Hello ladies!

I know this is going to sound like such a silly question, but I know that babies have a growth spurt around 6 weeks... but that's just a generalisation isn't it? It can happen earlier or later?

My 5 week old bubba boy is feeding so much at the moment, I'm hoping it's his "6 week" growth spurt and not a lack of supply!

I just can't seem to keep up with him!

No it can happen earlier. Ds was born 3.8kg came home 3.5kg and at 4 weeks was 6.2kg this was by breastfeeding only. At 8 weeks he was 7.6kg and now at 4.5 months is probably close to 9 or 10 I haven't weighed him yet, but he drinks alot less than he did back then.

Its not a silly question. Im 100% sure my dd had a growth spurt at 5 weeks too. She is now 11 weeks and im sure she is going through another one these past couple of days. Mine feeds every 2 hours ...still... and during these growth spurts, she wants to feed forever. I cant complain though because last night she slept from 7pm to 3:30am for a feed, back into bed then awake at 7am for breakfast. Then.. lucky me, she had a big feed at 8am then went back to bed for another 2 1/2 hours.
All i can say, is just go with it. They get a little grumpy for a couple of days but try and offer a feed when they want it. No point starving your child. Also, its probably a good idea to plan as little as possible socially for the next couple of days so as to keep enforcing your routine and feed as often as necessary. This helps me with bubs.

The books are only a rough guide. It can happen earlier, later or even feel like it hasn't. Visit your local nurse and have him weighed this will give you a quick answer. :)
