Pedicures & Waxing

Anyone know if pedicures and waxing is a no-no in the last stages of pregnancy? I'm pretty sure waxing would be fine (bikini, legs), but I heard in my prenatal classes from someone that pedicures were a no-no because of some reflex points that start labour? Does anyone know? I'm desperate for a pedicure...not that it would look much better on my elephant feet!!!!

If you are talking about reflexology then I'm not expert but I wouldn't think a pedicure would put enough pressure in the right spots to entice a baby to come out if it wasn't ready.

My masseuse (gosh, I sound posh saying that LOL) tells me about pressure points in my lower back that can start labour. He still massages them put doesn't push hard, just rubs gently over them. He said that he will push on them harder when I am 38 weeks and over.

I just read in a magazine( that was totally ridiculus as magazines tend to be:laughing: ) that in the last few weeks of pregnancy the best thing to do is to

#1 get a cut and colour
#2 pedicure and manicure:thumbsup:
#3 massage
#4 facial
#5 spary tan:confused:

so I guess it would be ok but I cant imagine getting to 38 weeks an going oh yeah a spray tan, thats what I want....:p

a full brazilian and leg wax was on the list too......

With DD I had it all planned to go to the beauticians and hairdressers at 37wks (prior to having cerclage removed) needless to say that she decided to arrive at 36wks :( . Eeeeeek poor OB had to face a scary set of legs and bikini line instead :eek:

I think I scared the young girl at the spray tan place enough last time I went there, and I certainly wasn't 36 week's pregnant then! LOL

I felt sorry for her having to spray my old lumpy white bod.

That stuff makes you itchy anyway, and we all know we're not allowed to scratch our bellies!!

At least with a spray tan and perfect highlights in your hair you could hope for a 'hollywood' delivery....hahaha! You'd hope you don't get streaky tan bits in the wrong places!:laughing:

I think I could guarentee I would be all streaky and not glowey like I should:laughing: you would have to get everything done cos once you were in the nuddy it would be obvious to the eight people gathered around your bottom half while giving birth that you were not naturally bronzed!!:p
