Does anyone have any bad back probs?? i have always had a bad lower back, and since reaching my 6mnth mark in the pregnancy, its got sooo bad. mainly when im in bed, but also thru the day.
ive been going to a ciro, but he said its still going to give me troubles thru the birth, but were working on it.
Does anyone have any other ideas to relieve the horrable constant pain.? any tricks? thanks. x :fingerscrossed:

I have a permanent back injury ...i hurt it in 1999 in a job :crying: I now have a buldging disc..L4 disc it is.
I hurt my back in Early june 99 then found out i was pregnant in late july...My back was so bad through my pregnancy i needed physio(sp?) everyday. Once i got big i walked with a limp all the time & then for about a mth after i had my DD. Then i went back to excerises to help it.....It is always going to cause me trouble...but damn i tell ya when i was pregnant was hell on my back...i used to get spasam's (sp?) that used to make my back shake all the way to my neck.
I'm sending uu best wishes hun because i know how arwful it is.:hugs:

Yes, my back has given me problems for years and it has got much much worse since being pregnant. I am actually a bit worried about how its going to hold up in labour because my pelvis has sh*t itself now too and the muscles go into spasms.

I lie frontwards on the bean bag at night, which relieves the pressure, and go to the chiro, although last time he actually made it worse.

Warm baths and massages help to loosen up the muscles.

I have had heaps of bad horse riding falls and have had a dodgy back for ages...

Pregnancy has made it heaps worse:rolleyes: (this one more than DD) I have just been using heat packs but think I may need to find somthing a little more effective:p

My historically bad back was fine during pregnancy (most recent one) until about 5 1/2 months when it all kind of fell apart. I had 3 sessions of Bowen Therapy and it was soooo much better. Bowen is very gentle and non-invasive and ideal during pregnancy.
Also, a good chelated magnesium supplement (quite cheap in health food shops) and tissue salts supplements are worth taking. You can get Schuessler Tissue Salts (there are many)-you want the ELASTICITY CALC/FLUOR variety. Again they are quite cheap.:)

i too have had a longterm back injury/pain..

old broken vertebrae & spondolythesis [sp?] (slipped sacrum)...
also from falling off horses when i was 15, but i didnt get it diagnosed until i was about 25... absolute aggggony for years, would leave work [hours after i was meant to be finished] barely being able to get myself to my car, would often just sit on the floor rocking at work at night hoping no-one would come past & see me until i was able to get myself together enough to stand, then put one foot in front of the other...

i also have two belly hernias, which being overweight is not helping my back at all - but its a catch 22 losing weight with back & front probs...
pregnancies have been a niiiiightmare,
sometimes i will just be standing & my left leg will just give way & i almost fall over, sometimes my hubby even laughs because of how out of the blue it can happen, sciatica just hits when least wanting it also - usually when im trying to get some exercise & go for a walk :banghead:

when i first found out i was pregnant i was not willing to take any pain killers, so i bought & used the roll-on 'a little bit of relief' specifically for back, it worked reasonably well [more the distraction of the ingredients i think - burning skin, high smell etc]... but i cant use it because when i thought about it, it has peppermint & eucalyptus as its main ingredients & i do recall reading a couple of times that peppermint 'may' be risky in pregnancy?
what a bummer!

i send my wishes of strength to everyone out there with back injury/pain,
no-one knows how much it effects your life unless they too suffer

Just wanted to add to this as I last wrote as a pregnant person and I have since given birth.

My dodgy back held up well during labour. I gave birth on all fours as there is no way I could tolerate being on my back. My left hip BURNED as bubby was crowning but there was so much going on I hardly registered it.

I recommend the all fours position for those with any back problems. I had to lie on my back for the initial 10 minute trace and was counting down the seconds till I could move. It was agony.

Since then I have had no new problems and my back is back to its old self.
