Last year sometime I saw an interview with 2 guys who had written a book for new dads, putting a funny and very candid spin on the experience for guys. It sounded great, including things to NOT do/say when your wife is feeling fat while pregnant or the all-time favourite for birth- 'It can't hurt that much can it?'. I would love to get a copy for some friends who have just revealed they are having a baby but can't for the life of me remember the title. Or if you know of any other good books for dads, I'd appreciate the suggestion. I don't want to give a serious type book as I'm not suggesting he needs tips in that department!! I just want a fun type present...

Cheers!!

A couple of funny ones we bought:

What to Expect when your wife is expanding - a take off of the What to Expect bible, very funny. Set out in the same format just written for men.

Another one was "So you're going to be a Dad" by Peter someone, can't remember his last name...also very funny but practical as well.

The Bloke's Guide To Pregnancy by Jon Smith is a light hearted easy to read book (having said that, DH read one chapter before realising that he was reading *gasp* and told me to fill him in on the essentials during the ad breaks:rolleyes:
So You're Going To Be A Dad was by Peter Downey
There was another book I bought for DH which is the one you are talking about. I can't find it (just moved, it will be carefully boxed never to be found again) and have a terrible memory:confused: (thanks DS) so can't help with the title. But it came with a disclaimer on the first page warning that this book is not for the eyes of women. It is a blokes perspective and as such describes things so that ordinary blokes can understand it ie: when she's as big as a house and reaching for another tim tam, hold your tongue, she is carrying your precious child and it doesn't matter how much weight she puts on because she is growing your child (don't direct quote me on it but it had that sort of sentiment) Funny read. If you do find it and decide to have a sticky at it, don't get offended - it is just written like a chat at the pub style (ie: no women are meant to hear 'how' things are phrased).

We bought a great book called First-time Father by Tony White and Dr Graeme Russell (both Australian). It's very light-hearted and my hubby and I enjoyed reading it out aloud to our baby when I was pregant; when we knew she could hear our voices. Hope it's the one you are looking for. :)

My husband is not a big reader at all but I bought him so you're going to be a dad and he loves it. He read half the book in a matter of days and each time he's got his head burried in it I can hear him laughing and commenting about how true it is. Every now and then he insists on reading a section out to me and it's pretty spot on

This sounds like the one!!! If you do come across it or remember the title, please let me know. I'll keep scouring the bookstores in the meantime!

Thanks!
