My DD goes once a week, I really like it, she loved it at first but is now suffering seperation anxiety... but that has nothing to do with the quality of care.

My ds has been in FDC since February with a lovely lady who lives around the corner. They go to the park, for coffee, shopping, to friends etc etc like he would if he was with me (probably more :o ). My mum also did FDC when I was growing up so she could spend time with us.

The best advice I can give is make sure you are comfortable with the carer. Also have a good relationship with them, after all they are looking after your child.

I give it

We go to Family Day Care twice a week, we have only just started doing it in the last 2 weeks, so he is still adjusting... The lady he goes to is fantastic, she looks after 3 or 4 other little ones around his age. She is even happy to carry DS around in a sling (he is going through seperation anxiety so is very clingy) until he adjusts to it - and at 16mths he ain't light, she has also allowed me to bring him in to visit through the week for an hour or so with me present to help him get used to it!! They go on trips to the shops, post office etc.... And its a real family environment so its as if he was visiting is aunt or nan for the day... Im sure that wants he adjusts to the place he will love it!!
As was mentioned above, make sure you feel comfortable with the carer, ask if you can sit in for a while to see how she interacts with them, and ask her how flexible they are whilst your little one is settling in!!

We used to use it and were very happy - the carer for DD1 was like a third grandmother and we stay in touch with her now. She only had two children at a time and the other was her grandson who was the same age as DD1 - it was great. At the time we were paying about $4.10 an hour.

There is a FDC council based in Brisbane - look them up in the white pages (or on the bubhub directory:thumbsup: ) and give them a call - they are very helpful and will tell you which group covers your area so that you can call them and obtain even more info.
