do have a new found respect for my body now!

Well, I'm at 8.5 kg and am 34 weeks on Saturday. I'm pretty happy with that. I've had a massive appetite these last couple of weeks and ate a 200g bag of cheese & bacon balls yesterday, a small bowl of low-fat ice-cream smothered in ice magic and 2 nestle diet chocolate mousse  That was on top of a bowl of pasta for tea!

Ah, well - only abour 6 weeks to go, so I may as well enjoy the binge fest while I can blame the weight gain on bubby :D

My tummy is feeling annoyingly itchy even though I am using cocoa butter, so I am expecting some stretchmarks any day now. My butt is definitely gonna need a whole lot of work as well....:crying:

I've gained 10.5kgs now at 32 weeks. At the same stage in my last pregnancy i'd gained 13.5 so i'm happy to be a bit lower this time! I wanted to only gain about 14-15 this time. My dr said 14 was a good weight.....so i'm going to be more stricter on my food. I've been eating horribly and it shows on my bum, yuck! Nice healthy stuff from now on....with only a little bit of good unheatlhy stuff. lol:D

I found out when I went to the hospital last week (and they weighed me) that I have put on 17kgs! :crying:

But I have been eating very normally (possibly even too little), and my OB says most of mine is swelling and fluid (it had bloody better be!). I don't feel like I've put on that much (I actually guessed it'd be under the 10kg mark).

Anyway, I have probably lost a bit this week, with all the diarrhoea (so there's a positive to come out of all my pain and suffering!)

My bum had definatly gotten bigger. I am 10kgs lighter this time around than when I was 34 weeks pregnant with my last DD. I am looking forward to getting back onto my W/W to get my weight down. I am still following the W/W diet at the moment but adding extra calories in for bubs but I cant exercise because I am too fat (lol, wot a pathetic excuse) but no seriously it is painful and I would rather gain a few 2 many kgs than try and kill myself by exercising.
(Also just realised how much I love my little man in my belly :D )

It really has been the last few weeks of my pregnancy where I’ve found myself putting on the most weight, It makes perfect sense to me, it’s when the baby does the most growing so i'm not even going to get upset about my weight gain right now.
I haven't gained more then 10 kilos, I’ve lost weight in my bum and legs, but my boobs are huge and they're only going to get bigger when i start breastfeeding.

One of the gifts i received at my baby shower was a subscription to a parenting magazine, and one of the articles was discussing about how so many women try so hard at trying to get back to their pre-pregnancy weight straight after the birth/recovery period. And it talks about how this is dangerous, for not only you, but the baby also. They said you should allow at least 9 months after the birth (the amount of time i took for you to gain all of your pregnancy weight) To work it off, because it's the healthier for you and the baby. This really does make a lot of sense!
We have to remember that within that whole 9 months the baby was taking a lot out of us. I suppose the right amount of exercise each day is acceptable but you can't just go on a no fat, no sugar, no carbs diet! while you're breastfeeding, You need just as much nutrients for the baby while you're breastfeeding and then more for you to make up for what was taken from you as the pregnancy progressed.

Awh Sam:hugs:
You said you started out in the 50kg's mark didn't you?
I wouldn't get to worked up over it hey, I remember stressing about the weight gain but always being told that because i'm young, my body will retain its normal elasticity and i can bounce back just as easy as if i wasn't pregnant and working out.
I think we’ll all be surprised when we hop on the scales after our little ones are born where we can then differentiate between what was baby weight/fluid weight and what was not. And plus, even straight after the birth, whatever weight the baby was, you’ve lost that straight away right? Plus the amniotic fluid/placenta all those extras.
And breastfeeding hasn’t even been able to take its turn yet!:p
I think you’ll be fine Sam!

I've just passed the 36 week mark and think I've put on about 10 kg. I think it will finish at about 12 because I can't seem to stop eating ice cream and roast dinners (thanks to my MIL)! :D

I was reading "What to Expect" at 3:30 this morning and it says you will probably lose about 7 kg by the 6 week mark, including the actual baby weight etc. So, that's not so bad! Although I plan to stick to a healthy diet, all I will do is eliminate all the junk food and substitute fruit for chocolate etc. That, combined with walking will see the rest off in a few months. Shame you can't just walk out the way you started.

brideofjabba
09-09-2006, 10:33 PM
Jeffy - with my ds i was 7kgs lighter when i left the hospital! ds was just over 4kgs so that makes sense. lol 3 kgs for the placenta and water and blood etc.
I didn't do anything to lose the rest of the weight and 6 mths afterwards i had only dropped 5kgs(without diet or exercise). It took another 6mths to get the 7kgs that i had left off. I wish i had of started trying to lose it earlier. This time i'm giving myself 8 weeks to recover then get back into it gently.
Ashleigh - i've heard that too that you should take 9 mths to get it off since it took 9mths to put it on.

I have gained bout 12kgs at 34 weeks, which I am a bit disappointed about. 38 weeks + 1 day and I'm up to 12 kg. I was hoping to stick to 10kg but the junk food I have been eating was sooo worth it :D I have become addicted to Frosty Fruits, chocolate mousse, anzac biscuits, McDonalds and cheese.

I am convinced I will go 10 days over and have to be induced and as I am usually so particular about my diet, I'm going to make the most of these last couple of weeks and eat whatever the hell I want. :o

Well, I was 64kgs when I fell pregnant and have at 37.5 weeks pregnant just hit the dreaded 20kgs weight gain mark!!!
I'm not concerned though as everyone says I look great and doesn't believe that I've put on that much as its gone mostly on the boobs and belly.
I don't know why women worry so much about how much weight we put on......I plan to be a really active mummy as much as the bub makes possible and am confident that I'll be back in shape within 6 months.
The most annoying thing has been the growth in my boobs....I was already a 12D when I fell pregnant.....anyone else out there that has D cups or larger knows how hard it is to buy decent bras without blowing the budget and ever tried to buy a bikini from a surf shop??? Impossible!!! now I'm a 14DD so expecting E cups when the milk comes in  At least after I have the baby having big boobs will take the attention off the post baby flab on my belly!! lol;)
