I saw on Sunrise yeaterday these magnetic 'wash balls', they are two little magnetic balls that you put in your machine instead of soap powder. i thought they looked pretty impressive so went to check out the website. they cost $79, which would be well worth it if you never have to buy washing powder again. however i tend to be dubious of things that you can only buy over the net. just wondering if anyone else saw the segment and what they thought or if anyone has actually tried them. i'm not usually sucked into such things but these did sound really good! let me know :)

Yes I saw it too, and the magnetic theory sounds logical. It's a lot of money to spend if they're just a dud though.

I noticed when asked if the metal damaged the washing machine, the guy said he had done one wash with them and they hadn't. Hardly a fair test. Perhaps after the hundreds of loads I seem to do each week they would.

Hi All
I do love Pete and his gadgets on Sunrise, but this magnetic ball thing didn't quite ring true to me (at least not enough to spend my money just yet :p ).

I was bothered by two things:
the fact that they used a prewash stain remover (if you have to do that everytime, what's the point?)
and in their tests, they didn't try a control test with just water and the prewash treatment (it may have worked just as well WITHOUT the balls OR detergent).

Maybe its my naturally sceptical nature (or the mad scientist in me getting out), but I need more proof or other ppl to give it a try before I'll be spending my hard earned $$ on it (so keep me posted :D )

Cheers
