Mods pls move this if it's in the wrong section - I didn't really know where to put it...

So my sister is having a mid life career crisis and she is not really sure what to do... hoping you guys can offer some feedback

She is a qualified nurse and midwife and likes her job but not 'the system'. She is also thinking that when she is a mum and not able to work full time she will need another income stream...

She is also very healthy and into fitness...

She has been thinking that she may become a personal trainer, specialising in pregnant women (from TTC, antenatal, birth and post natal).

She thought she could also do a constinancy (sp) course and learn all the special excercises and physical details to work with women to train them to strengthen bladders etc.

Do you think there would be a market for this?

The course is quite expensive and she is not sure if there is a big enough market - altho she is in metro melb.

She would work from home and go to clients houses as needed?

What do you think? And how much would you be prepared to pay for her services? And what services would you want?

Thanks

Hi there,

I am a PT and there is always plenty of work for those who want it.

I would say she would be best to market herself as a PT that covers a whole range of clients but mention that she has a special interest in pre and post natal women.

I used to charge $35 for half an hour - so $70 an hour.

YES! I think this is a GREAT idea and would sign myself up if she were in metro Sydney. I was obese (still am) when I fell pregnant and I had NO Idea what I should be doing/not doing with exercise so I just did NOTHING which did not work in my favour.

Good luck to her. I say go for it!

Yeh I was just talking to her and she was saying she prob going to do it mid next yr. She also wants to do special excercises to help strengthen 'your bits' and prepare for labour - I thought that was a good idea.

I myself am obese adn she is working with me to hlep me get into shape becos I couldn't find much info when I was pregnant - everyone said not to do anything becos I was already fat but I don't see how that helps.

My sister has taken up personal training sydney and she is getting a lot of business. She has started a gym of her own mainly for for women. She gets a lot of pregnant women in her gym.
