On the main forum page, if you scroll down you'll see a little "Birth Groups" category. You should be able to find Dec 05 mothers in there...

Here is as good as any!!!

Just had to share my exciting news. Blair CRAWLED yesterday!!! Not camo/slug crawl, but up on all fours ..... I'm off across the room type crawling! :yelclap:

As if that wasn't enough excitement for one day, he also sat up on his own for the first time.

Time to finish baby proofing the house now I suppose :o

Funny how the little things can mean so much isn't it? I nearly cried watching him reach all these firsts. He even waited until daddy got home for the crawling (but I had to fill him in about the sitting!).

Hope you're all having a great day. I must be off as I now have to chase the little man round the house!!! :D

Oh dear, Brooke - I get confused by these simple things too :o . I am really not fond of change :crying: .

For those of you who were jealous of Ryans wonderful sleeping tricks - well rest assured I think it's over. I told you it wouldn't last long! We were up for the mid night snack again last night!

Here I am waiting ever so patiently for bubs to crawl - I go downstairs to do some washing chores & pop Ryan in the laundry basket for 2 minutes. I turn around and the little buggar has pulled himself to a stand  & thinking he is really cool. I'm surprised the basket didn't topple over.

Phew, I found it! When I went in to our thread and saw that we were being closed down :( I got all scared and worried that I wouldn't find our little group again :o

Jrmumma - thanks for the food tips - Blake is at Grandma's today (I'm having a day of cleaning) so I'll try tonight when he gets home.

Wow - can't believe we now have little ones who can crawl - time is flying! I think Blake is a long way off from crawling - he hates being on his tummy but is happy to sit and is really good at that now.

As for those of you having sleeping issues - I think Blake is probably the worst! It's all my fault as I know all the CC techniques and I know they work as I did them with DS1 but I am just too tired to suffer through the first few nights with Blake.

During the day I let him cry and just go in every couple of minutes for a pat until he sleeps, but at night I bring him into bed with me  This is what I did with DS1 and he STILL comes into our bed around 2am every morning. So as u can imagine it's pretty squashy with 2 kids in the bed. Most nights I kick DH out and get him to sleep in DS1's room - not very good for the marriage I dont think.

Is anyone else experiencing this extreme tiredness? I just can't seem to catch up enough to be able to spend a couple of night getting Blake back on track.

How weird, I was contemplaying putting it out there to you all that maybe we should take our thread to a more easily accessible place but was a bit too sentimental about it-I love our Dec thread and I just had heart palpitations when I saw Brooke's post about it being closed:eek: ! Ok, so now it has been done for us-but I'm still a bit :crying: . It's almost like our babies have grown too big for it and we have no choice.
*wipes away the tears*:crying:
OK, getting myself together now...now where was I?

i almost died this morning when i discovered our thread had been closed - was hoping you'd all move over to here and that i'd be able to find you!

I am baking the muffins now that i'd been talking about - the recipe is:

2 cups SR flour
Pinch Salt
1 egg(lightly beaten)
200g of flavoured yoghurt
1 1/2 cups chopped fruit
1/2 teaspoon
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup light olive oil

Preheat oven to 180(fan forced) and grease muffin tin

sift dry ingredients into a bowl and make a well - add yoghurt, egg and oil - mix well. mix in fruit and stir well - should be quite lumpy
bake for 25mins.

I'm trying them out on Caydence hopefully this afternoon but now am wondering if they are going to be a bit too lumpy for her - will let you all know.

Anyway got to go - muffins awaiting!

So far it isnt going to well... she has been very unsettled for about 1.5hrs (maybe she doesnt like her room) she normally at night goes to sleep straight away no re settling etc but during the day is a whole nother story! so thats why i am thinking maybe she doesnt like her beautiful bedroom!! well will see how we go she seems to be quite right now.... :fingerscrossed: it will go well... i am so anxious i feel like i cant breathe. Brooke - I know EXACTLY what you are going thru tonight. I decided after my post about sleep issues that tonight was the night where I was going to become "tough mummy" and let Blake do a bit of crying and not pick him up and rock him off like I normally do.

He SCREAMED the house down for a few minutes but then settled. He has woken up twice though and it breaks my heart to just give him a pat and walk out. I feel so mean ......

:(

:hugs: jRS MUM - its so hard letting them cry... you just want to pick them up and say ok we dont have to do this tonight! PP has grizzled a few times (not crying just grizzled) and i have refrained my self from going in cause i know if i do she will end up back in our room( for my sake not hers) but she has resettled herself every time. The poor bubba probably has no idea whats going on.. :crying:

Hey Brooke - well so far so good. He hasn't woken up for at least 1.5 hours now :fingerscrossed: We have a portable cot set up in our room as well as the cot in his room - during the day he sleeps in his room and at night we planned that he would sleep in the portable cot but he always ended up in our bed instead!

I'm going to take down the portable cot tomorrow and put it away ..... and I'm going to make EVERY effort to keep him OUT of our bed and in his own. I just need the will power to resist his sweet little cuddly body!

Just posted this in the general chat - but I'll let you ladies in on the laugh. My DH just called bubhub "ihatemen.com" he thinks I am on here whinging about him - I had to go through some of the threads with him to prove that we are actually talking about our babies (mostly) and then he was upset that he didn't get much of a mention

Gosh!! we've been bumped. I freaked out a little when I saw the closed sign. I thought I must have said something naughty in my last post, but no it was just my usual benign drivel. I completely understand the reasoning and had contemplated the move when we had new people sending out a search party for us recently, but still!!! Such a move is a hard thing to impose upon a group of women feeling sensitive about the speed that time is racing since our babies were born.

My disappointment was allayed and replaced with sheer excitement when I saw your post Brooke

btw forgot to mention i posted a pic of our new sofa bed in the "show us your..." thread! :yelclap:
Don't get me wrong, I was excited to see the sofa but I was mostly excited about the prospect of putting a face to a name of one of my fav BH'ers. Did you post it? I have been trolling the thread ever since, but your not there. Are you teasing us??:detective: This is the same disappointment I felt when you mentioned in a recent post that you saw a pic of Funky on "the other thread".. I'm embarrassed to say I spent hours looking for that one without any luck either. I so look forward to catching up on the Dec thread and seeing how everyone is doing and what you've been up to that it kills me not to know who I'm talking to. I think I have been a social worker for so many years that I find it actual torture to to talk to people without hearing voices or seeing faces and all the non verbal stuff. I though it would be easier if I had some kind of a mental picture. Oh well, now that I have outed myself as some kind of stalker  I will have to make do with imagining you all as looking exactly like your babies, A large group of very short, cute and follically challenged women:laughing:

Yes, i did cave in, he was in bed with me by midnight. He woke up crying and I let DH go and settle him, after listening to about 5 more minutes of crying (which was getting more and more frantic) I knew Blake wanted his mummy, so I went and got him and snuggled up to him. Of course, he instantly went to sleep  he's a boy who knows how to get what he wants!

Reidymac - don't worry, u are not a stalker - I have also wondered what we all looked like - is there a place where we can all go to post a pic of ourselves - I'm not very computer literate so I don't know how to do it!

Jr'smum - at least everyone ended up happy  . I feel really bad sometimes when Ryan is sleeping because I 'hope' he wakes just so I have a good excuse to have a snuggle. I can't resist the sooky, sleepy cuddle :o and they just smell sooooo yummy!

I must admit, although it is good for us at the moment that Ryan is sleeping well, I really miss the times when I 'had' to bring him back to my bed for the few hours in the morning otherwise he & I wouldn't get any more sleep. We don't get to do that much at the moment because after a long sleep stint, Ryan's usually ready to go! I guess there is always a trade off.

I know what you mean, Tracey. You finally get some proper sleep going and when you and bub finally wake up, they just want to play! No more lazing and smooching in bed.:p We aren't there yet with Hamish but I remember this from my other two. Hamish has been so sick for three days that I have been up to him almost 2 hourly for the last 3 nights. When I picked him up last night (again!) he wasn't burning up anymore so I think the fever has finally broken.:yelclap: Although now he has icky conjunctivitus, so I am madly squirting milk in his eyes.
And to add to it, Ella had all of this plus she spent all day throwing up on Friday!

JR'SMUM-your family is gorgeous! What a beautiful family snap. And I love the one of Blake looking up-those eyes are so lovely!

I hope everyone has a great Sunday-I'm going to try and catch some  .

With my first bub, I wouldn't have any either-I was appalled at how big my belly was! Second time, I got DH to take clothed pics each month and I was so glad to have that record. With this last one, I guess I was a bit over the whole body image thing and when a close friend said she wanted to take pics I said WTH, why not. It was really funny actually, I was 39 weeks and she suggested doing them in the back yard. We had clients here to see their horses, so I had one eye on the camera and one eye watching down the laneway (they couldn't see us) to make sure they weren't coming back up! I'm so glad now that we did them. As much as I look forward to getting my belly looking a bit 'normal' again, I do miss my big boomba-belly!:D

WOW - talk about busy - I come back to an extra 3 pages of posts - and that was just overnight!!!

Well Caydence has come down with a fever - she started burning up late yesterday afternoon, then a few doses of panadol later i thought it'd gone, but alas this afternoon it's back and seems to be worse than yesterday:( Poor little girl - she just doesn't know what's going on.

I was off to the markets this morning to buy fresh fruit and veg - so tonight i'm going to bake a vege slice and freeze it for lunch for the coming week - i've gone cooking mad this weekend!:chef:

Anyway, just thought i'd check in on what was happening.

Hi Jess, it sounds as though Caydence is on a par with Hamish. His fever began at about 10pm Wed night and by Thurs night it seemed to have dissipated but it came back on Friday night-with a vengeance! We have been dosing him with Brauers Cold and Flu drops and it seems to have worked. he has broken the fever again today so :fingerscrossed: he is over the worst. Sounds like you gave it a good go though (PP in her room). You'll know when she is ready.
I am sooo jealous. I adore Hahndorf. One of my fav places to visit. i took my mum, my nana and an 18 month old Tristan in 2000 just because I love the place so much and I knew mum and nana would to. We took 6 days-1 day to drive over, 4 days in Adelaide and 1 day home. I was 7 weeks pregnant with Ella and I was soooo sick by the time we got home-I think I slept for about 4 days!

I'm a mum of a 7 1/2 mth old December baby boy and just wanted to pop in and say hello to you all!
I was also wondering what you are feeding your littlies?...I feel like it's the same thing over and over again and want to try some new things, also have you started to try and give them chunkier foods yet?
I have a 3 1/2 half year old as well but can't seem to remember how I went about the whole solids thing! :o

I can't believe that 7 (nearly 8) mths have gone by so quickly! Where does the time go?

Welcome 2boysmummy! I know what you mean about the food. i've had two before and I'm still having trouble remembering it all!
I thnk mainly I have stuck with pureed and/or mashed veges and fruit for now. I have started mixing a few together though. I baked pears with raisins yesterday which DS thought was pretty good and I made a vege and oats mix which I pureed. It was a bit runny though, so I am using it as an added extra to sweet potato and pumpkin. I also tried a bit of natural yoghurt which seemed to go down well.:)

OMG - had the longest night of the last 7mths last night(that does not include the entire night i was in labour!)...

Caydence only had 1 30min nap yesterday at daycare and when i went to pick her up they were telling me how tired she'd been all day - why they didn't put her to bed knowing she was tired i will never know but she went to bed at 6 then up from 8:15 til after 11:30 - she was so overtired in the end after trying everything, including a car drive, i gave her a second bath, nice and warm with relaxing bath oil, followed by a few sips of a bottle and she went down without a fuss... only to be up again at 4:30 - so i have had less than 5 hrs sleep, Caydence is extremely tired, DH and i are both furious  at daycare, so he is going to say something to them today - we have decided that if they can't follow our wishes in regards to sleep then we're going to have to take her out of that centre.

Anyway, just a quick note, i had to get it off my chest otherwise i'd be furious over it all day until i got to pick her up this afternoon...

Hope you have all had a much better night.

PS - Brooke - strawberry and apple sound delicious! we tried pineapple and pear...

JRMumma, you poor thing. Have you tried speaking to the director of the centre. sometimes if you go above the heads of the actual staff then they start to pay attention to what you want done. Having said that, it must be hard for them, at my centre they have 15 babies (under 2's) in a room with 2, sometimes 3 teachers. Imagine having that many young ones to look after and trying to follow a different set of directions for each child.

I tried Blake on some toast - he just couldn't work out what to do with it! He was sucking on it and made it all soggy and yucky and then mushing it into the table!

Poor Blake has really been copping it from his big brother latley. this morning I was getting DS1 ready for preschool and left the boys together in the lounge room for literally 30 seconds. Blake lets out the loudest cry and I run out and Josh (DS1) is standing there just looking at him - I asked him "what happened to blake" he replied "I kicked bubby" - at least he doesn't know about lying yet but it just makes things hard because I can't get much done as it means leaving those two boys alone. Josh just can't be trusted with him, he is always doing things to poor Blake and hurting him :( now Blake has a big red mark on his face that resembles Josh's shoe.

I can only dream of a 6am start. DS#1 was always ready to go at 5.30am and this lasted until he was about 3! DD wasn't that early but not far off it. Hamish thinks anywhere betwwen 5am and 6am is a good time to start the day. The upside is we have never had to wake them for school as they are always up anyway and they are also in bed by 6.30-7.00pm.
Well we had our 5th night in a row of Hamish waking at least 2 hourly! I finally took him to the Dr's yesterday and he has a severe ear infection:( . Poor mite-he is now on antibiotics but it may take a day or so for them to kick in. DD also has a milder version so she was put on some ear drops which after getting all this from the chemist it turned out the ear drops were $28.00!!! I was very peeved and would have kept up the ear compresses I as giving her if I had known. We have never had drops before and I can't see us needing them again in the near future so most of them will probably go to waste. I worked out that of the 10 mls in the bottle she will use 1 1/2 mls for her treatment.
DS#1 is home as he has conjunctivitus, as do the other two, so we are not a well household. I am actually a bit scared that I'll get sick as I'll have to soldier on looking after our three children.

Hi Folks. HUGE ones of these ((((((((HUGS)))))))) and some of these:hugs: and these :hugs: for all of you. What a sorry lot we are at the moment. My heart really goes out to each of you. I wish there was something I could actually do to give us all a hand. Wouldn't it be great if we could:

get my DD and Josh together to play (ie; rough up someone their own size). She is just a few months older than Josh and is all over Liam, hugging and kissing him to within an inch of his life. I am at the point he rarely ever gets to sit on the floor I just carrying him at all times. (why he may never learn to crawl LOL)
Sal we could share the costs on the antibiotics for Hamish and Liam's ear infections and if Caydence would like to come over too I would happily take the 9pm to 5am shift to be up with the 3 babies (WTH I'll be up playing on BH anyway). Sal if you don't mind taking the morning shift. I not a big fan of daylight before at least 8am.
JRMumma and 2boysmummy would you like to do the menu for the day? sounds like you have some great ideas an I crave muffins now.
Brooke can we have morning tea at your house and test out that new lounge in PP's toy room?
Danni Where are you? we miss you and need you to come hang out with us, take photos of the event and crapbook it for us!!!
I'm running out of Ideas for how we can help your other little people Sal, wondering how we could form a mob of tired mummies to approach Jesse's Childcare centre, I think emilysmummas holiday house at Coffs could be incorporated into the plan. Anyone else got any ideas?Disclaimer: These may be the tires ramblings of a woman who's barin is barely functioning while drowning in snot from yet another dose of the cold. sorry :o

Thanks everyone - today we FINALLY had success! DH had firm(but polite) words with the director and as suspected - she knew there were sleep issues there but didn't realise how bad they were. Today the staff followed the guidelines we set out to a T - I typed up a sheet and told(not asked) them to stick it above her cot. I am happy to annouce that in total today at daycare she slept for 2.5-3hrs! it's amazing what listening can do! I feel so empowered now!

JR'smum - :hugs: to you and Blake - hopefully it is a phase that Josh will outgrow soon. Has it just started since he's been going to preschool? if so it might be worth checking if there is bullying going on there that he may see happening.

Reidy - Again you have made my day! I get so excited when i see you have posted - i just know it is going to make me laugh and smile and forget any worries i have! we'd be so lost without you! I, like Sal, now have the vision of us marching into the daycare centre, babies in arms!

Well, i don't know how I have survived this long today - 4-5hrs is just not enough sleep for anyone! and now my washing has finished so i'd better go hang that out:rolleyes:

Enjoy - I look forward to seeing tomorrow's installment!

JRMumma- looks like you are spot on. Josh's behaviour must be coming from witnessing other children at preschool. I received a call from kindy today saying there had been an "accident" ( they could have used a better word for it as I nearly had a heartattack thinking the worst had happened) anyway, another little boy had pinched Josh on the forehead ( don't know how someone manages to pinch someone's forehead but there you go ). Anyway, he has a nice blood blister type lump on his forehead and was pretty upset. So it's obvious where he is picking up these violent tendancies from. DH wants to take him out of preschool which I think is a bit extreme. I put it down to Karma for kicking Blake in the head!

Reidy - I am going to dream I'm in your fantasy world tonight - it sounds like a place I want to be in right now!

I have taken inspiration from all of you are cooking your bubbas up a storm! I bought some "cooking for babies & toddlers" books on ebay today.

Hope all little bubs recover soon, Blake is still very ill and has taken to sleeping in my bed full-time now (strongly encouraged by his overprotective mum) - I'm going to have a great time trying to get him back into his cot when he is well again

Hello and welcome Bub7. It's always great to hear from another December mummy. I'll look forward to hearing more about you and your little one.

Hi Jess. I'm so glad things have improved with the centre today and they are taking your instructions on board. Poor little Caydence must have been exhausted  I miss seeing you around. how is work going? do you like being back?

Sal, I hope your little people are starting to feel better and that your managing to avoid getting sick too. I have been meaning to say thankyou, thankyou, thankyou for including photos on Sunday. You made my week :smiliedance: What beautiful families you and JR'smum have, you must be very proud. And Sal that was a truly magnificent baby belly, you looked amazing!! I couldn't believe how close the real you looked to the image I had in my head :p. Thankyou too Brooke (ya big tease) I thought you would be taller:laughing: Anyone else got a photo to share and stop me being tortured with curiosity????

Talk about give a girl palpatations. I was praying so hard that the thread would still continue as my whole world crumbled thinking about the what ifs of not having the dec bubbies anymore. Oh I so do need to get a life.

And hello to Sarah. Sorry, didn't realise you hadn't found us yet.:o I know what you mean. I got all upset when I saw our thread closed but then relieved that there was another thread to continue in.;)

Well done Paige! I dream of the night Hamish sleeps through!
Thanks Reidy, I was a bit hesitant to have those preg pics done, but I'm so glad I did-it's a permanent image of my pregnancy.

Yay Jess! You go sorting them out at Caydence's CCC.

Hi everyone

Another little lost sheep here- mean old moderator:laughing:
Nah I love the moderators - they keep things nice:)

Sound like everyone is having their own little piece of fun at the moment.

Here's mine - another tooth:smiliedance: We have a lovely little sharp edge. The way she loves to gnaw on her rusks at the moment perhaps she has some rabbit genes??? The time between tooth one and two was only 3 weeks so we have had some cranky days.
She is making a valiant effort to sit up but I think the whole crawling thing is a little way off yet.
She's great at rolling though.

I dont know if I am ready for all of this. Before we all know it our little babies will be going to school:crying:

hey everyone thanks for the warm welcome to the dec mums 05.

Well DD has been sitting up for about 2 monts now but since she has been sitting she has forgotton how to roll  She used to roll around the room every where but now she hates to be lying down at all .

She hasnt yet cut any teeth but they are on the way, she has been teething for a little while now so we have had some grumpy nights just waiting for them to make their way through.

She also saying dad dad and nan nan :smiliedance: just started with nan but has been saying dad for about 1 1/2 mths now.

Welcome bub7!

I think Blake has also forgotten how to roll, but then again I wouldn't know because he refuses to lay down now that he can sit up well.

Welcome Bub7!

Seejay - Another tooth - WOW! so quick!

Well just a quick note - exciting news today - Caydence stood up on her own - without holding on! I knew it was only a matter of time, since she started cruising on the weekend - now all she wants to do at home is walk the length of the coffee table. hehehe

Anyway, it's late and lots to do!

Blairsmummy
02-08-2006, 20:59
Speaking of teeth, Blair just cut his third tonight. He is so miserable :crying: . He has now got two bottom teeth, and the new one that has cut on the top on the left. It is not one of his two front teeth, but not the canine either. It is the one in the middle of those two (after such a rough day, the name escapes me!).

Poor little man has awful nappy rash around his bot (for the first time ever) and, according to the baby nurse we went and saw today, he has scalded it with the repetitive loose montions today caused by the teething. Ahhhhhhhh...... It looks so sore, and actually caused the skin to crack and cause a little bleeding. :(

Mummy definitely needs some time out!!! He has hardly slept all day, and has totally worn me out. Do you guys get like this? Or is it just me?

Thank god DH got home about 10 mins ago and has taken him for some 'daddy' time. My sanity may return..... I know I left it round here somewhere :o

Anyway, I am now running to bed to catch a glimmer of sleep while I can. I doubt there will be too much on offer tonight.

Night all....

Wow Jess!! Standing and cruising on her own!! That girl is going to keep you on the hop. What a clever girl :yelclap:

Liam has been pulling himself up on everything all day and he's so strong:eek: . He seems determined to stand, but he still isn't brilliant at sitting, hasn't even attempted to crawl, cant roll from tummy to back and hates being on his tummy for more than a few minutes. I think he just wants to copy big sister. He seems to be thinking 'She stands and walks so why can't I'

Blairsmummy: Poor little fella hope he's OK and that you both get some rest for a better day tomorrow. All these babies with new little teeth!!! My 93year old Grandmother, who still has most of her own teeth by the way, always makes jokes about how much trouble teeth are when they are coming and when they are going. Liam has 4 teeth now, just the front two top & bottom with more threatening. I have been finding once the skin is broken and they are moving out of the gum, my little fell starts to settle down. Hope it's the same with you.

I sent an email to Danni. I hoped maybe she will see email even if she isn't checking on BH :fingerscrossed:

Hey Reidy - Go Liam - he'll be running after your dd in no time!

Blair'smummy - yes the long days do get tiring - :fingerscrossed: today will be better for you.

Reidy - I am also going to reply to your other post - work isn't too bad, going back was a lot easier than i had ever imagined. I am doing a lot of time and thought intensive reporting atm so that is making the days go reallly quickly and all worrying thoughts of Caydence are soon taken over by numbers - so i only get the good thoughts all day and am not worrying! I must say though that you have to be super organised - I also start work at 7am, so there is A) no time for organisation of a morning and B) i am too loud to be doing organising in the wee hours! So the night before I have clothes laid out for me and Caydence, lunches and bags packed, daycare forms filled in, a bottle prepared for during the night/first thing in the morning and then the obvious things like washing up done, laundry done etc. I took time out last night to call a friend and stayed on the phone for 2 hrs - only getting off because at the same time DH came to me and said "are we having dinner tonight?"(I'd completely forgotten and it was after 9:eek: ) my friends son started really cracking up and she had to go. So needless to say i couldn't be bothered cooking at 9pm and we had take-away! All in all the return to work has gone well - although i do miss monday swimming, m&s and all the great picnics:(

got to dash - going to be late for work at this rate!

oh boy! this is the 2nd time ive had to write this.... i just wrote a really long post and them my puter froze and had to turn it off!! argh!

Anyways, as i was saying, thank you for all the mesages, i feel special now! haha
and thanks to sal for the PM and carolyn for the email as i wouldnt have known about the change in forum spots, i would freaked if i came on and our thread was gone!! so lucky i was pre-warned.

Things have been so busy lately, and just havent had enough hours in the day.
Indy just cruisin around the house so much, its unreal!

Just went to brisbane the other day coz we were going to buy a car from there.. the salesman kept raving on how beautiful it was etc,, but when we drove all the way down there .. it was a big piece of s***! so we turned around and came all the way home with nothing.. i was so cranky at them! AND THEN a couple of days later i get a bill in the mail from them charging us $550!!! they reckon its "costs associated with organising a car for us!
im certainly not paying it! i was thinking of taking it to a solicitor or even ringing today tonight and exposing them , damn rip off's and trying to sell dodgy cars!
OR i was going to send them a bill of my own! for travellin 14 hours for a car that doesnt match as described. in fact, no where near it! it had scratches and dints and broken parts all over it, the leather interior was all ruin, and ripped etc..

Anyways, i get over that.. THEN.. i get another bill in the mail yesterday from telephone company that im not even with!!!
It was all in our name, our telphone number etc.. saying that we had rung FIJI!!! and 7 times, costs nearly $200 for it what the???!!
i recently had to format my computer coz i had a lot of viruses and worms etc.. so i think it might have something to do with that asi had auto dialers on there.. but werent worried about it as i THOUGHT i couldnt ring internationally.
so some how they got around that!

ok now my post is getting huge so i better stop my whinging, on a better note.. we did finally buy a nice new car and pick it up tomorrow *yay* its a VX SS 5.7ltr v8. im so excited. :smiliedance:
although havent told the kids coz i wanna surprise them, by picking them up at school in it hehe.
Last night showed them a pick of a really old buggered, rusted out old commodore wagon and old them thats what to look for hahaha
Just the look on their face was so funny, so will be even better when we pick them up in a nice new car will be great. :D

Ok i really will go now. i have alot of bubhub reading to catch up on and cant wait to hear from you all. sorry this is so long!!

Blairsmummy - Perhaps there should be a thread where stress out mums can just cry and bang heads just to let it all out.

I'm sure it would be popular!!!!

Thanks for your support guys. The more he cried last night, the more I wanted to too! I had already given teething relief, panadol, bonjela and a hundred and one nice cool things to chew, and was out of options. Thankfully he finally had some food (he had been off his food) and fell asleep when feeding. He went down at 10:30pm and we didn't hear from him again until 8:00 this morning!!! All that growing teeth and crying must have worn him out.

dannii - Something doesn't sound right with that car you travelled to see. What preparation could they possibly have done that would have been $500?? Sounds super dodgy to me.

Reidymac - Blair has started pulling himself up on everything too. Hasn't figured out how to get back down yet of course... but he's up and bouncing :smiliedance: He seems to have had a big developmental growth spurt though. In the last week, he has learned to sit on his own, crawl (at lightening speed!), and pull himself up on things. Maybe Liam will do the same, or do what I did and just watch the older sibling and get up and walk without ever crawling!

Yay, Dannii!!! great to hear from you. Indy is keeping you very bust by the sounds of it. I'm glad all is well for you. i wou;d completely ignore the car dealer 's bill. Let them know you will not be paying and be done with it. I can't see how they can hold you to it.

Don't worry Brooke, Hamish is still only rolling from tummy to back once and that's it. He'll be the latest, I expect.

poor Blairsmummy! It's awful when you can't comfort them. Hamish had us awake for 5 nights before I went to the GP's only to discover he has a severe ear infection-how good did I feel after that! He is finally happy again today and last night he only woke twice!

JRMumma-you amaze me! You must be so super organised to get through your days. I know you have posted this before but how many days/hours are you working now?

How right you are - I remember when Josh was a baby, I used to wish he would crawl and then walk, I was always pushing him along to the next stage. But once he did all those things I missed the days when I could just plonk him down and I'd know he'd still be in the same spot when I cam back to check on him. I guess Blake is taking after his brother and taking time just looking around at the world before he actually decides to explore it :D

Just thought that I'd add that I am also having childcare problems - but with my 2 yr old. I went to pick him up today and when I arrived I could hear him crying - as I got closer to the room I heard him saying "bot bot please" he was basically BEGGING for a drink. I am sure they know what "bot bot" means by now.

As I walked into the room he saw me and came running over with tears rolling down his cheeks. I asked them what was wrong and they told me that another boy had been climbing over him and he didn't like it ( well, umm ... don't let the boy climb over him then ) they told me he was practising his "stops" (this is what they teach the children to say when another kid is doing something that makes them angry.

Firstly, I am almost 100% sure that the MAIN reason he was crying was because he was thirsty (he drank 3 glasses of water in a row when we got home) secondly, if a child is climbing on another child and he isnt happy about it - why don't you take the kid of my son rather than just telling Josh to say "stop". These kids are only 2!

Anyway, I was pretty angry that they didn't do anything, especially after Tuesdays accident - with another child pinching him on the face ...

I am starting to wonder if it is right for me to have him going to preschool so early (he is only just over 2 ) - perhaps I should take him out and wait another year or so before he goes again? But then again, i really do enjoy the time alone with Blake when Josh is at preschool

Me
03-08-2006, 19:59
big :hugs: JR'sMum - if your not happy with that centre and still want to try him out at preschool then perhaps it might be worth while checking out a few other centres - just to see what's on offer. I did this the other day when i was still quite upset about the whole sleep issue and i found that afterwards i was a lot happier with our centre - and now they have been following our sleep rules(today and tonight not even a sound!) and so we are much much happier - it is just a way for you to find out if you are truely wanting to make a move away from your centre or not. :hugs: I hope things improve for you - when DH spoke one on one with the director we started getting somewhere - perhaps that might be the best option for now.

Sal - I work full time - 7-3:30 Mon-Fri - I usually make up a few lunches etc at a time and freeze them so I just take a container out of the freezer and put it in the fridge each night, by the time it gets to daycare in the morning it's defrosted. I also write out a meal plan for Caydence for the week so that I can make sure that over the week her meals are quite balanced - usually 1 calcium based snack a day, fruit and cereal for lunch, then meat and veg for dinner - also saves having to think about what to prepare iykwim... plus on the organisation front - i'm a virgo - it's a built in mechanism!

Welcome back dannii - we missed you!

yeah tell me about it. just because he thought he was gonna have an easy sale, he set everything up for us to take it, even though we were just down to have a look.
i mean, who just buys a car from out of town without at least looking at it first!
stuff them, were not paying!

anyways great to be back, im sorry to hear about some of the lil problems with settling bubs / sleeping etc..

ive had such a rough time with indy up untill now so i know ho u all feel.

But now, Indy has a pretty reguarly routine for herself. which is bed at 8:30, feed at midnight then sleeps till about 8am.

she goes back to sleep at about 9:30-10am for about an hour then she will have another big sleep for couple of hours after lunch and then another nap in the afternoon.

its taken this long but now its great.

ive also just got out the walker and made more room in the loungeroom for her so she just cruises around,
just like a changed kid now! dont know where the other evil indy went  but im glad shes more content these days.
just started her eating weet bix for breaky & loves it.

By the way... what sort of fruit do you girls feed your bubs???
are you just cutting up fresh fruits? indy has bananas and lovs it but not keen on much else, but gotta keep trying different ones.
any tips?

I also write out a meal plan for Caydence for the week so that I can make sure that over the week her meals are quite balanced - usually 1 calcium based snack a day, fruit and cereal for lunch, then meat and veg for dinner - also saves having to think about what to prepare iykwim... plus on the organisation front - i'm a virgo - it's a built in mechanism!

Wow-my hat goes off to you! I'm pleased that as a virgo your organisation skills are in place. Our 7yo virgo DS is absolutely hopeless at organising himself! But my dad is great and he is a Virgo so maybe DS just has to grow into it.:D

wow jess you are busy! i guess you would have to be super organised other wise it may turn in to kaos!

jrsmum- wow poor little man thats awful they were just ignoring him! :crying: Makes me so sad when i hear things like that.. which is one of the main reasons im too scared to go back to work full time and leave pp in childcare!

well i have agreed to go in to work for 2 half days a week to help out for a couple of weeks and my mil will travel down to watch paige for those days. I am actually realy looking forward to it!

 Morning all!
Brook - way to go on the weight loss, good to hear you can spoil youself a little when it's needed!!

jrsmum - I just don't think thats good enough from your child care centre! your poor lil man.

Jrmumma - hats off to you! you sound like super woman to me! :D

dannii - I give my little one two fruits pureed, apples pureed. Riley's favorite atm is stewed fruit compote:
2 cups water
1/3 dried apricots
1/3 cup seeded prunes
1 sml pare peeled, sliced
1 cinnamon stick
1 tbsp brown sugar
combine all ingredients in pan simmer, covered for 20mins. Cool, discard cinnamon stick and puree.......can serve with natural yogurt.

Well Riley slept really well last night. His last solids were at 5pm and he had a b/feed at 6pm and went to bed and didn't wake till 6am this morning! :smiliedance: Yay! happy mummy! I will be really happy if that becomes a regular thing....not holding my breath though.

His teething and seems quite sore his gums are bumpy too but no teeth yet, I figure we still have a few mths to go Caleb (DS#1) didn't get his first tooth till he was 10mths old.

Riley is growing increasingly frustrated on the floor....he sits really well, can roll where ever he wants. He can comando crawl when he really wants something but cannot crawl on all fours. He gets up on all fours then trys to crawl on his toes, like a push-up. It looks very cute but not very efficient, I can see he just want s to move so fast but doesn't know how too.....soon enough though!!

:ecomcity: Well thats enough from me, hope you all have a good day!

Our weekend is a bit busy. I'm doing a market tomorrow so a very early start for Hamish and I. Maybe Tristan and Ella will sleep in for Darryl-doubt it! As soon as I get home, around 3pm, Darryl is off to a mates to replace the Transfer case in our car. :fingerscrossed: they put everything back in the right places! He will be working on this until at least Sunday, so I'll be able to relax a bit by Sunday, although I have all the children so we'll see how that relaxing pans out  .
I am exhausted tonight. I spent the day at the hospital with my Grandpa who is not doing very well. He had a heart problem last Monday night and as my cousin is looking after him, she called an ambulance and he ended up in coronary care. My nana has been away for 10 days, so she has come home today to all this! He isn't very well physically (very spritely mentally) and the Dr's have a no-rescus on him so it may be soon. My poor cousin, bless her, she has stayed by his bedside since Monday, only going home to shower and change. I wanted to wait until Hamish wasn't so sick as I didn't want him taking more bugs into the hospital, so I only got there today. It's hard, even though he is 89 and very tired, I still have trouble accepting it is his time. Anyway, it's just the way things are sometimes so all I can do is hope that when the time comes it's peaceful for him and for my nana.

Your Granpa will be in my thoughts this weekend, it must be a hard time for you and your family. I hope he is resting as comfortably as possible in hospital :hugs:

Blakes Bronchiolitis seems to be getting worse, he has not eaten for 24 hrs now and has only taken around 200 mls of milk all day. I am starting to worry about him as he seems to have lost a bit of weight now - the antibiotic course I was given for him has almost run out, I will see how he goes tonight and if he is no better it might be time for a trip down to the hospital :( His cough is more constant and although he isn't having though he isn't having trouble breathing, I'm worried he'll dehydrate.

Anyway, just stopped in quickly to take my mind off things and to have a break - must run!

Hope everyone gets a good rest this weekend.

JR'smum: hope little Blake is feeling much much better today. I'll be thinking of you too.

Danni: It's so great to hear from you. we've missed you around here.

we did finally buy a nice new car and pick it up tomorrow *yay* its a VX SS 5.7ltr v8. I'm so excited. :smiliedance:
Cool car Danni. My DH drives a very black VT SS 5.7ltr V8 with cold air intake and very meaty custom exhaust for a company car. It gives a seriously deep and loud rumble, so loud that when I hear him coming home from work I still have time to clean up the house, have a shower, put on a load of washing and make dinner before he gets into the driveway

Jess: You are a wonder-woman. I am in awe of your drive and organisation. I should have known you were a virgo woman. So many of my friends are Virgo's and they all say that is a built in mechanism. I think I drive them to distraction with my style of casual kaos. I have always loved the saying 'Alls well that ends well, and if it hasn't ended well then that just isn't the end" I believe that this makes me a typical Leo!!.:p

Carolyn: is it your birthday???? thats sneaky.. you didnt tell us! happybirthday i wish i was down there!! i really hope u have a fantastic day!
i love the sounds of the company car you have!
ours is still standard - well for an SS. but a cold air intake & exhaust work wont be far away.. DF already got heaps of plans!
The first thing im doing, is taking it to the muffler shop and having them remove ours!! its so damn quiet!! it will look funny going to have our muffler taken off because last time we were there we were having to put one on to make our black car quieter after the police kindly gave us a ticket for noise!
so i will make it louder untill we get done again. norti norti.

what are you doing for your birthday Carolyn?

Just a quick question - has any other little ones decided after a few months of no night bottle that they want one again? Caydence has woken for a night bottle every night this week?!? I've started giving her breakfast this weekend so :fingerscrossed: that will do the trick - perhaps I also need to be giving her bigger serves?!? Any suggestions?

jess, indy stated sleeping through the night and not needing feeds, but has also decided to change her mind. her body clock wakes up at midnight now without fail
but usually the last untill about 7 - 8am so she goes quite some time.
sometimes at 5 she gets up, but not often.

I have no advice at all, Jess. Hamish is currently going to bed at 5.30pm and then waking almost three hourly until 5am when he is ready to party! I'm so tired right now, but his ear is clearing up so maybe we'll have more success in the sleep dept soon!:fingerscrossed:

dannii
06-08-2006, 15:25
hey sal, have you tried keeping hamish up for as long as you can and setting his bedtime abit later to see if you will sleep through? say 8pm or so?
indy used to nap at around 6 then i couldnt get her to bed for ages. so ive cut out that then put her to bed at 8pm and she sleeps through (well besides the feed at midnight , that i was saying about)
just a suggestion.. i know that your experienced at this mummy stuff so im probably stating the obvious

Thanks Dannii. iIthought about doing that. But, as I'm sure you know, it gets to 5pm and I am so stuffed that the thought of putting him to bed is sooo appealing. And I do like that we four then get to have dinner together and I can spend time with the big two. Darryl has been away overnight too so I am especially tired today-last night was a disastrous night and it's so much harder when you're on your own. I always joke that I will never leave him based on the fact that I need him to give the baby breakfast and hold him while I put the washing out on the line!
I think I'll give him a few more days to get over his illness and then take a better look at how everything is working-or not!!!:D

Thanks also to everyone else here who has sent me kind wishes regarding my grandpa and my sick children. I am trying to ring my dad tonight to get an update on Grandpa. You girls are awesome-thanks heaps!!:D

You girls are so gorgeous :hugs: . Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I have had a lovely day, it has been lots of fun and very chaotic, but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Little Liam started the days festivities by waking at 4am with a little present he had made and wrapped himself IYKWIM then deciding it was party time. Since then I have been spoilt rotten, seen lots of family and friends, been picnicking, taken for a shopping spree at a nursery, planted my presents and had a special dinner. And... to top it all off my dear sweet husband organised for us to go out again after the little ones had been tucked up in bed at grandmas house. It's the first time I have left Liam really, so I was a bit nervous at first but it was so lovely to be out with my partner. We went to a late movie and supper which was strangely reminiscent of the date he took me on for my 16th Birthday (yes we have been together for that long) although, after that date I definitly don't recall having to go and pick up our 2 little children (thank goodness). I have just finished resettling them, DH is unpacking the car and I though I would jump on here for 'just a second' to see how my fav Dec mum's have been doing today so I was very touched to see all your birthday wishes, thankyou again. Now, it's getting very late and if DH and I are going to continue this date just like we did 18 years ago, I think it's time I get off the computer and go back down to the car to 'make out'  Goodnight

Reidy - I'm so glad you were spoilt rotten - you truely deserve it - you are an amazing woman and it is lovely to be reminded of that, especially when it's your birthday!

Well after giving Caydence larger serves yesterday for lunch and dinner plus breakfast she slept through again last night!:smiliedance: As DH is time restricted in the mornings and she's not crying out to be fed we're going to try just larger serves for lunch and dinner today and see how that goes, otherwise I'm going to make DH a coffee in the morning before I go so he has something to A) help him wake up! and B) to entice him out of bed! that way he'll have plenty of time to give Caydence breakfast - plus he might have something himself!

Anyway, best be off to get ready for the day - breakfast to be had, hair to be brushed, teeth to be cleaned... Enjoy your day!

The exciting news????? Hamish woke for his 9pm feed but when he woke at midnight, I popped his dummy back in and :smiliedance: he went back to sleep!! He then didn't wake until 2.30am, so I actually had 5 hours of sleep!:yelclap: I know to anyone who hasn't had a wakeful baby that may not sound very exciting, but for you girls who have had one, you know EXACTLY what I mean when I say I'M EXCITED...........:D

Welcome HSE & J's mumma, I'm a newbie too! It's a great bunch of bubhubians here...hope to see you around more!

Funky - Yay 5 hrs sleep way to go hope it's not a one off and you get some well deserved sleep. I'm so sorry to hear about your grandpa you and your family are in my thoughts and your grandpa is in my prayers.

Reidy - happy belated birthday wishes!!! Sounds like you had yourself a busy day and a lovely night with your DH.

JRmumma - good to hear Caydence is sleeping so well we did the same with Riley..giving him bigger serves for lunch and dinner and it did the trick for us he's been sleeping through for the last 3 weeks. Hope it continues for you!

Riley crawled on Sunday morning on all fours but he was crying so much cause I wouldn't pick him up (wanted to see if he's crawl to me) that he didn't realise what he had done LOL
I'll enjoy it while it last cause I'm sure once he can move around more quickly he'll be under my feet at every chance...he's a big mumma's boy!

Hi there everyone (the newbies & the oldies)

Just a quickie, to shout to the world that Ryan said a distinct 'mum mum mum' this morning in his high chair :p it was very cute. I wasn't sure if it was the real deal but we caught up with some friends today, and he did it again, so I have confirmation!!! On the crawling front, still not quite there, but we have found a new position (similar to a sexy sideway mermaid pose) that we are comfortable in. We seem to fall into this position whilst trying to crawl!

We have had a busy weekend with visitors, so havn't caught up on posts as yet, will get back to them later. At a glance - Reidy, hope you had a lovely birthday!, Funky - hope your Grandpa is doing ok, Jess - glad you sorted out the day care troubles, I really feel for you guys who are in those positions it must be just so hard. Jrsmum, hope Blake is doing better too.

Have a good week everyone

Hey Everyone, thanks for all the well wishes for Blake. He does finally seem to be improving, however, he is just not eating or drinking much at all. I'm afraid he'll fade away to nothing if he keeps going like this!

He's never been a big feeder (which is strange considering how big he is) I'm luck if he drinks 500mls in 24hrs and he might have 2 small meals - do you think I need to see someone about it? I'm worried he just isn't developing at the rate he should be.

After reading all the posts about bubba's crawling and doing all sorts of fantastic stunts - I'm starting to think there might be an issue. Blake just sits there and does very little - he still occassionaly stacks it if he gets a bit enthuastic and tries to reach too far for something.

I did have similar issues with DS1 and he is still a bit behind (especially in speech) other kids and he is now almost 2 and a half and is still not toilet trained ( I have tried but he is terrified of the potty or the toilet)

Glad to hear that everyone seems to be getting on so well. Sorry about having such a whinge on this post - I feel like I'm ALWAYS whinging

Hope everyone gets a good nights rest.

JR'sMum
If you can't have a winge here, where can you?
I'm gald to hear that Blake is doing better thats good news.
It sounds like he's eating like a sparrow atm but is he generally happy? I'd go by this cause all bubbas do things in their own time. 2 of my nephews didn't crawl or move much until they were 10 - 11 mths. Blake sounds like he is sitting well so he is developing good. Maybe you could ask your MCH nurse about it if you're concerned. How big is Blake? I knever know how much to feed them, I think they just let you know. Sometimes I think I'm over feeding Riley, he weighed 9.1kg at his last appointment (at 7mths). He's on the 90th percentile for his weight at his age. :o

Not sure I can help on the toilet training but with Caleb (DS#1) we put a bright coloured poster in the toilet with his name on the top and when he went to the toilet properly he got to choose a sticker and put it on by himself. When he got to his magic number (for us it was 5) he got a treat or small toy (hot wheels cars were his fav.) This worked for us.
I've also heard that a pingpong ball in the potty or loo is good for distracting their mind and gives them something fun to try and hit. I think it's more for standing but could maybe work for sitting.
Not sure what else you could try but good luck

JR'sMum - Blake sounds like he is going great guns, but as 2boysmummy pointed out, if you are at all worried just ask at your next CHN checkup. About the feeding thing, I'm sure Blake would let you know when he's hungry - Caydence has just let me know she is ready for Breakfast - only took a week of night waking for me to get the point(slow mummy:shame: ) but we got there and this morning DH will be giving her breakfast - I need the sleep!

Sal - that is such great news about the sleeping - I'm so excited for you! :fingerscrossed: more nights like this come your way!

Tracey - How exciting - Ryan's first word!

2boysmummy - Also very exciting - Riley crawling! He'll be able to chase you down now everywhere!!! Last night Caydence crawled after me the entire length of our house:eek:

All the bubbas are learning new things every day - I'm so hooked into finding out what's happening i'm coming on 'just to check' morning and night - can't wait for tomorrows installment!(can't get online tonight:laughing: )

A quickie from me too! I'm suppossed to be doing the census form but I had to have a look in here as i have been out all day. :D
JR'SMUM-I'm glad Blake is feeling better. Don't stress on the development stuff-Hamish still can only roll from tummy to back once and seems happy with that. He doesn't even sit up on his own yet-I put him in the washing basket with a bunch of toys ans when he wobbles, he just bounces off the sides! My other two didn't move for a long time either.

Welcome Indimum! That makes two Indy's (diff spelling) and two Hamish's. Wow-you would never expect that in one month.

Brooke-sounds like you are having a great time!

Well Hamish has decided that he is going to scream like crazy as soon as I put him to bed in the evening. This has always been the time that I just pop him in the cot and he happily plays until he falls asleep. For 2 nights now he ahs screamed on and off for an hour-with me going in to try and reassure him. I don't think it matters how many bubba's we have, they are all just so different!

Ok, I'm getting mad. This is now the THIRD time I have written a post only to lose it before I actually submit it.

Hi Girls

Don't ask me what happened but just thank your lucky stars that those posts did dissapear as it was just a load of drivel anyway :o

Well we are back from the shack again. We left late Friday night and got back on Monday night. I have been so busy catching up on everything that this is the first chance I've even had to read what's been going on.
I've never appreciated a flushing toilet and tv as much as I do now since there is now power or running water down there. The toilet consists of a cut off hollowed tree stump with a toilet seat bolted to it. Yes I went straightaway and bought one of those chemical toilets from Big W. I like roughing it but that was a bit much to ask of a girl.

This is still a load of drivel but I just can't help myself.

So not to make this post too long with catching up on everyones post I just want to say I've missed you all while I was away (I know it was only for the weekend) but it's really been a couple of weeks since I've actually had time to be on here.

Time to go and prowl around BH

well dh has just finished the blind in Paiges room... so much darker in there now! :smiliedance: Its amazing how much difference it actually makes! Lets hope the one in our room will do the same trick and :fingerscrossed: it wont take him so long to put ours up... men some times take for ever to do things!

LOL sounds good to me Brooke!!

Thats a good idea about PPs room

By the way, a question for all....

How do you get your bubs to sleep.

The last month or so, indy only goes to sleep now if we just put her in her cot with her dummy and lil pillow. (after her feed etc..)
At the start she had to be cuddle, rocked etc etc to get her fast asleep in our arms and then transferred quietly into her bed.
Same with my other kids.

Its just sooooo easy now!
Soon as naptime is approaching we just put her down and she goes to sleep all by herself  im shocked that this ithe way she likes it!

ive never had motherhood so easy. she has had a complete turn around and turned into an angel child! im scared lol

brooke

dannii PP is the same.. we just put her down and she goes straight to sleep at night...
during the day its takes a bit longer but no rocking or anything!

:smiliedance: What a sweetheart little Indy is. Good on you Danni sounds like you have a very content little girl and :smiliedance: Princess Paige what wonderful sleepy girls  you mummies must be doing something very right.

I'm not sure if it's my habit or Liam's but I'm still swaddling him and then feeding/ rocking him into a coma. It doesn't take too long for him to go to sleep and he's down by around 9pm. But where he used to then sleep for 8 hours minimum, now (since June) he is waking every couple of hours and feeding/ cosleeping for a big chunk of the night. So far it's not bothering me too much and I'm just waving it off as the the consequence of the developmental leap and growth spurt he's working on........but ask me in another month. The trade off is that he has just started to sleep during the day for more than 20 min. If I work it just right, I am getting DD and Liam to sleep after lunch at almost the same time and he's sleeping for around 2 hours ish. DD sleeps for almost 3 (another wonderful sleepy girl.

Now I have to go and raid the larder. Every time I read this thread lately someone is baking something gorgeous and I end up with cravings. mmmmmmmm-vanilla-sponge-with-butter-icing-*drool*-cookies-mmmmmmmmm

Hi Carolyn

Don't worry about lil Liam i bet hes just in a quick faze and he will go through another again soom.. indy been through so many. You do such a great job. Liam is a beautiful baby! when i seen him he was just well behaved, not a peep from him!!

Indy started off my hardest of all babies, now she has just changed so much.
She can be real difficult at times but other times so easy. she can be very demanding and she knows what she wants! scares me sometimes haha

Hey Danni. Whats a nice girl like you doing in a place like this at this late hour of the night

You are such a sweetheart. I am sure your right. I think he's going through a little stage and doing what babies do best (deprive their mothers of sleep while being insanely cute and loveable).

she can be very demanding and she knows what she wants! scares me sometimes haha
What a strong and clever woman she is growing up to be. Where does she get this from Miss Danni  I suspect this is a talent she has leart from a very strong and clever mummy who is not to be messed with.

reidy.. I am with dannii no doubt it is just a faze, and from what I have heard boys are a little bit harder.. (from what my friends with boys have said) they normally need a little bit more comfort etc... come to think of it I am sure they never change.. dh is still them same:rolleyes:

Good morning ladies! My weren't we up late last night? Actually i was awake too just not on Bubhub. I was lying in bed with a screaming baby next to me! Reidy, I'm so pleased to hear Liam is unsettled. Now, before you think I am sounding horrible, it is only because I don't feel so alone now! The last two nights have been torture. Hamish wakes around midnight, has a feed but then feeds, cries, fidgets until about 4.30 when he is 'awake'. It is becoming so tiring...... I am really hoping he is just having a growth spurt. His cry is more of a extrememly loud gutteral yelling. Almost like he gets his whole body primed and lets go with everything he has. The hardest part is that he doesn't stop or slow down no matter how many times I resettle him. He will stop while he's feeding but won't go back to sleep afterwards. I think I am going to start going to bed around 8pm so I can get at least 4 hours sleep in one block and then just follow his cue. If he is ready to be up at 4.30 am, I'm just going to have to adjust myself accordingly. I was always up at 5am with our two big ones when they were little-I just feel so much older this time!
I think I'm pretty drained emotionally too. Grandpa is still with us but it really is a waiting game and it just feels really wrong to know we are waiting for him to die. Like am I just visiting to get in one more last visit or do I say goodbye and not go back to the hospital. I'm really not sure how to go about this. My mum is having another basket-case thing going on so she isn't of any support for us so it's a bit like the blind leading the blind. Ok, enough from me before you all question my sanity!
Hope you all have a great day.:)

Oh, I just realised you girls were here now! Dannii and Brooke, I am genuinely happy that your girls are settled-it is such a relief when they are happily sleeping. If they are anything like my DD, they will always be strong-willed and independent. My DH often remarks, "I wonder where she gets that from?". Come to think of it, so do my parents!

Yeah its abit confusing , and ive notice some of the newcomers arent too sure which thread is to stay and chat. Maybe we could get the other couple of december 05 birth group threads closed to avoid confusion????

Sal, just sen your other reply.. sory missed it b4..
im so sorry to hear what your going through. sounds so draining. Stay strong. your a tough woman. big big hugs.
my thoughts are with you and for your granpa.

Hamish has been abit difficult lately? well if it makes you feel any better, right after i finished saying how good indy has been , she then gave me hell all night!! from just after her midnight bottle she just cried and cried all night. then by 3am decided it was party time. i was so tired. it was my own fault, i jinxed myself.

I always do FEEL for mums that have it tougher with their bubs, coz thats all ive ever known! my other 2 were very very hard babies, and indy started off the same. and ive had friends who say how good their babies were and i just thought "their lying!!! its not possible!!"

Anyways.. will talk soon.. going to pick my new car up in about 15 mins!! :smiliedance:

Take care sal and to everyone :hugs:

Good Evening all!

well not much to report here but just had to drop in at least to say hi!

Sal :hugs: you are in one of the toughest situations of your life - please don't forget to take care of yourself as well so that you don't 'burn out'. We are all here for you whenever you need us. my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dannii - loved your post "what's a mix master?" hows the car? were the kids surprised?

Brooke - how did the blinds work out? is PP sleeping longer?

Sarah - Welcome back - apart from the lack of running water and power - was the 'shack' relaxing? I hope so... we're hoping to get away to our 'weekender' next weekend - hopefully a chance to catch up on some rest and relaxation...

Reidy - :fingerscrossed: we'll see you tomorrow night - I'm sure Caydence would love to have some playtime with Liam.

Anyway, must get some sleep, i have a feeling we could be in for a bit of an upset night tonight too - Caydence just woke up about 20 mins ago, although I managed to re-settle her quickly - just a bit of a cuddle and off she went again - only problem at night is i don't hear her stir so by the time she wakes me up she WIDE awake:rolleyes:

I was right(oh i don't get to say that too often  ) when i thought we'd be in for a restless night - and I was spot on too! She is still awake and whinging in her cot - like she has been for most of the night. She had a midnight bottle which is most unusual then still had her 5am bottle(only gave her a 1/2 bottle cause i still want her to have breakfast!) and woke a few other times during the night - i really hope for everyones sake that this phase doesn't last too long

I also feel really rude because i forgot to welcome indimum:wave: hello and welcome - I'm sorry I forgot to do it last night, must be LOS(lack of sleep) - is that actually an abreviation(sp??) or did i just make that up?!? oh well, again must be LOS!

Anyway, the paperman just delivered the papers(can hear them clunking on the neighbours lawn!) which means it must be time for me to continue getting ready for work... hmmm, yes, breakfast must be made!

Good morning all

There must be something in the air as it seems our bubbas are going through a stage of unsettling. As I've mentioned (ok, whinged) about in previous posts that Emily had decided to get up every two hours at night and every time needed feeding then patting to sleep and I was going out of my mind it's unfortunatley happening to in various ways for a lot of us.
Big hugs for you Sal :hugs: for having sleepless nights with a upset bubba and for you and your family in regards to your grandpa.

As you said Carolyn you need to accept this change otherwise you'll pull your hair out. And I did accept that this is what she needed this constant help to get to sleep and guess what? It has become better again. :smiliedance: (fingerscrossed i didn't just jinx myself)
For the pass week I can feed her about 6.30 in the evening and put her in her cot and just like she use to go straight off to sleep until the early hours of the morning. This was my guaranteed sanity saver at the end of the day in which I knew once the last feed of the night was done I wouldn't hear from her for at least 6-7 hours. When that guarantee went about a month ago, as your aware I moaned and groaned to you all here about it.
Funnily enough once I relaxed about it (which is hard when you are sooooo sleep deprived or LOS) a few days later it stopped.

I think maybe the perceptive little angels that they are :p obviously feel the tension and stress coming from us.

Well today as was yesterday the weather here is clear skies and sunny.
Looking forward to getting out and about in it and stuff the housework today. If I'm not home I can't see how bad it is so I think that's a plan for today.

BTW Dannii, what's the new car like????? You rev head.

brooke
11-08-2006, 21:31
sarah- no not at all.. she is loving her cot and now so are we... I am actually really glad we made the move now.. some nights i really miss her but its good that we can now actually move in bed and not worry about making noise!

PP is sleeping at my mums tomorrow which will be nice for dh and i... i think we will go out for dinner and then the drive ins.. I cant wait i love the drive ins if not then i will just veg out on the lounge and relax.. I will be happy with either. :smiliedance:
I am going to bite the bullett tomorrow and go get my blood test done. I have been putting it off and putting it off but i really need to go.. been having more problems again and now my periods are all messed up too.. Good monrning dec mums! You know how there is the Generation X and Babby Boomers etc...? Well I've decide that this lot of babies must belong to the generation wakeful! Although Hamish has improved-back to his 'normal' 2-3 feeds/ night so I have to be grateful for that. As you said, Sarah, relaxing and accepting them how they are can make such a difference. I know exactly what you mean about that guaranteed block of sleep. I was like that with DS#1. Knowing that once 6pm arrived, he would go to sleep and I knew I'd hear nothing until 1am and then after a while it became 3am. It was so important to me. People would gasp when I said we started our day at 5am but it was perfectly ok with me knowing I had the evenings free. Their children were still running around late at night and then as time wore on they found they had so much trouble waking their children for kinder and school.
Brooke-it sounds like PP has a new found love affair with her cot! yay for her. Good luck with your blood tests-I hope all is OK for you. Take some deep breaths and focus on nice, calm things to try to distract yourself.:)

Thanks so much to all of you for your support. It means a lot to me to know I have you girls to talk to and 'let it all out'. Grandpa is still with us but not too good now.

Good Morning all!
It seems all the sleeping issues are getting better - Caydence went through til 4am! then went back to bed til 7 - so for me that was a HUGE sleep-in:smiliedance: DH got up to her at 7 so i even snuck in an extra 10-15mins!

Well as Sarah said, it's a beautiful day today and for once on a weekend - i don't really have any housework - d:smiliedance: did it all during the week - so now i can enjoy the weekend for relaxing and having some quality family time!

Reidy - it was great to see you and Liam last night - my mum couldn't believe he's got 4 teeth!

Well I'm off to do the 1 bit of housework i do have - hang out 1 load of washing! I can't believe i also only have 1 load!!!

Enjoy the weekend:wave:

I'm so so SO glad to hear that not all the Dec bubs are perfect little sleepers ... I was starting to wonder if Blake was the only little "night monster" out there.

To give you all a quick run down (and hopefully make you all feel like you have the easiest bub in the world) here goes:

Blake has now Permanently moved into my bed. In order to go to sleep I must lay with him and put my face about 2 cm's from his whilst patting him on the backside. This doesn't take too long and is fine as long as you don't try to move him! I usually get him down (in my bed) at about 8pm, then midnight rolls around and all hell breaks lose - he decides he is starving - screams the house down whilst I run around preparing a bottle. He slowly sucks on the bottle taking FOREVER to drink it. Then happily goes to sleep again. DS1 is usually pretty good and stays in his own bed but if he decides to make the dash down the hall then the drama starts again. He wants to get in bed too - there just isn't enough room for 4 anymore - DH usually has to jump out and take DS1 back to bed (and lay with him) then as DH has fallen asleep with him, I have to go and wake DH up at 5am for work..... of course DS1 realises that his daddy isn't in bed with him anymore and comes running in screaming and naturally this wakes Blake up and yes, it's only 5am!

Well, I have been using Blake being sick as an excuse, but now I know that he just likes mummy & daddys bed. In desperation we have moved the cot back into our room but as I type, the cot is empty and Blake is YOU GUESSED IT happily snuggled up in our bed

Welcome to our world! Try five in a bed with the two bigger ones (child variety) arguing over who is going to be next to Hamish and who was there the longest yeaterday morning-this all usually starts around 5am here too! Just keep telling yourself, they will grow out of it, they will grow out of it, they will grow out of it, there's no place like home.....Ooops, wrong mantra!:D

Ok you win JRSmum :p
I still need to assist Emily to sleep during the day as well, whether it's patting, rubbing her back in the cot, if we are out then pushed/rocked in the pram, in the car it's usually off by herself unless she is really tired then I have to turn around and pat her and sing to her (not if i'm driving though) or hold her hand and then of course at night she is fed to sleep.
Sometimes it's little kisses on the forehead, just whatever works at the time.

Last night was a treat. She was in bed late for her which was at 8 as we were out all yesterday (and another gorgeous day here again) and not up till 3.30. So it meant I got 6 hours straight sleep, then DH took her out when she woke up at 6.30 and I got to sleep in till 8.00 this morning. This is the first time in forever!!!!
Thankfully DH is coming down from his manic time and can now be part of the daily process of looking after bubs. Someone is going to get lucky tonight  as I feel great today.

I'm off to buy some tights for Emily today (and maybe something for me) as she has some lovely little dresses that we bought before she was born but she is not going to get to wear them this summer as she will have grown out of them so I will put them on her now, but needs something still to keep her legs warm.
She usually just wears long pants and tops so it's about time I actually dress her like a little girl.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend. And BTW Dannii are you busy out revving around in your new car?

LOL the car is fantastic.. so different to drive then our other v8. i guess thats because this one is about 12 years newer :smiliedance:

How was everyones week end. we had friends over on friday night for a few drinks, luckily indy was a lil angel and slept all night.

Other than that, had a pretty easy relaxing one. just taking the car for a drive.
picked up the kids from school and i had told them about this real bomby car, so thats what they were looking for. i said they should be able to see and hear me coming with all the smoke it blows and the back firing noise sounds like a shotgun going off. They were nearly in tears of embarrassment, begging me not to embarrass them in front of everyone at school. So when i drove passed them ina new SS, they were jumping and yelling out to me  You liar mum!!
and chasing me up the street, of course showing their friends "hey, look at our car!"
Not embarrassed at all then!

They were very excited, (and relieved i think)

anyways novelty nearly worn off (ok , not yet!)

2 days before i got the new one the other black car of our totally spat the gearbox on me and it was just before i could get to the school, so i had to quickly lock up and throw indy on my hip and bolt over up all the hills to the school so the kids wouldnt panic thinking i wasnt gonna pick them up!

i had no mobile or pram with me! i was not happy!!!

so im so glad not to have them problems anymore.

ok talk later
have fun everyone :)

Hi everyone

Just a quick update on Kayden & myself. Kayden started crawling today - he is exactly 8 months old! He has been commando crawling for a while but today he has mastered crawling properly.

DF left last weekend for Darwin again, after having a month off. He really wanted to hear Kayden say 'dada' before he left. He said that if Kayden said it then he wouldnt go to Afghanistan. We dropped Chris off at the airport & Kayden said 'dada' about an hour later - he hasnt stopped saying it since then!

Some good news, Chris gets to come home before leaving for his deployment. When I dropped him at the airport, I thought I was saying goodbye to him until April next year  . We've since found out that he gets to come home Aug 26th till Sept 3rd so he will be home for his first fathers day (well, some of it anyway!)

Its pretty full on having Kayden by myself, we dont have any family up here so I have Kaydens name down at a Child care centre just so I can have a couple of hours to myself.

Apart from all that, Kayden is well - he sleeps really well so I have no complaints there. He is loving solids, has 3 meals a day but I'm sure he would have more if I let him. He loves home made rusks much more than the shop ones - mums cooking is always best! lol Im trying to introduce more finger foods but I'm scared sh**tless that he will choke. Sorry, JR'sMUM, it's only a queen! We were looking at getting a King-size last year (even beofre I was pregnant with Hamish!) and before we could, mum and dad gave us a brand new queen size. Dad is in the furniture industry and sells bed's but they gave us one, so no King size. I couldn't very well turn around and say sorry, I don't want it-can you make it a King? At least it's comfy.

The car sounds great, Dannii. What a surprise for the children!

Sarah, that is such good news that your DH is coming down-especially if it means you get a bit of a break.

Sharon-good to hear from you. Kayden on the move! How exciting! Do you have a recipe for home-made rusks? It's the one thing I could never master and have bought some shop on'es but Hamish chucks them away! I'd love to make some.

Brooke-I am very jealous that you got to go out with DH alone! I guess when we only had one, we did that a bit-back in the dark ages! I think I've forgotten what it's like-but I'm sure my memory could be jolted if the occasion arises!

Hamish had his first trip out 4WDing today. DH has his new tyres (whole big story/argument about $1700 tyres for another time) and just had to give them a run, so off to the bush we went. There was a couple of occasions that I got out and carried him-a few spots that were extremely rough and I'm still a bit concerned about his little neck but he seemed to enjoy it. He did lose it coming home though-it was just a bit too long a day for him, I think. Next time, we might go earlier so as to be back home earlier. Now we have returned home and Darryl has a fever and headache so I think it's his turn to get sick!

sharon- wow thats a long time for your dh to be away.. it would be hard on all of you for him to be away so long... you all must be such stromg people because i know i couldnt do it! but he would be over the moon about being home for his first fathers day! :hugs:

sal- wow all them kiddies in a queen size bed... reminds me of that song...
there was 3 in the bed and the little one said.. roll over.. roll over.. so they all rolled over and dad fell out... :o

it was nice having some baby free time.. dh and I went to the movies today and saw u, me and dupree was so funny.. dh and I also one a little chicken little for paige off one of those skill tester things and went for a walk around the shop almost felt like pre baby days... but when i picked her up she was over the moon and had been an angel for her nanna and grandad! :yelclap:

Brooke - it is really hard having DF away for so long. We only moved to QLD in January & he has already been away 6 months this year. He has been training in Darwin most of the time. I know this sounds horrible but I just want him to hurry up & go overseas. I'm so sick of waiting for it to happen, I want to get this stage of our lives over. He has been deployed to East Timor before, but that was before we were parents & totally different to now. He is missing so much of Kayden gowing up.

I considered moving back to SA but it feels like I've only just finished unpacking boxes & I think it would be too much on Kayden. We are heading back to SA late sept for a few weeks, then again for Kaydens 1st birthday & Christmas. I dont want to have to go through another deployment again, its too hard - I'm not that strong. I love DF though, so I do it for him.

Sal - Here is the receipe I use. Its easy & Kayden LOVES them. I made a batch last night & added some vegemite & cheese too. I also used cows milk instead of formula with no problems. I also found that I had to cook them for a bit longer because they were a little too soft after only 30 mins - I prefer Kayden to munch on them than eat the whole thing within 5 minutes.

Serves: 24

Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 cup Heinz High Protein Multigrain Mix
1 tsp baking powder
2 Tbsp spreadable butter/margarine
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup of breastmilk or formula

Method:
Mix everything except the milk in a large bowll. Rub the butter or margarine through the dry ingredients until completely mixed.

Add milk in a thin stream, and mix. Stop adding milk when you can press the dough together to make a ball which is not dry and crumbly, then roll it into an evenly shaped cylinder 20cm long.

Dip a sharp, serrated knife into cold water and cut the cylinder into 24 slices. Pat them so they are a little bigger and more even, or roll each ball into a crayon shape with wet hands.

Place on a tray lined with baking paper and cook at 150oC for 20-30 minutes, until they are lightly browned and hard right through when cool. Leave to cool then put in an airtight jar.

Sal - I can't believe you get 5 of you in a queen size bed! DH said I took up too much room in a queen bed(I'm a bed hog:laughing: ) so we bought a king a few years.

Sharon - where abouts in Brisbane are you - i've probably asked before but i know that our daycare centre has at least 1 day in nursery if you were interested in their number? I'm on the northside.

Danni - what a lovely surprise for the kids - they must have been so excited!

Brooke - some baby free time for you and DH - it's so lovely that you make that time for yourselves.

We had a busy weekend so I won't stay online too long(dinner is waiting for me - yes at 9:45pm!) we took Caydence to the Ekka yesterday - she loved it, but was asleep everytime we walked past the kiddie rides so didn't get to go on any:( oh well - we bought her a showbag! We bought the Hi-5 one 'cause it has musical instruments in it and she's loving them! shake those maraccas!!!

Night night all! Enjoy the week ahead

Hello everyone -

It seems to be all systems go at the moment! Last time I posted on here, Ryan had just said his first word 'mum'. Of course he hasn't stopped since! Last night he started crawling properly over a decent distance & we've started eating my home prepared food - yay :smiliedance: . His appetite seems to have really just taken off. He's eating 3 meals a day & sometimes I offer him snacks too :o . He is really good though and will only eat when he's hungry - I don't need to worry about whether he is eating too much! As soon as he has had enough, he clamps his mouth closed. BUT - still no teeth, which of course I am pleased about :D .

Hope you all have a lovely week & I hope the kiddies are well behaved (well, as much as can be expected anyway ;) )

Way to go Ryan :yelclap: with the crawling. Glad to hear he is eating mummy's food. What things are you giving him Tracey?
Emily has really been eating 3 full meals a day now and I've noticed that we seem to be dropping a BF or can go pass a feed time of up to 2 hours. So it's going from 5-6 BF per 24 hours down to 4-5 every few days.
I must say I am impressed with my new bigger chest at the moment while they are adjusting.

JRSmum- Sorry I can't help with any babysitting, unless an all expenses paid week is involved ;) I shouldn't jest as I'm sure there are times when you'd pay or do anything for a full nights sleep.

Lots of :hugs: Sharon. I can't imagine how hard it would be for you. Give us a PM if you would like to meet up some time. I'm on the westside of Brizzy. Or need a hand shopping (read another post of yours). And BTW as Sal said, your avatar is just adorable.

Well nighty night.
I wonder if our nocturnal reidymac will be by tonight?

JRmumma - I live at Cashmere. I have Kaydens name down at the new Tadpoles just around the corner. I enrolled him a few months ago when they first opened & said I wanted him to start August sometime. I just have to get off my butt & get organised (label everything etc). It will be so nice to have a little time to myself but on the other hand I will miss him so I keep delaying it!

Jess I'm so flattered you think I have a great mind

Being up in the wee hours I am now regretting.
We went to a bbq at some friends house and didn't get home till 10.30, but I didn't go to sleep till 12.30. And of course the little one woke at 3.15, then kept waking at 15 minute intervals from then on in.
I didn't put her in my bed with the hope that she would stay asleep each time I got up to resettle her because I don't sleep too well with her in with me. And my bed at that time just felt so wonderful and soft (it's not really) and I was having the deepest sleep (for every 5 minutes that is).
Dh took her out about 6.30 and put her in with me till 7 where I fed her and then he took her and I said wake me up in an hour so I could give her breakfast but I didn't get woken till 8.45 :smiliedance:

It makes the world of difference to have someone on hand at times that's for sure.
There has been so many times that I have had to keep pushing through the fog as I knew I could only rely on myself (with DH unwell) and I swear single mothers have my upmost respect in that regards.

Well another beautiful day here in sunny old queensland. I hope you all have a good day and your weekend went well. :)

HI All

I have come to the conclusion that bubba's have their own timeline of when they decide to do things.

My bubba isn't yet crawling - why bother when she can roll everywhere!

She's babbling.

She is starting to become interested in solids but eats them by poking her tounge (sp?) in and out. Thus alot of it ends up down her chin and bib.

She has two teeth.

Weight 8.52kg and 70cm tall - my little giant

She does sleep through the night but lately has been waking. We just stick the dummy back in.

At the moment there seems to be a bit of a break with the teething bit:smiliedance: so she is relatively happy and content.

I just amazes me that babies are all so different.

sharon- Just wanted to say you are very strong and I can only imagine how hard it would be for you! Pm me when you are heading down to SA and we could catch up (seejay you could come too)

seejay- wow breeanna is getting big.. I had Paige weighed the other day you had me wondering after the meet up and Paige only weighs a mere 7.8kgs!
but she is fairly long.. I look forward to measuring her soon...

chumps.. :smiliedance: yay for ryan on the crawling he will be in to everything in no time.. Paige loves power points and i feel like i spend my whole day chasing after her saying "no.. dont touch.. dangerous!" she has also taken too crawling up to the door and trying to kiss mr leo (our dog) thru the window and yelling dog! lol so cute!

her vocabulary is getting big now.. she can now say.. mum, dad, nan, nanna, dog, bubba and has started saying goo goo gagga.. go figure!

Hi everyone, busy as always in here :yelclap:

Well i jinxed myself by saying how good indy has been and last night had another rough one. shes abit sick - out of the blue too!

Shes all stuffy in the nose and refuses to sleep without the dummy so then she cant breathe and cries all night.

i took her to the chemist to get her something to help ease it. they suggested it was only teething. i was lil bit cranky as i still wanted something!!

i really had an attitude of "i think i would know if it was just teeth!"
but when i got home i checked again AND what do u know? a tooth has cut through!! :o

i only just checked her too!

She just had panadol and demazin and now finally having a decent sleep.

so im please she has got her first tooth :smiliedance: , but its really making her cranky.

Hooray for Indy!!!! Her first tooth. Wow so many firsts it's amazing.
Sal- way to go Hamish, Mum is a good word. Emily still can only say Mum which is fine by me. Everytime her gran and dad say "say dada" she looks at them and says a big MUM. Oh so proud.

Brooke- PP just amazes me with all her words. That's great. I'm happy at the moment with no crawling, teeth or talking as I know as soon as it starts there really will be no rest for the wicked.

Emily has gone from having a distaste to yoghurt to now she pretty much will only eat something if it has yoghurt in it.
Breakfast is fine with porridge but when it comes to lunch or dinner she will have a few spoonfuls of whatever I have made then refuses any more until I go put half a spoon of yoghurt with each mouthful. And the yoghurt has to be what she tastes first (at the front of the spoon) and you can't put too much of the other food as she looks at it first and won't open her mouth unless it's mostly white with yoghurt. :banghead:

It really is such an exciting time for everyone! It's so funny on this forum. It's so good as everyone is the same age. It gets really quiet with not much happening, then everything happens all at once!

Congrats to the first tooth people!!!! (but can't say I am jealous  ) I know my time will come - then i won't be laughing :crying: ) Brooke - that is wonderful that PP got through with none of those awful warning signs.

He he, Sarah - that is so funny about Emily checking out for the yoghurt! Ryan does a similar thing when I offer him something he doesn't really like, he clamps up. So I leave him in the high chair, go to the kitchen & get something different and he gets all nosey, trying to see what I'm getting and will only reopen his mouth when he is certain I have a different taste on his spoon :p . They really are so cute & nothing gets past them......

:smiliedance: Paige. What a good little girl with not even being upset.

Fingerscrossed that will be the way Emily gets her teeth. Not that she ever lets us see her bottom gums. Everytime we go to look she pokes her tounge out. Have tried even turning her upside down to look at the bottom gums but still with no luck so I can only feel with my finger.

Emily not only clamps up when she doesn't want the next spoonful of food she blows rasberries or blows her lips as well to get her point across. Makes it hard not to laugh. Another thing she will also do is scrunch her nose up, squint her eyes and blow through her nose quickly. Now that one is a hard one not to giggle at.

Congrats to all the 1st time teethers! How exciting :yelclap: You all inspired me to check out Blakes gums but unfortunatley there was no sign of anything happening.

emilysmumma - Blake does the same thing when he doesn't want his food. He clamps his mouth shut and turns his head away, if you keep trying, he starts the raspberries, it is pretty cute but frustrating when I have just spent hours slaving in the kitchen to prepare him healthy homemade foods and all he will eat is a tub of "wiggles yoghurt" :o

Blake has just started pointing at everything, it's the cutest thing I've ever seen. He sticks that little index finger out and touches everything and if he can't reach it he'll point at it. Everytime I hold him he is poking at my eyes, nose, mouth and he even touches the mole on my cheek - he probably thinks it's something he can pick up - so cute :)

I was just thinking today that we'll be celebrating 1st birthdays before we know it, it's a bit sad that they are growing up so fast .....

Welcome melbabie and luckyniki.

What a way to welcome the new year in luckyniki. What time was your son born?
Enough time for you to have a glass of champers and watch the fireworks?:p

Met up with Tracey (chumps) today and little Ryan. My apologies on Emilys behalf for the ear pulling and the foot gumming she gave him. He wasn't too pleased about it and I can't say I blame him. He is so adorable, and so light! Holding him compared to my little buddha was such a difference.

Dannii- I hope that when you read this that you and Indy both had a good nights sleep.

I just finished watching a dvd, have stocked up as tomorrow (wednesday) is a public holiday here in brizzy and I plan on doing.......nothing! So looking forward to it. May venture out to get a bit of sun and a bit of a stroll so I don't feel too much like a vegetable but otherwise......nothing (or as much as nothing is with a 8 month old). Which she is on Thursday or as I like to think 35 weeks old.

Hey All

Just had to tell the news that Emily slept all night last night :smiliedance:
Wahoo!!!!

From 7.00pm till 5.00am. She woke again at 6.30 so I put her into bed with me and we both went back to sleep for another hour cuddling each other. So sweet.

Of course it meant I could of gotten a full nights sleep but no, I had to be watching movies and be on bubhub instead and didn't get to sleep till 12.30, but oh well. Hopefully this will continue :fingerscrossed:

Tracey- how did Ryan sleep last night? Maybe it was all the fresh air and lounging around in the sun.... oh right that was us

Gosh this beautiful weather certaintly lift the spirits up. Last week I had a couple of really low days until I realise it's just the most gorgeous weather at the moment and really how can you be down when it's like this.

Have a good day ladies and bubbas of course :)

Hey Sarah - nice work on Emily's behalf ;) . Thank you for yesterday, it was soooo nice to get outside for half the day! We had quite a s**t night actually. First half was good, Ryan crashed at about 6.30. But he woke at 11 feeling rather hot :crying: . So anyways, I gave him some panadol which of course ended up down his front. He stayed up for about half an hour, went back to bed, then we were up at 2, 4 and 5. Obviously something is bothering him. I can't quite put my finger on it though. He is very happy otherwise and feeding well, but just a bit of a temperature (which is up & down a little - but not too serious). I think we might just lie low for a few days & get plenty of rest. I hope he isn't getting sick, and I definately hope if he does - that Emily doesn't get sick too, I would just feel so bad if she did :( . I will be keeping a very close eye on him & will definately let you know if anything eventuates. My other thought was........ I hope it's not the start of teeth.......certainly possible.

On the up side, since it is a public holiday here, Shane took Ryan this am and I had a sleep in to catch up. Then Ryan had a nice long sleep this morning too. This is the one time you wish they could actually talk so they could tell you what is wrong.

Welcome to the new people  Hope you find this a great resource & look forward to hearing more about your little ones.

wow sarah excellent news about Emily! just hope this may be the start of things. i totally miss not being able to sleep through the night. but of well, its getting better. On usual nights she sleeps from 8:30pm to 8 am
but wakes up for a bottle at 12 and also wakes up a handful of times and has to be re-settle (usualy just a "dummy-run" - as we call them)

From memory they didnt really "check" too much anyways.

But after having a 9lb 8 baby, i was pretty sore, and was worried about a few things afterwards, it just didnt feel right for ages IYKWIM
and i still didnt go to the docs!!
im bad when it comes to taking myself off to see medical people, i only do it if i REALLY have too.

Well, isn't this a change - visiting bubhub at the wee hours. I can say officially that I think the wheels are falling off  . So much for my perfect bub who sleeps all night! We are going into our third waking hour this evening and it isn't looking like we will get sleep any time soon. If this is all pointing in the direction of choppers - all I can hope is that this doesn't happen everytime.......

We are actually off to doc tomorrow. The signs Ryan has been showing, indicate to me that he is either teething or he may have an acute ear infection, so were off too have those ears checked out. Better to be safe than sorry.

Well, must go check out the hub and see whats going on at this time of night!

Neither did I. I went to the doc's the week after Kayden was born but I was only in there 5 mnutes (It was more for the doc to check Kayden than me). Then we moved to QLD & i didnt want to have to tell a new doctor my life story - i havent been to the doctors since! Glad I'm not alone!

Tracey :hugs: Oh dear, poor little Ryan and of course poor you. I hope it isn't serious for him. Could it be a bit of heat stroke? It's just that when i got Emily home (i feel so bad for this) she had reddish legs and very reddish arms (looked more like a rash than full on red) from being out in the sun. It was the first time she had worn short sleeves in months so it didn't take much (even in the shade) to go red. I just heavily moisturised after her bath and they were fine in the morning. But of course I don't think it would last this long, I'm defintely no expert. Let us know how it goes.

I had the 6 week check as I needed to have a pap smear since it had been so long since I had one I couldn't even remember.
All they do is checked to make sure the uterus had gone back into place and blood pressure. Not much really. I guess it's there (if you have a good relationship with your GP that is) to discuss any probs with yourself or baby.

Brooke- swimming lessons are great. They are so cute in their little bathers.

I went to my six week apt but with my obs not the GP.

The apt almost didnt happen - the obs was about deliver a bubs and the receptionist suggested we reschedule. I promptly mentioned if they decided to do that I wouldnt be back. Sounds rather selfish doesn't it but at that time with sleep deprivation and the effort required just to get to that apt I had had enough.

Sound like some ppl are having good times and bad times out there. Day time television seems like a good option when there is sleep deprivation - no brain usage required!!!

Bubs is being resistant with her solids. We had a big tantrum last night where she wouldnt accept any rice cereal. She just wanted her bottle!!!:banghead:

I contacted the cyh helpline and they suggested a few things to do today. So we are going to try them and see what happens. If it doesnt work we have to go to a speech therapist to see if the gag reflex can be reduced. The last option apparently is to have her see a team of doctors at WCH. Thus today we are hiding the bottle (she goes ballistic if she sees it and I am trying to feed her rice cereal). She even gives me daggers if I am drinking from a water bottle:D
My little resistant bunny. She does not like change when it comes to food - just like daddy!!!
Her growth rate is following her curve so she is not stunted or anything. Just a big milk bottle fan!

Hope you guys have a good day and a better night:yes:

Well, our restless night continued through until 6am....... and would you believe Ryan is still awake, and doesn't even appear tired - while mum here has her eyes propped open with toothpicks :(

On the up side, doc visit revealed all is fine in the ear department & it was concluded to be a mild case of a cold. It would appear to be very mild as to look at him, you wouldn't even know anything was up. Only suspected something due to him having a temp the other night, and a few coughs that sounded more serious than the ever so popular faker cough! He has had a little run from nose, but not even enough that requires a wipe! I so wish he could talk. With any luck, it won't get too bad. For all we know, it may well be teeth on the way. Anyway, main thing - his ears are fine

Busy, busy, busy in here! Sorry to hear about everyone's sleepless nights. I know EXACTLY what it is like  . Glad to hear Ryan is OK though.
I went to my 6 wk appt and after the usual checking uterus, BP etc... my GP said how about you make an appt for your pap smear in about another 6 weeks (he is so kind, he doesn't think there is a need to go poking about in dark places so soon after giving birth). So I made the next appt, and then cancelled for whatever reason and am yet to go back. But, you have prompted me to get it done as I normally have annual checks due to having had abnormal cells once and needing surgery for it, so I have to be vigilant.
I went out to visit some friends last night and took the phone, as I do, and there was no calls so I assumed all was well at home. Upon returning home at 9.45pm, Darryl tells me Hamish woke, screamed for 1/2 an hour (with Darryl periodically going in to cuddle him) then he went back to sleep-and didn't wake until 1.30am! Yay!!!! He then slept until 6am, so again Yay!!
I think Darryl has had enough of night waking so I'm leaving it up to him if he wants to enforce the no feed at 9pm. I think we'll see what happens.
:D

Forgot to share. I organised a baby blessing this morning for a friend who has a two week old DS. She is from Holland and we have been friends for 2 years, so I thought I would do something to acknowledge her new little man as her family are all O/S.
I made some little invites for a small group of us (9, I think) asking each person to bring a poem, blessing or song and a meal for her freezer. I took along a candle and some foliage which we set up on the floor in the centre and each read (one sang) a small welcoming poem/story to our friend and her new bub and one girl played a sinead O'Connor song (on cd) called My child (I think that is what it is called). We also sat the mum on the couch with her feet soaking in a lavender foot bath and one friend gave her a head and neck massage. It was so lovely and my friend cried and we all gave her hugs and well-wishes, then we had a short morning tea, packed her freezer and left to let her and bub both have a rest. I feel so good now-I love the celebration of new life! :)

That is just too lovely, how sweet. I can't say that I'm that thoughtful, but I think that is a wonderful thing to do. I'd would certaintly appreciate being on the receiving end of something like that, and I'm sure the new mother did also.

Hi everyone,

I've never heard of a "baby blessing" before - but it sounds so so sooo wonderful - if only I had friends like you sal!

Just quickly reading over the most recent posts. I did go for my 6 wk check - but the OB did not even check anything, he asked me a few questions and that was it. I was REALLY sore down there (and still don't reckon things are normal) but he didn't even look - I wasn't going to ask him to though

Seejay Elle, I have a similar problem with Blake, he just doesn't seem to know how to eat, he sticks out his tongue when I put the spoon in his mouth and does not chew AT ALL, so I am just feeding him REALLY mushy stuff still. Hopefully he will get the hang of it, if not, I am not sure what to do!

Well best go, I've got a 2 year old screaming at me to "get off puter mummy!" :D

Haven't we all been busy since I last posted!

Hello and Welcome to the newbies too, I look forward to reading your future posts.

Congrats to those with the new teeth!
Chumps glad to hear that ryan doesn't have an ear infection.

Well I've been having a heck of a time lately Riley is teething really badly, the poor little thing just seems to be having such a bad time of it all. It looks like we will get the 2 bottom teeth through at the same time. I am so so tired:sleeping: , I think it's more emotional than enything else. Riley is sleeping okay at night but druing the day he is just a grizzle bum. Where did my happy, content baby go? He cries as soon as I put him down. He cries when I leave the room....it's so bad that I can't get anything done. He's only cat napping during the day and won't let me vaccum, even doing the dishes is waking him. I would normally let him have a bit of a cry but lately he sounds like he's in so much pain that he has me wrapped around his little finger.

:banghead: I really feel like I need some time out! Well I'd settle for him being happy again for more than 5 mins. Sorry had to vent before I go crazy.

On a better note he's crawling really well and moved into a sitting position by himself yesterday for the first time.

Oh how they are growing up too fast! I look at my 3 (nearly 4) year old and wonder where the time went. I love watching their developments. How truley blessed we all are.

Hope everyone is going well

Looks great - it's just weird because whenever I was reading your posts I was picturing the brunette you :D

Reading these posts is kind of like reading a book, you create a mental image of everyone and then when they post a pic it messes with you! ha ha.....

2boysmummy - :hugs: to you! I hope Riley's separation anxiety settles down soon, it's hard when they get to that stage because there are times when you just have to get stuff done.

 Brooke this cracked me up:laughing: . I think of Sal as some kind of Martha Stewart but nicer too!!!! Although I think Martha could learn a thing or two from Sal. That blessing ceremony sounded incredible. I love to put the faces to names but I was surprised how much real Sal looked I imagined her to. You and Paige look beautiful together Brooke.

Awww...now I'm all embarressed!:D Thanks lovely ladies. Jackie (now that feels strange typing that, I'm so used to typing out your username) your avatar of your little men is gorgeous.
Hmmm...the seperation anxiety of the 8 month old! We have loads of that right now too! I can generally put Hamish on the floor but if I leave the room-it all starts! If he could talk I'm sure it would sound something like "Mummy, don't gooooooo....I NEED you. Please don't abandon me-I have to be near you every second and I can't cope if you walk away....."
It's soooo tragic that I have to giggle sometimes.
I hope Riley's teeth come through for you soon-it will be instant relief when they do appear..until the next ones  .

And as a footnote....Martha Stewart has something else on me besides age-she's a convicted criminal-something I have managed to avoid!
