Has anyone heard about the 3 month old twins killed in nz, I only found out about it from my mum in nz an hour ago.

Well apparently the mother left the little ones with a couple of 10 or 12 yr old for a week. Post mortem found bruises and broken bones....................still under investigation...............

I mean how can someone do that and here we are worrying about dogs..........not that thats not an issue....................but how can a human being leave their children especially just newborn with kids.................................and obviously it looks like as the kids would have killed bubbies..................

I am just speechless..............................dunno wat to think of this situation.

This is absolutely awful! What makes it worse was that they survived being born prematurely only to have this happen to them! The people who did this deserve to be shot! Here is a link if anyone doesn't know the story

I heard about it awhile ago from my parents in NZ. I cant believe how cruel some people are. There are millions of people out there who would've taken them babies in and given them the happy, loving upbringing that everyone deserves. Apparently the family are like 'Once Were Warriors' type. Being bought up in a small town in NZ i know that there are many others like this story. They dont deserve to have children or any life for that matter. Im disgusted!!

I get so mad and upset when I hear things like this especially when so many people out there are TTC or can't have children of their own and they would love to give a warm, loving and secure home to a child. For goodness sake if they can't provide that environment to a child they really should consider adopting them out or something.... those poor poor twins :crying:

I just can't believe that people could hurt little defenceless babies. I have a 9mth old and if anyone hurt him god help them by the time i'm finished with them. To imagine what those poor little kids would have gone through and for the parents not cooperate to help with the investigation makes me wonder what they have to hide and if they had any involvement at all?????

:crying: those poor babies. i can only imagine the pain they went through.
not co-operating with police would only create theroies of the parents possible involvment ,well thats what i think.
if someone hurt my DS  they better have their running shoes on  coz i would hunt them down.

:crying: I know just how you feel... Makes me want to hold DD forever and not let her out into the world.

Did you see the story on the news last night about the convicted child sex offender that got a job as a store Santa in NSW last year?

It's being paranoid, I know, but somedays it feels like our children are not safe anywhere anymore.

I can't believe that a mother would leave her 2 babies in someone elses care. I'm just speechless!!! Those poor little darlings didn't deserve the treatment that was dished out to them during their short little lives. I hope they are resting in peace now. :crying:

If anyone hurts my boys, god help them, because they won't be breathing by the time I have finished with them.

It happened at home while the parents and other friends and family (about 20 of them) were all boozing up. The parents had to of had some part of it, it wasnt the first time the bubs had been abused.

OMG.......that is so tragic.

What on earth are people thinking when they do these things??? Why don't they pick on someone there own age, those poor babies had no chance of survival.
The people/ person who did this should never EVER walk free again.....i hope they get what they deserve the ********.

Hmm Ive been following this story since it broke and I havent heard a mention of the babys being left with a 12 year old. As far as the news coverage (both paper and televised) they were in the care of their 21 year old father who was in the middle of a party as the time.
The whole entire scenario makes me sick. Even though the babys were 3 months old they were only in the care of their family for 5 weeks. CYPS were informed while the babys were in hospital about the staffs concerns regarding the familys disinterest in the twins development.
Another thing that makes me sick is the family are hiding behind being maori...my race. That makes me angry as well. The media also made this a maori issue as a result. This has nothing to do with race but everything to do with social economic class and lack of responsibility.
Anyway there was an interview on TV last night in NZ and the sisters have revealed a name, the person who did it...they expect to arrest the person this week sometime.....Lock them up and throw away the key!!!

He tino Pouri me te pepi korua! Arohanui....

Yes NZMama,I too have been following the story, especially while I was in nz a few weeks ago.
It is very very sad.
Apparantly their lifestyle was compared to that of "once were warriors"
Im not sure if this was just the assumption because they are maori.
Anyway,it is horrible these poor lil angels suffered like that.
RIP lil ones.

I feel for the babys...but yes the once were warriors situation (not necessarily race driven but the lifestyle in gereral) would probably be fitting.
Ive met a couple of australians where I have been the first maori they have met and they had (until meeting me) based all their opinion of maori on that movie....I have a million things to say about that but thats another thread. Used to being judged as a result of my race...people like this dont help.

For anyone who thinks they can stomach it, here is the link to the latest development on the case: http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/488120/794607

NZ mama, the 12 year old thing came for a story a few days after the funeral, aparently not the day that they went into hospital but maybe the day before they 2 babies had been left in the care of teeages, there was talk of the teenages tossing the babies to each other and stuff, and that was how some of the injuries were caused, non of that has been confirmed though cause as you know the family arn't actually saying much, I watched one of the tv one programs a couple of weeks ago, they had one of the auntie's on it, I couldn't believe that words comming out of her mouth, she never once answered a questiond put to her and she kept saying that the family will deal with it, I know that most maori families like to keep there issues within the familys but this is beyond a joke, i'll see if i can find the links.

Ah okay, I read the NZ Herald daily and watch the current affairs programmes and I never saw anything about that at all......interesting take on it....
It is a adult family member that has been accused by the aunts. Although the family are no longer being quiet. As of tonight the fathers mother was on TV and another family member of the so called tight 12 was on talkback today........
Its all becoming a he-said she-said merry-go-round....
Someone needs to step up and take responsibility and stop the smoke screen...

Such a tragic...................My mum actually lives in Nz and she told me about the 12yr old thing .............she saw it in the news there............also if you have Foxtel, Austar or cable tv ................watch prime news Nz on Sky.

Since i heard that I haven't stopped hugging and kissing my two angels............... It is such a gift to be impregnated with twins and to think there are people spending so much money trying to get pregnant and even adopting......... some would have been able to take the precious gifts ...................

Yes it is definitely such a sad thing - watching the Sunday report brought tears to my eyes seeing those beautiful babys and to think what they went through.
The reason I have been following it is because I was in NZ visiting my whanau when the news first broke and after following it for 2 weeks back there and seeing the family stonewalling the investigation made me angry so Ive been following it intensely while back here. I didnt watch the news report last night my cousin who lives in Whangarei was relaying the main points back to me while it was on.....lol gotta love the net....it sounds like they are doing it again.
How could they, if anyone needed protecting it was those babies.

Unfortunately it is not the first and will not be the last....:(

poor little guys, so cute and innocent:crying: , it really ripped at me.

its so sad to think that people would cover this up, and that the mother herself isnt driven to getting the person who killed her babies charged, anyone else think it was the dad?, why else would a women keep her mouth closed

The fathers mother (twins grandmother) has come forward and thrown out there that she suspects it is actually a female although the sisters said Macsyne (twins mother) identified a male.
So now it is too-ing and fro-ing....more smokescreen. I have to admit I agree with what the sisters are saying 'why did it take us to come forward before anyone else started talking' and 'the grandmother was in hospital at the time it all happened and was not at the meeting therefore how could she know?'
Apparently there is little forensic evidence so the police are staying right out of the he-said she-said that is going on and the only solution now is that the guilty party steps forward on their own.
Who has faith in that happening? Not me :(

That sux, that it took one person to come out with it before others did, I hope the guy frounts up to the police, looks like thats the only way to get him, its a sad sad story, the one thing i'm kinda glad about (still very sad though) is that their other baby brother didn't suffer at the hands of anyone, was lucky to die at birth (if you know what i mean), the mother has had 7 kids and there is only 4 left and none of them live with her, I hope she never has anymore

NZMama
27-07-2006, 08:56
Yeh it does. What kind of family lets this happen? Hides the person....its sickening but they are blatantly doing it. The mother has a history of leaving the kids she has with the fathers and then moving on. Her other kids havent seen her for years.
What I dislike about these situations is that there are people out there who genuinely want and will love a baby unconditionally but having a baby is near impossible for them yet it comes to easily to people who dont value it. So sad!

It is sad, all these prople that try so hard to have kids and that would make wonderful parents just can't have kids, and then there are the ones that definatly don't deserve kids and they are having them left right and centre.

That mother will most probably go on to have more kids and they will be taken off her too, its just not fair on them

This makes me wonder..................... if the mother did have a history like that............... shouldn't the hospital staffs noticed that and done something about it................. I mean in the papers they did say that the family didn't show much interest in the babies ......................... shouldn't they have involved the social securities b4 they sent the babies home....................... whats dodne is done but things like this should be considered.....................

Exactly CYPS should have been notified. But then whose to say that they hadnt and just didnt do anything about it??
CYPS are understaffed and the number of children in danger outnumbers the staff available. There is also an issue with human error when it comes to prioritising the cases.
This has been a issue in NZ for a while now (years) and anyone who denys that there is a problem in NZ has their eyes closed.
The Kahui twins are another example of horrendous child abuse in NZ, other names that are forever burnt into my mind are Delcelia and not to mention James Whakaruru to name a couple and yes they are polynesian in decent. Not to say it dosnt happen in other races....such as Coral Burrow....this is really sad!
These poor kiddies who didnt ask to be here, who trusted the people that they should be able to trust and yet got burned soo badly by this trust.
I hear about beaten wives and I believe this is no excuse to let people kill your child....Delcelia's mother knows that as she is in prison (as is her partner) for killing that beautiful little girl....and personally so she should be.
Unfortunately the Kahui twins are now being treated as old news and another statistic as the media has moved on to other things now. Here is hoping that the police are still nutting away at that pathetic excuse for a family in order to put things right.

I can't read any more articles like this again. I know that this stuff exists- I used to be a protective services officer- so I'm not saying that out of cold-heartedness; but instead because it does break my heart. I will be praying for those twins.

NZMama

NZ will always be my home and where my heart is (Hey my entire family are back there so it makes sense) thats why I go back every 6 months :p Trust me this is not the norm back there and hope that this dosnt then paint NZ as being full of child abusers. This most certainly does not exist in my family and considering my parents both come from 7 children familys (my grandfather has 17 brothers and sisters) we should account for a reasonable part of the non-child abuser population at least.

I know what you mean pookie, it just sickens me to see pictures of these beautiful children and its really unfair that they have been treated so badly. In my books one time is one time too many.

Thats horrible. If people dont want their children, they should give them up. Dont know what they were doing out of the parents care at that age!
