Hi everyone! :)
My name is Melissa, and I am currently in my 2nd year of the Bachelor of Midwifery at ACU.
As previously mentioned, a major component of our course is that we are required to undertake 20 "follow through journey's", of women 35 weeks or less. A follow through involves attending appointments, classes or any other acitivies related to your pregnancy even just meeting to have a chat, if you wish - for me to attend the birth in whichever way you want - this can be assisting you as a support person, helping you with ways of managing with your labour or however you'd like and also spending some time after the birth of your baby.
The follow through is as little or as much involvement as you wish. It allows me to gain experience and knowledge on the process of pregnancy and also provides you with added support.
So far, I've had the most amazing experiences with my Follow Throughs and i have been so lucky to have these women allow me to share such a beautiful time in their lives. It has allowed me to develop further my love to support women in their journey!!
