Hi
i have been having trouble re-settling my 6months old DS since we went to sleep school when he was 3months...
he never re-settles... so he has only 1 hour sleep.....
the only way to get him back to sleep is to let him cry it out.. which i hate doing...
so any ideas about how to re-settle him?? (1hour sleep really isnt enough)
Thanks

My bub went to tressillian sleep school at 15 weeks and it didn't work (even after constantly resettling at home for 2 weeks following). I gave up and got her up when she was awake - back down again when tired. The sleep schools say "feed play sleep" routine. I tried keeping her up and then fed her at 1pm (when she'd been up for 2 hrs) and straight to sleep after the bottle - I found it alot easier to then resettle after 50 mins because her tummy was full. She eventualy did it herself and has kept this one long sleep. Don't try resettling on every sleep - it will drive you nuts!! Hope this helps.

WHen I went to sleep school, they told me to re-settle only if the sleep was under 1 hour as that would constitute a cat nap.

1 CHN suggested I give a top-up feed just before I put her down to stop her waking because of hunger, (feed, play, feed, sleep),but don't let them fall asleep on the breast::no: or there'll be another sleep association! Although this can be a tiring routine. I don't actually follow this one unless it's about 3 hours since the last feed.

Remember some bubs just don't follow the 'ideal' of long sleeps, as long as bub's getting the total amount. The point of sleeping at least an hour is that they are getting beyond at least one sleep cycle (so are learning to resettle, and therefore will be able to at night).

If my DD sleeps an hour I can't resettle, if she sleeps 40 mins, I can. I think one sleep cycle at 6 months is about 40 mins.

Also, I believe sleep patterns can change at around 6 months, so maybe contact the sleep school again for updated advice.
