I have bought some toys second hand. Most of them are surface washable only. What is the best way to disinfect them? So they're clean enough for my DD to chew on :)

Ive bought some too. I have actually put them in a pillow case and into the wash, provided them have no electrical bits to them. If your worried you could try a delicate wash.
What about Glen 20 suppose to be a surface disinfectant...

How about surface cleaning them and then putting them in the sun to kill any nasties??

Hot Hot soapy water is the best way. When the kids are older you can wipe the toys down with pine-o-clean or something like that. If it is sunny out side let them dry in the sun other wise just dry them on your kitchen bench.

or give them a wipe down with pine o clean wipes and then stick them in ur freezer for 12 hrs if they aren't electrical. this has been shown to kill all the nasties =)

With soft toys I have always placed them into a wash bag and then into the washing machine on a delicate wash, I have then put them either on the washing line or on a flat surface to dry.

In regards to electric toys/battery operated toys I have a bucket/bowl of disinfectant and water and use a cloth to gently wipe over them. I use a tooth brush to get to those hard to clean places and all come up great!!!

I hope that helps.:D

I use those disinfectant wipes (Pine O Clean I think?). Apparently as long as the surface is dry afterwards, the disinfectant won't hurt bub when they put the toy in their mouth. I've been using them since DS started putting things in his mouth and swear by them!

I'd machine wash then soak in a Milton solution,

I think there are some 'germs' that can only be
killed by sterilisation that disinfectant won't remove ?

Hi All,

I always use Milton - the toys you can get fully wet, twice a year I put all into bubs baby pool with water & milton and let them sit for 1/2 an hour or so and then my 4yr & I get face washers and wash the toys all over then we lay them on a tarp in the sun to dry - all the electrical ones I just use the damp cloth and wipe , then sit them too out on the tarp in the sun........

DS absolutely loves it and especially as 'he & mummy' have special time, cause we do it when bubby is asleep!!

Hope this might help!!:ecomcity: :ecomcity:

When you put them in the washing machine, do you use any special laundry detergent?
