If I came off the medication and later you gave me medication to help me get pregnant, would it be as successful, or should I stay on the metformin medication and things would get better for me?

Hi Michelle, sorry my reply is so late, I just saw your post;
my specialist recommends staying on Metformin for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy to reduce the risk of miscarriage and gestational diabetes. So I would stay on it until recommended to stop by your doc.
Any more questions I will try to keep an eye out, or feel free to PM me :)

I have severe PCOS and have never taken drugs for it. I conceived my son after trying for 2 years. I'm now trying for a second bub and still not taking any drugs. Lifestyle issues are enough for most women to manage their PCOS. Learning to chart from a Billings teacher will maximise your chances of achieving a pregnancy whether you take the met or not. I've had lots of natural therapies to balance my hormones and allow my body to do what it should do best - make babies! :D I'm happy to chat to you about it and I recommend a wonderful book called "Women's Troubles:natural and medical solutions" by Ruth Trickey who is an Australian PCOS expert - she helped me conceive my son! It will give you lots of selfhelp and selfcare info whatever you decide to do. Bear in mind that met and diabex only work for a few years and that lifestyle changes work forever. Hugs to you, working with fertility issues is hard work!
